Philip. 3:5 - " ... God will reveal even that unto you." God is a revealer of men's secrets that NEED to be revealed. If a pastor or the treasurer or the Elders that collect the tithe is skimming them - the church needs to pray for enlightenment from the Lord Jesus, unless it is known who it is. Prayer - WORKS.

    V. 16 - " ... and that th'ot upon His name." To 'think' upon His name is to DO everything in His name. Whenever we converse with others by letter, phone, our work, etc. to ask God in Jesus name to bless it. Even some sinners know this as is shown in Acts 19:13. And, of course, baptizing in water is 'doing' something, Acts 2:38.

    V. 8-11'; bring ye ALL the tithe (10 percent) into the storehouse..."; the store house is the type of the church of today. It says right there it's for the Levites (who have no land to till to feed themselves and their families). The 'Levites' today are the pastors, ministers. They can't work at worldly jobs; their duty is to God - hosp., home, evangelistic work. cont.

Vs. 18 brings out that there is a clear distinction between those who serve God and those who who do not. t will radiate from our personality, speech, and behavior. Therefore, we should strive to apply the Bible's direction on our life. We can not live a double life. God knows those who belong to him.

    Exodus 30:16
And you shall take the atonement money of the children of Israel, and shall appoint it for the service of the tabernacle of meeting; that it may be a memorial unto the children of Israel before the LORD, to make an atonement for your souls.

    @Michael C... verse 6 speaks volumes
  • Michael C. on Malachi 3 - 7 years ago
Answering Galatians 2:20: The second greatest commandment; after loving the LORD our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength; is to love our neighbor as ourselves. When the King sits upon His throne, and all are gathered before Him for eternal judgment; it is how we cared for His poor and needy, His sick and strangers and imprisoned, that will set us either on His right hand, or His left.
  • Michael C. on Malachi 3 - 7 years ago
v 8: Abraham gave one tenth of the spoils to Melchizedek, but took not so much as a shoelace from the king of Sodom; for he had lift up his hand to the LORD. Rendering to the LORD the beginning of our strength, is a sign of the grace of Christ in our heart; which is shown by love. It is better for the Lord's servants to pay their own way, than to give occasion to the adversaries to speak evil.

BSP; I like verse 16 also! The one thing the devil and his seed can't stand, is our election of God. Its interesting how when we start to speak of wisdom and righteousness and judgment, the hostility rears up its head and strikes like a viper! The Law of our God is in our heart; none of our steps shall slide: but they that seek our souls to destroy them, shall go into the lower parts of the earth.
  • Galatians 2:20 on Malachi 3 - 7 years ago
What carnal logic human can conclude determinately and cast hypocritical judgement on another?... tithe what you will to this world but it will not buy the next...amen
  • BSP on Malachi 3 - 7 years ago
In these wicked last days, verse 18 brings out how it will be plain to see the distinction between a righteous person and a wicked person.
  • Michael C. on Malachi 3 - 7 years ago
Talking about Tithing; Supporting the widow, and the orphan, is counted as tithing. Supporting the poor and the stranger is counted tithing. Supporting the "Levite" who is within your gates, is considered tithing. Tithing was done every three years; not every Sunday. Read the law! Collections were to be gathered for the poor Saints in Judea, the first of the week, so Paul could send by messengers.
  • Jane on Malachi 3 - 7 years ago
If you do not tithe you are disobeying God. If you are a real child of God with his Holy Spirit in you not tithing will make you live in fear and guilt. You will have no peace cos you are living in disobedience. Do I have a witness? If you agree with me you have the Spirit of God, please repent and trust him he won't fail. I have been there and hey teach your children tithing

I so much beleive that the best one can do is to help the needy and the less privellaged, the idea of paying tithe is good but not when u do not know what the money is being used for,
how can one pay tithe to a pastor that is riding on cars what 100ds of millions,or pastors that has private jets,
i strongly disagree on tithe but i beleive in word of God.
Tithe is for the farmers not money
  • Christina on Malachi 3 - 7 years ago
I believe tithing is 10% or more of anything, the Lord gives, wether it be ,
Wisdom, money, food , helping hand, ANYTHING, giving unto the Lord, as he gave to you, without expecting anything in return.

