Wesley's Notes for Matthew 22:32

22:32 I am the God of Abraham - The argument runs thus: God is not the God of the dead, but of the living: (for that expression, Thy God, implies both benefit from God to man, and duty from man to God) but he is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: therefore, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are not dead, but living. Therefore, the soul does not die with the body. So indeed the Sadducees supposed, and it was on this ground that they denied the resurrection. #Exod 3:6|.

People's Bible Notes for Matthew 22:32

Mt 22:32 I am the God of Abraham. See Ex 3:6. God does not say, "I was", but "I 'am' the God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob". The present tense shows that he is still the God of the departed patriarchs, and that they are still in existence. God is not the God of the dead, but of the living. Queen Victoria is not the queen of Bacon, Shakespeare and Ben Jonson, but only of her living subjects. The Savior teaches that the soul is resurrected when it leaves the body, and that there is no unconscious state between death and the final resurrection of the body.

The same deceivers who, in the sight of men, question the existence of the Christ now: they are of those who crucified the Christ then: and are the same devils who are grossly deceived in believing they will crucify the risen Christ yet again. What do ye imagine against the LORD? he will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time.

"You make the law of God of none effect by your traditions Jesus healed a man on the sabbath day!!! And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day. Mathew 5 The only law we have to keep is To Love the Lord our God and our neighbour as ourself doing so we embrace all the old commandments, but we are not succeeding in doing so, We cannot even love our enemies as Jesus told us to do, We have sooo little love and are looking for hairsplitting things to fight and make war with one another, because we have forgotten how to Love as Jesus told us and why He came on this earth to teach us . Loving one another as He has done in the name of His Father As soon as we start loving one another again, than there will be no more wars and fighting amongst one another, but I think that Jesus has to come a second time to teaches us again and then we have no more excuse than to obey!
