I see much discussion throughout this site regarding when The Lord will return. Noting Motdaugrnds 's comment are you referring to the gathering of the Church which is also known as the body of Christ or are you referring to when Christ establishes His Kingdom? Each of these grand events would count as His return or coming. But, they are separate events occurring in different times or years. Please consider the stern and direct warnings in Matthew 24:48 and Luke 12:45 from the Lord God Almighty. Blessings to all who yearn for the knowledge of the truth.

This passage Talks about the RETURN of the KING., but we did not know when it happens.Jesus taught us, made us aware of the the things that happens now. Brothers and Sisters in CHRIST, We dont know, nobody knows when is really the 2nd coming, but we are very very sure that any of this TIME, DEATH come to everyone of us, Question is, are we ready to face GOD?what will be our answer if GOD ask us What did you do on earth while you are alive that makes me HAPPY? or We can hear GOD says, well done my good and faithful servant. Jesus taught us to WATCH and PRAY, watching means read the Word of GOD, teach others who did not know the truth, and your faith will be strengthen through PRAYERS.If we do this GOD will be PLEASED. GOD Bless Everyone.

This passage from Mark reflects that of Daniel. The roman army surrounded and destroyed Jerusalem in 70 AD. Just as Daniel was not written until after Antiochus and the Abomination that makes desolate, so Jesus 's teaching was not composed until after the Temple was destroyed in 70 AD. The first gospel did not surface until after or during the destruction of Jerusalem. Written either in Rome or Northern Judea, away from the immediate Roman assault. None of the Gospels date to before the destruction of the Temple of Jerusalem. Authentic St. Paul is the only NT writings to surface before the destruction of Jerusalem. Most biblical scholars have researched this and it makes sense. Paul and Peter were dead before Rome destroyed the center of both Judaism and Christianity---still centered in Jerusalem.

Katie, I appreciate your attempt to help me understand what this "abomination of desolation " is and I do understand it is the "antichrist ". Yes I know it is the one spoken of by the prophets. I 've come to believe the Scriptures have ALL been opened for us to understand. I suspect this "abomination of desolation antichrist " will be identified. According to Scripture many will worship this "person ". There is no need for so much confusion to be around this OR around the return of our Savior. The Scriptures have been very clear that His return will be AFTER the great tribulation, which is the last great effort of satan 's to turn us humans toward worshiping him.

When I was a new believer in Jesus I was taught that we, the church, would be raptured before the great tribulation.Jesus is telling us in verses 24-27 that He returns after the tribulation. After the Sun is darkened and the Moon gives no light and the Stars are falling from the sky then you shall you see the Son of man coming. verse 26 . We need to realise that we the church according to Jesus Christ will be on Earth during the tribulation. Matthew 24:29-31 confirms this also. 29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. There is a lot of deception around regarding the tribulation but Jesus has clearly told us when He is to return and yes it shall be Immediately after the tribulation.

Timothy Mark-that is not what verse 10 means. This chapter 13 of Mark is also linear to the chapter 21 of Luke and Chapter 24 of Matthew. Verse 10 is in direct reference to verse 9. Your explanation means that you took a subject article object of this verse and made it up. The subject, article and object comes from the previous verse if there isn 't one. It is in direct reference to being delivered up to the synagogues of satan. Verse 9 says you will be delivered up for a testimony AGAINST THEM. The Gospel truth you will witness before them! You should also read revelations 7:1-3 about how Gods people need to be teached before the end can happen.

Motdaugrnds-It is in reference to Daniel 9:27 and Daniel 11:31 and Daniel 12:11- First here is Daniel 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. Here is Daniel 11:31 32--31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate. 32 And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits. Daniel 12:11 And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days. The short answer to your question is the desolator is the Antichrist himself...standing in the Holy Place claiming to be the true Christ.

In verse 14 it says, "But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, let him that readeth understand, then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains " Can someone show me by other parts of Scripture what this "abomination of desolation " is?
  • Timothy on Mark 13:10 - 9 years ago
It means the Gospel ain 't just for one nation or to be hidden and not shared. We are to do what we can to spread it everywhere. Not just keep it in America,England or wherever our home Country is. But it 's for every Country, and every ethnic group.

there is a destruction and it is not the little ram sack burning by any roman. This is the destruction of the end at the 7th trump when Christ returns with a rod and hail stones mixed with fire and the earth is shaking. But before that happens antichrist comes, instead of Christ, to deceive the whole world and they chase after him because he looks like the Lamb with power but speaks like the dragon. Why? Because he is the dragon. Oh! No Roman ever caused the destruction that is going to happen on the Lord 's Day.
  • Solomon Waters on Mark 13 - 9 years ago
In this chapter, Jesus is explaining two things First, what will happen from that present moment until the destruction of the temple versus 5 through 31. This is the natural judgment. Natural judgment occurred around 70AD, when the Romans sacked Jerusalem. Secondly, he talks about his coming versus 32 37. This is the spiritual judgment.

