  • BSP on Mark 1 - 6 years ago
Verse 38~Jesus delighted in curing others and helping them physically, but his primary focus was on preaching about God's Kingdom. While charity and giving to others financially has its place, in imitation of Jesus our main focus should be on preaching the good news of God's Kingdom.
  • BSP on Mark 1 - 6 years ago
Verse 35~Jesus had already had a busy day, but this verse shows that he got up early to pray. Though people made many demands of Jesus' time and energy, he never neglected his own spirituality.
  • Betty Ahmad on Mark 1 - 6 years ago

  • Eutychus on Mark 1 - 6 years ago
verse 20...leaving their father and the 'hired servants'...same Greek word "misthotos" used (only other time in NT), to define paid preachers... John 10:12,13. "But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, AND LEAVETH THE SHEEP". "the hireling fleeth BECAUSE HE IS AN HIRELING.

So much for a paid pastorate...In Jesus' opinion at any rate.

Olu: Jesus (oh I love that name Jesus) is God but he lived his life as a man on earth. He has all the attributes of a man on earth. He became a man in other to qualify to save man. He came to teach us how to activate God's word to get result. Verse 12 shows that He prepared well before starting the soul winning job. Imagine, He just say "follow me" and its done. The job is easier when prepared.

40 days: Genesis 50:2-3 And Joseph commanded his servants the physicians to embalm his father: and the physicians embalmed Israel. And forty days were fulfilled for him; for so are fulfilled the days of those which are embalmed: and the Egyptians mourned for him threescore and ten days. 40 days of death of Israel. Israel wanted Jesus to be their Messiah if Jesus would follow their rule.
  • Lu2677 on Mark 1 - 6 years ago
Disciple,I am sorry I have caused such an obvious upset in you. I do not seek wrath.
My hope has been to enlighten people to the things that are not typically taught. It is a shock to have things brought to the forefront that are usually white washed and discounted at not important, or the things that many say "a loving God would not do that". God is who he says he is, and who can change him.
  • A disciple on Mark 1 - 6 years ago
Its NOT the Scriptures! Its the MIS-use of the Scriptures to continually find fault with others, WHO HAVE DONE YOU NO HARM! Typical self-centered, "don't you dare correct ME" response! May I direct your attention to Hebrews 12, which, IF you read it carefully, clearly makes the connection between keeping one's self clean and right with the Lord, and receiving correction..."chastisement" as a son!
  • Lu2677 on Mark 1 - 6 years ago
"Burr under my saddle" Why does the scripture that I write offend you? Jesus wants people that are not offended in him.
  • A disciple on Mark 1 - 6 years ago
Lu2677; Why do got such a burr under your saddle? It seems like you just wanna be peeved at everyone, and beat 'em up over phrases and words? How about "love one another AS I HAVE LOVED YOU?" Is that really how you expect the Lord is thinking about you, and watching over you with a ruler in His hand, ready to smack you as quickly as you might not cross your T exactly right? C'mon, Brother!
  • Lu2677 on Mark 1 - 6 years ago
Bruce, Mark 1:10-13 After Jesus was baptized by John and the Spirit descended on him, "immediately" the Spirit drove Jesus into the wilderness to be tempted by Satan for forty days.I don't know of any teaching in the Bible that says when God calls someone they will be in the wilderness for forty days being tempted by Satan.Nor does it say there has to be a "tug on the heart."

  • Irene123 on Mark 1 - 6 years ago
" ... and John was clothed with camel's hair and ate locusts and wild honey." John wasn't the reincarnation of Elijah (Elisha? sorry, can't recall which). Just as Elijah's mantle fell on Elisha - the mantle (Ordaining) fell on John. There was no 'reincarnation'; that's witchcraft and witchcraft is rebellion - 1 Sam. 15:23. And no, I did not MISQUOTE; I did not intend to quote.
  • Peter A. Okebukola on Mark 1 - 7 years ago
Jesus went about doing good. He healed all manner of diseases. He did it before and as the God that He is, He can do it over and over again. Let us present our sick bodies to him and our sin-sick souls for healing.
  • Irene123 on Mark 1 - 7 years ago
Yes, Jesus did heal from sickness, disease, but - that is not why He came among men. EVERYBODY, but everybody - knows why Jesus came to earth.
  • Ray321 on Mark 1 - 7 years ago
John the Baptist baptized Jesus for being the High Priest. It wasn't for Salvation. They were preparing Jesus for the Holy of Holy City. The King of the Jews.
  • Irene123 on Mark 1 - 7 years ago
When Jesus called them to follow him - they knew who He was. And Jesus knew they knew. Jesus, being God manifest, knew everything omniscience . " ... we have found Him, of whom Moses in the Law and the Prophets did write ... " These12 knew their O.T.
  • Irene123 on Mark 1 - 7 years ago
I've seen on here a pastor that said John the Baptist baptized using the name of Jesus. John didn't use that or any name he baptized using only the words, "for the remission of sins". Jesus' name wasn't revealed for baptism until Acts 2:38.
  • Irene123 on Mark 1 - 7 years ago
    To P. Carboon - water baptism: Jn.3:5 Acts 8:38-39 9:18 10:47-48 16:15, v. 33 9:18
  • Seven Trumpets on Mark 1 - 7 years ago
"The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel." All since that time, to Israel first, and also to the Gentiles, the "Kingdom of heaven IS AT HAND;" but the world has not obeyed the holy Announced Glad Tidings! While many are so concerned about whether all kinds of heathen being accepted and received, they have abandoned the sanctity of their Election.
