People's Bible Notes for Matthew 1:20

Mt 1:20 While he thought. Reflected, still in doubt, perplexed. The angel. Gabriel appeared to Mary (Lu 1:26); the name of the angel is not here given. Angels are messengers; an angel of the Lord is the Lord's messenger. These messengers are usually superhuman, but not always. In a dream. Often messages were conveyed by impressions made in sleep. Three times revelations were thus made to Joseph. Thou son of David. It was fitting that he should now be reminded that he belonged to the family from whence the Messiah was to come. Fear not. His betrothed was pure.

Emmanuel God with us = John 3:16 God sent his Son, he is still with Israel. This is where people mess up thinking God literally with us in the flesh, when it is an interpretation, an interpretation of events. Mark 12:1-11 The vine yard owner sent his Son and not himself as God became nothing in the flesh he sent his Son in the likeness of sinful flesh. Romans 8:3.

Yes, Irene 123, u r right, but not many realize it. Jesus was recognized as a prophet at the time and yet the Jews totally cut His story out of their writings. It's good that we have His Word to show us the way to Salvation.

The generation of Christ, the expected Messiah according to Jewish law right down to Joseph. Not the generation of Jesus. Mary says no blood of Joseph is in Jesus. No proof Marys parents were bloodline Jews. Jewish converts were accepted since the beginning of Jewish history, and the foreign wives of Jewish leaders - such as Samson and Solomon - were converts. Both parents could have been Gentiles

O children of Israel, I AM has sent me to you. And the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me. For I have not spoken of myself; If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. Lo, does not even the blood itself testify that I am he? Now see and hear O children of Israel: I and my Father are one. Verily, verily, I say to you, He that believes on me has everlasting life.

These verses might help you Luke 2:5 ".. being great with child; Matt. 2:1-2 ".. Jesus was born in Bethlehem.... there came wise men from the east to worship Him" All these are physical actions. On the other hand in Jh 3:3 Jesus told Nicodemus "...Expect a man be born again....." by that Jesus meant spiritual birth that is from above which we receive from the Holy Spirit when we believe in