God is wonderful, let becareful and follow the scripture dance step, and we 'll be save.
  • Karen Andersen on Mark 13 - 9 years ago
This passage of scripture explains to me, that in the last days on earth terrible things would take place, that if your not prayed up, staying in the word of God to know the false prophet 's, people that do know the word but they deceive you. Their like wolves in sheep skin. They appear to be Christlike, but are worshippers of Satan. Even our own children, some will be used by Satan to kill there own parents. Children will disobey parents. Nothing will happen in this world that is already fore told in the bible to prepare us for the last day 's. God wants us to be wise in the things that will come on earth that may seem good, but are evil and comes from Satan. Most of this chapter is for filling itself at this very time in life as I speak. This is just the beginning of sorrows in this world. Some will want to die to escape the fate of trials that will come upon the earth, but the bible says, they will not be able to escape the prophecy told. If you are a child of God, he will rapture us up, from this evil source that will take over the world. The children of God will be hated by many, and so many will be killed because of their belief in Jesus Christ. The bible must fulfill what is written.
  • George Hartwell on Mark 13 - 9 years ago
I do not understand. This chapter is talking about the end of the world. In verse 30, Jesus is telling his listeners that it will happen in their lifetimes. The end of the world should have come by now but it hasn 't. Could someone clarify this for me, please?
  • Shoshanna Mashaich on Mark 13 - 9 years ago
i think it is referring to the Twin Towers. First let no man deceive you...911 is the deception of our times. Also talking about the great buildings falling and leaving no stone upon another. Real science doesn 't support the official story. We have been deceived.
  • Lea on Mark 13 - 10 years ago
I believe vs 32 is simply that the day Jesus returns to gather his people will be Gods decision. I hope not to offend any because I have seen out and out near "knock down drag outs " concerning the trinity, but I believe that God and Jesus are 2 separate beings, God Jesus and the Holy spirit makes them one. We read that Jesus is in heaven interceding for us, not to himself but to God. I believe when the time is right, the creator of all things God will tell Jesus to come and get us, but he 's not willing that any should perish so he is merciful and waits. I have a nephew and to look at him, is as looking at his father, its hilarious and adorable, but they are 2 separate individuals, i believe that Jesus is so pure and righteous and wonderful like God that they are one in a sense, to see one is to see the other, they share the same mercy the same thoughts the same intent and the same spirit, but I cannot get angered at those that strongly believe in the Trinity, its a waste of strength and time that could be better spent in serving, I simply feel God will make the final decision and his perfect son is in agreement with everything the father wants. its beautiful

Shadrack St. Mark 9:7 And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him. We as men flesh and bone what joy can a father have more than the time he spends teaching his son?
St. John 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.(before the world was) This is an eternal relationship between a Father and his Son and for this very reason Jesus Christ is the Son; the Word of God.
St. Matt 7:29 For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
Josh. 5:15 And the captain of the LORD'S host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so. This is the Holy Ghost
St. Mark 13:11 But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.
The Godhead is one purpose, one mind; but I believe this is what separates the Father the Way of God, which he teaches too his Son the Word of God, and the Holy Ghost who fulfills the Will of God.
Mark 13:32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
Rev. 5:1 And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.
Rev. 5:5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.
Rev. 5:7 And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.

what view do you have on verse 32 about Jesus not knowing the time of his coming.considering the Godhead.
  • Timothy Wayne George on Mark 13:18 - 10 years ago
When Jesus said pray that your flight be not in winter or on the Sabbath day, He was speaking to pregnant women in the tribulation period. This period begins with the 70th weeks of years in Daniel's prophecy which starts with the signing of the seven year peace treaty. The Antichrist comes to power when he signs what is referred to as a covenant with death and hell with Israel. Jesus said blessed the wombs that did not bare, because it will be very difficult for pregnant women in those days. This is not applicable today, but only during the tribulation period which will last seven years. Then the Messiah returns to set up His Kingdom.
  • Peg Fava on Mark 13:2 - 10 years ago
I may be reading too much into this text, Mark 13:2, but there are stones still left from the Temple, today in Israel there are tours of the remains.

So I guess it could be the translation of "not one stone..." and focus on the bigger message that Christ is the new temple resurrected? But it bugged me which is why I'm searching for commentary.
