People's Bible Notes for Matthew 16:16

Mt 16:16 And Simon Peter answered. With the impetuosity and impulsiveness that were ever manifested in him, Peter replied at once and expressed the faith of all the apostolic band. Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. This confession not only sees in Jesus the promised Messiah, but in the Messiah recognizes the divine nature. The confession of Peter is the one Christian confession of the New Testament and of the apostolic age, and the very foundation of the church, into which all saints are built as living stones of the temple.

Son of man speaks of His humanity, Son of God speaks of His divinity; both are True Names for Yeshua ha Moshiach, Jesus the Anointed. Read Luke 1:26-37; "..behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:.."

You do greatly err not knowing the Scriptures! The Saviour of the world was to come through the line of David, according to the flesh: Christ had to come in flesh to be bruised by the seed of the devil, so that He might break the serpent's head. (Gen. 3:14-15) "The LORD hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne." (Psalm 132:11)

Soul Brother, there is nothing on earth worth going to hell for. Just to answer the question you asked "what is dear to us on earth?" Probably a rhetorical question. I just felt like responding.

What is dear to us here on earth? Are we seeking status in this world or do we seek the glory of those in heaven. After all, we steer our own ship. Jesus upbraided those whom he loved, showing them the shoals and treacherous waters. But it is ultimately up to us as followers of Christ to daily steer our way home. Unseen obstacles lie ahead. False doctrines of men, false depictions of Jesus
