Can someone clear up the genealogical reckoning in verse 36 (Which was the son of Cainan, which was the son of Arphaxad, which was the son of Sem...) From Genesis 10:22 (22 The sons of Shem were Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram. 24 And soothly Arphaxad begat Salah, of whom Eber was born.). Here in Luke there is an extra lineage given between Salah and Arphaxad.

Imagine if a God fearing Bible believing preacher got in the pulpit and began with, 'You generation of vipers'!! Today's church goers have itching ears and this what a lot of them need. Get rid of Bingo, yard sales, cake sales, etc. Let a godly man preach repentance and salvation and the Holy Spirit will convict sinners! Let him that hath ears to hear, hear!

servant; Jesus and John the Baptist weren't little Orthodox Jews going to schule together; and decided to study Torah and go into politics! Jesus knew He was the Son of God ALL His life. And John was filled with the Holy Spirit from his mother's womb, and also knew that he was to be the forerunner and announcer of the Anointed the Saviour.
  • Servant of God on Luke 3 - 6 years ago
Don't you think that these two grew up together, went to the same school, shared their knowledge and maybe had dreams of politically freeing Israel from Roman tyranny. John did no miracle but taught a generic doctrine, but Jesus went further and studied the Torah at the feet of the Doctors and God gave him wisdom greater than John's. They probably were both ascetic in their journey as aspirants.

"And now also THE AXE IS LAID UNTO THE ROOT of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire." All that is not planted by God shall be rooted up. What is your life rooted in? Into what are you growing up? What are the fruits you bear? Will God find you in His image and likeness, in faith hope and love in Christ? Or worthless and bad?

It's not the way of our Lord to use names for people such as - crazy, idiot, stupid, etc'; all that does is harden a heart and cause the accused one to rail back and that also is offensive to God's will for us. Ye shall love the Lord your God with ALL your heart ... soul and mind; and ye shall love thy neighbor as thyself; "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do".

Pets receive Salvation? You must be crazy!!
Romans 8:28 Only those souls who God knew before Creation are destined for Salvation!
A soul must believe to be saved. A soul will not believe unless God births that soul from above [Reborn] to believe. And the only souls that God rebirths to believe are the souls which He knew before Creation.

The WHOLE CREATION groans and toils, waiting for the manifestation of the sons of God. The whole world is corrupted because of man; and all wait to see the completed salvation of the world, in the coming of Jesus Christ, and His eternal kingdom. Eccl. 3:21 Who knows the spirit of man that goes upward, and the spirit of the beast that goes downward to the earth? God's plan is to restore all things.

To Karl on Luke 3 - Gen. 2:7; God breathed into man and he became a living soul. He didn't do this with the animals. They have no soul. They don't go to heaven or hell. God gave us animals for food AND for comfort. When we kill an animal on the road - we are not murderers, it's an accident. ONLY if we hurt a SOUL are we accountable.

Marilynn, be of good comfort! The gospel of God cometh only from God, our Father which art in heaven. Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: Father, the hour is come glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. The mercy of man is toward his neighbour but the mercy of the Lord is upon all flesh: he reproveth, and nurtureth, and teacheth and bringeth again, as a shepherd his flock. Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation, And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, And all flesh shall see the salvation of God.
  • Norm on Luke 3 - 7 years ago
All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. For God made not death: neither hath he pleasure in the destruction of the living. For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye. For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him. The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
  • Karl on Luke 3 - 7 years ago
to Marilynn - will our pets see salvation? Yes!, as we hope for our own redemption, we must also show our own humble grace to those animals/souls under our dominion. As JESUS said to his disciples, "freely ye have received, freely give". If you would deny salvation to another, how could you hope for our own?
  • Irene123 on Luke 3 - 7 years ago
To Marilyn on 'pets - We lost a Jack Russell almost 3 yrs. ago. Cancer of the mouth. He was 12. A 'long-legged' terrier. He would stand outside and BARK at the thunder 'n lightening. But - we know he didn't go to heaven, Gen.2:7. God SPOKE animals into existence; He 'got down' and with His 'hands' created man from the dust; animals for us, but man for Himself.
  • Marilynn on Luke 3:6 - 7 years ago
All flesh, meaning not just man's but all living things. Is this telling us even our beloved pets will see salvation? I think so!
  • Stephen F. Zielski on Luke 3 - 7 years ago
Paradox. John was NOT refering to our Blessed Lord and Savior Christ Yeshua Jesus but, the Least in the Kingdom God a.k.a. the Greater than John. The reason He is Greater than John is because our Blessed Lord and Savior is Truly Glorfied and seated at Gods Right Hand now and forever more. God's chosen elect Zion will be Baptised with the Fire of the Holy Ghost Amen. It is ALL THERE AND lOGICAL.

