Praise the Lord for the comments of encouragement and comfort given on this forum. Bless all of you for your loving kindness. Happy Fathers Day 2021 to all our Dad's around the world.

Especially those going through persecutions because of their presenting the Witness of Christ to the lost and dying world. Matthew 28: 18-20

    Hi Melvin,

Just to add to the truths that others shared, God is Holy and can't be in the presence of sin, Those was our sins that caused the Father to forsake him.

God takes sin seriously, Even though it was his son he couldn't turn back judgment,

    God hates sin.

Isaiah 53:10-11. Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.

He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

    God bless

Hi Melvin ,please read Psalm 22 ,i belive this Psalm is all about Jesus ,the Jewish leaders should have known this Psalm and i believe Jesus was quoting it for the purpose of directing them to it so they would understand that it is all about him ,Jesus Christ ,the messiah that they were waiting for .

    MELVIN

This is just my opinion; may others have a better answer. We know from noon till 3 PM darkness fell over the land. When all of our sins were laid on the back of our glorious Savior Jesus, God had to turn his face and Jesus felt the burden and weight of our sins on His own.

    God bless,

While the promise referenced was directed to Jeremiah, we as believers benefit from the same loving kindness of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ:

But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. ( Romans 5:8-10)

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. ( Romans 8:28-29)

What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? ( Romans 8:31-32)

Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. ( 1 Peter 5:6-7)

Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. ( 2 Peter 1:2-4)

What Jeremiah 29:11 means for us Christians today?
  • S Spencer - In Reply on Mark 15 - 3 years ago
Hi Sheryl, I second what Mild Bill said, and to add to that, If a person is living in sin he or she might want to examine themselves, they shouldn't be in bondage to sin. Romans 6:1-6. What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Romans 8:10-15. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.

For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. Thanks

    Sherl,

"however you can fall from grace."

In the conditions you describe,"the fall from grace", is a situation of broken fellowship with God, not a total loss of salvation. Gross sin, or presumptuous sins may plague a believer, and thereby strain their relationship to God, and the way to correct that status is as you said, repent and ask forgiveness. For example, your children, can either be pleasant and agreeable or ornery and difficult, in either case, they never stop being your children. Christians of all depths/ages/maturity, work out their own experience of being saved, some do better than others. The father of the prodigal son, had two sons. The one who remained with his father also had issues that the father had to deal with. God does not throw out the baby with the bath water, and keeping them clean, is given his full attention. Hebrews 10:30&31"For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God."
  • Sherl - In Reply on Mark 15 - 3 years ago
I believe it is once save always save, however you can fall from grace if you sin and continue to sin or commit the same sin over and over. You have to repent and ask God for forgiveness.

Golgotha is a word taken from the Chaldean language, 'gagulta' & Hebrew, 'gulgolet', meaning 'skull'. And then 'Calvary' is from the Latin, 'Calvariae Locus'. The exact reason why that area just outside Jerusalem was called 'a place of a skull' is not certain. Options are: it was a place of public execution and 'Skull Hill' somewhat resembled the shape of a skull.

The fact of Golgotha by its meaning & executions there, shouldn't deter you from 'eating bones', at least the flesh of the bones. Eating flesh of animal bones should be fine & you won't be taken to task for doing so, by God.
  • Katia Cross on Mark 15:22 - 3 years ago
I am curious about Golgatha which called Place of a skull. I am wondering about eating bones?
  • Mild Bill - In Reply on Mark 15 - 3 years ago
Emily Abrams, Spencer is right. You can only be confident in your own relationship/experience with God, and other people in theirs. If you trust Christ to have paid for all your sins, what's left? It is hard for a sinner to accept the grace of God, that is, you do nothing to earn salvation, but you are led of God's spirit to love him in return by yielding to his leading you to make good choices. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance(self control): against such there is no law." Galatians 5:22&23 For as long as a believer is on this Earth, their character is being changed to a likeness of Christ. The more often you cooperate, the farther you go in the changes, despite the old nature which you will not lose until the body dies.

More often than not, believers can point to a time where God made himself known to them as their Savior. Something like a before and after situation. The title of savior becomes something more than just a teaching, but very personal, to you for you, forever.

Hi Emily, Excuse me poor ability to text, I meant salvation is something we should know we have, " Something we should know ". Hope that helps, There's people on this site can elaborate on this matter and articulate it much better than I can, Thanks
  • S Spencer - In Reply on Mark 15 - 3 years ago
Absolutely, Emily. When Christ died for our sins was it past sins, present sins, future sins, are all our sins? I think our focus as Christians or professing Christians is to examine ourselves to see whether we're in the faith or not, If you got it you can't loose it, AND IT IS SOMETHING YOU SHOULD KNOW.

After 3;00 p.m. palestine time and before sunset, he had to be in the ground so they to celebrate the traditional passover ironic isn't it Jesus Christ was our passover for eternity.
  • Rick Mentzer - In Reply on Mark 15 - 3 years ago
jesus Christ was the ultimate passover lamb of God so they crucified Him about 3:00 palestine time and took him down before sunset between 6:00 and 7:00 palestine time ironically at they had to have him in the tomb so they could celebrate the traditional passover because they would have been defiled to handle a dead body.

Jess is speaking the truth. Even Jesus, Yeshuah, said it himself.

Verse 42 is very interesting....The day begins at sunset for Jews..... So Joseph asked for Jesus' body on what would be Thursday evening since the Sabbath starts at Sundown on Friday evening.....He would not ask for it on the Sabbath.......Additionally, it was during passover....So this Friday would have still been a day when they could do no preparations because it was during passover.....With the Sabbath ending Saturday at sunset, and Jesus being raised in the morning of the first day of the week, this makes sense....He died in Thursday afternoon, and rise in Sunday morning....

I think theres something like that in Revelations: Where an Angel had a book and there was no one worthy found to open the book. But the Lamb of God Jesus was found to be worthy to open the book.

1-47 we learn specifically the group that 'tried' and 'sentence' JESUS to death; this same group would have carried out the execution but the laws of the Roman's government would not allow them to put JESUS to death, never-the-less the Roman's government could put JESUS to death.; so the religious leaders sentence JESUS to death and the Roman government carried out the execution; the ransom paid.

Eddie; that was a very good question! Actually it wasn't that God was looking for someone to die for our sins; for He Himself had announced from the beginning that Christ would come in the flesh born of a woman to undo the works of the devil and save us from our sins, by His own bruising Genesis 3:15. Who the LORD looks for is a man after His own heart whom He might teach and reveal His Word.