peter ndubusi the best place to start is to pray to God in the Name of Jesus to lead you and ask Him what you should do. Roman 3:23 tells us we all fall short of the Glory so nobody is perfect, As Christians we fall . we pray for forgiveness. we pray for strength to resist temptation we try to do what Jesus said and live by the ten commandments.Trust in God for everything Talk to God ,

AMEN! PASTORS PUT SUCH A GUILT TRIP ON THE MEMBERS THAT HAVE SO CLOSE TO NOTHING TO BEGIN WITH.IT DETERS MANY AWAY FROM THE CHURCH.
  • John madden on Malachi 3:11 - 8 years ago
God wont tell you something that is contrary to the word ..if your hearing voices that contradict this old testament titheing system then it ant him.this was how it was done back then paul said we should give with out compulsion be a cheer full giver .
  • Patrick on Malachi 3 - 8 years ago
its is imperative to give to poor and needy.but not the way pastors manipulate poor people to pay tithe.coz theypreachit for their own bellies ,but not distributing for charity.they flaunt with german auto mobile.too corrupt with this verse....
  • Yessie on Malachi 3:10 - 8 years ago
Give to the poor, and not to the church alone. Give to the people who are in need... If your church is organizing outreach to the poor and needy, then you can entrust your resources to them, otherwise, give it to the poor personally. feed the hungry.

  • Evie on Malachi 3 - 8 years ago
I feel when he says your ties all friend it doesn 't necessarily have to be money I notice mega preachers really exaggerated money which causes greed today, your time can be valuable just being there is church or anything your children people look at things I feel is material and God don 't care about material things. you know how people think very highly of their cars. Jewelry they think of those things are very valuable just as much as valuable as the money to buy those material things see think that has value. and because people think you some money the preacher preaches its about money but you don 't see it you don 't hear it but if you watch his lifestyle vs yours it 's all about greed his greed and love the preacher 's don 't even live the life style they claim they live but one thing they have for sure use your money which is something God never said he wanted where 's your money he did not speak of money. There 's too much greed in the church because of money and the members as well they strut like peacocks walk like ducks like they are all that come to church for the wrong reasons and think others don 't know it. there are people that become creatures because of the money look at Clifford dollar witches who was in the news not ldollar who wants to buy a 63 million dollar jet for himself, JD Jacob and there are many more
  • TONDA WILLIAMS on Malachi 3:11 - 8 years ago
I believe it means God will rebuke the devour depending upon the times you 're in. Back then it wasn 't money it was land, cattle, etc but in these times it 's money or anything of value because if he abides in us and We abide in him anything We ask that will he do.
  • Bro. Mike on Malachi 3 - 8 years ago
That 's right. God is referring to the harvest of the your sweat equity on the land that He created. In the Old Testament the tribe of Levi were the practicing priests and instructions were that if you did not have time to take your tithes to the store house, it says that you could sell it for money and use money as your tithe to take to Gods storehouse but, it also requires you to offer another 10 which your tithes plus the offering would total 20 . But the last sentence in the book that instructs the Levi priest says, "and these instructions were given to the people of Israel. Yes, it seems that many men and women of God emphasize giving and then use it for personal reasons. Well it 's not our responsibility to judge them. God will, but it 's our obedience in your relationship with God to know and obey when God speaks on giving. The Word says that in the day of judgement when Jesus returns to divide the sheep from the goats He will say to enter my good and faithful servant. When I was hungry you fed me. When naked you clothed me. When I was in prison you came to visit me. The sheep ask Him when did I do that Lord? And He said, " when you did it to the least you did it unto me '. "Study to show thyself approved into God, a workman rightly dividing the word of truth. " Be bless. God is good. Every time even in the worst time if your life. He is Great!