Jesus is God in the flesh. He came down the line of Adam, Noah, Eber, Abraham, Issac, Jacob, David, etc. The people He addressed in John are Kenites. They claim to be the chosen race, but are really Satan's/ Cain's children. That's why He told them in John chapter 8 'ye are of your father the devil.' If they really were of Abraham, Issac and Jacob (Israel) they would love Him, as He stated.
  • Insight 777 on Luke 3 - 8 years ago
V 23 JESUS Being as was SUPPOSED. Suppose = assume that something is the case on the basis of evidence or probability but without proof or certain knowledge. John the Baptist taught Abraham is not the Father of Christ. The axe = Jesus = truth is cutting off Abraham, the root lie. Jesus taught that people believing in Abraham are sons of the devil. Jesus comes from God not Abraham, Peace not War.
  • Mitchell Wright on Luke 3 - 8 years ago
From verse 23 and down i want everyone to notice that there are only 6000 years worth of Generations from the Creation. And in Genesis Chapter 5 or 8 it tells us that age of half those people and when they had their kids. The Biblical Evidence for a 6000 year old earth is overwhelming And so is the Scientific Evidence, they discovered the Magnetic feild is decaying too fast and cannot be millions.

As we look at Luke 3:23-38, we see the genealogy of the Lord Jesus Christ through His mother, Mary. This is Christ 's legal line that goes through Adam v. 38 . The complete genealogy leads us to apply these words back to Adam. Adam, being descended from no human parents, but formed by God during the Genesis account of creation, thus is called "the son of God ".

Part 2 of 2: I believe I have also stated in many post that Jesus said it, Peter clarified it on the day of Pentecost, and the Apostles carried it out. When a person gets baptized the preacher should say, "I will indeed now baptize you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins ". The preacher should not say "I will baptize you in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Ghost. These are titles, persona 's, offices that Jesus Christ holds. When Jesus Christ made the statement he made in Matthew 28: 19 he was telling the people to baptize in the name not his titles. Jesus Christ is God manifested in the flesh, 1 Timothy 3: 16.

Part 1 of 2: Hello Ar: I humbly say this. I am not in no way offended. I should have started my previous post off the way I started this one off. I am sorry that I miss understood you. It is hard to tell with some of the post how soon they will be posted. I thought I had it down pat but it changes. In most post, if not all, I have to connect with Acts 2: 38 because in the end the salvation plan is the prime directive under this Dispensation of Grace.

Evangelist Chatauna,Remark on ch 3 of Luke. I didn 't say or remark that someone may be confused from your remark. When I wrote my remark ,your two previous remarks were not printed yet. So don 't get offended in any way . You explained very well and in detail as well. Only don 't always connect your remarks with acts 2 38! In the end, if you study well , you will see that acts 2 38 says the same thing as Matth. 28 19. Thank you.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Luke 3 - 9 years ago
Hello Ar I do not think anyone is confused. God did create Adam from the dust and Adam was the first man. This makes God Adam s father through creation. The difference as I stated is that God begot Jesus through a woman. His spirit, which is the Holy Ghost, overshadowed Mary and she conceived. This is very different from Adam being created from dust. Remember all souls belong to God without him nothing is created. We cannot be born or bear children without God allowing us to. He is Alpha and Omega the beginning and ending to all life. After we have followed Acts 2 38 and become in the faith we are all true children of God and belong to him. Romans 8 16 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. In the end, the scripture states that Adam was God s son to. He was made and Jesus was begotten.
