I will surely check into that. I thought that Jesus was at a dinner with the Pharisees-in which Mary Magdalene rushed in to show gratitude by washing Jesus's feet in tears and anointing them with expensive ointment. Jesus was arrested the next evening. By dawn He was ordered to be whipped 40 lashes.

    I'll write later on it.

There are more than a few born again believers that believe that it is much later than we tend to think in the Book of Revelation. The same believe that the virgins with oil in their lamps are ready for the Bridegroom when he comes.

    Revelation 22:20

He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly, Amen.

    Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

    Revelation 3:11

Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man may take your crown.
  • COVENANTS OF GOD - In Reply on Luke 22:18 - 3 years ago
He used wine to represent the blood of Gods Lamb in the instituting of the New Covenant. After Jesus died on the Cross, the Veil (which is Huge) was torn from top to bottom, signifying that the death of the sacrifice, The Lamb of God; that God had provided, was completed. The New Covenant was in force. The Old Covenant had passed away: was torn in half.

The Blood of Jesus RATIFIES the Covenant.

You can slowly read the Covenant that God performed with Abraham in Genesis 15

This is the Covenant that gives Modern Day Israel, the Deed to the Land of Israel.

It's not recorded in a Courthouse. It is recorded in the Bible; and has been there for thousands of years.

It's a legal covenant and the entire planet knows this. That's why they plot and try to force Israel to sign it away: in the 2 State Solution. You should track the progress of that on JerusalemPost on the internet every day.

The whole world is come against Israel settling and building on land that God has clearly given them!! The Palestinians KNOW that land belongs to Israel. Peace in return for breaking Covenant with God. That's what Satan wants. He thinks he will have defeated God if he can make that happen.

Look how small Israel is. It's tiny. Ask yourself WHY is it necessary for the World to go after Israel for this land? It's a heavenly war! It's A COVENANT that GOD ratified HIMSELF.

Jesus paid IN FULL WITH HIS OWN BLOOD to secure ALL SOULS who would come to God for salvation: For GOD so loved the world: John 3:15-18

I'm going to say it cause no one else wants to: Joe Biden has said to news media, that he intends to push the 2 State Solution, or cut ties with Israel.

"Blessed is the Nation who Blesses Israel."

If he does that, then the USA is going to suffer even more than it is now. Then we'll have a bulls-eye drawn into our backs.

Everyone must hurry, change your mind now, Be Born Again NOW! Get your loved ones saved ASAP. Wake up. Quit listening to national news!!

    The "Last Supper"

Wesley refers to the day Christ died as the day of Passover.

The day of the "Last Supper" was not the day of Passover, but the day BEFORE Passover, also called the "Preparation Day"

    John 19:14

"And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!"

To understand the timeline, it must be understood that a Hebrew day begins at SUNSET.

    The commentary:

    Wesley's Notes for Luke 22:18

22:16 For I will not eat thereof any more - That is, it will be the last I shall eat with you before I die. The kingdom of God did not properly commence till his resurrection. Then was fulfilled what was typified by the passover.

22:17 And he took the cup - That cup which used to be brought at the beginning of the paschal solemnity, and said, Take this and divide it among yourselves; for I will not drink - As if he had said, Do not expect me to drink of it: I will drink no more before I die.

22:19 And he took bread - Namely, some time after, when supper was ended, wherein they had eaten the paschal lamb. This is my body - As he had just now celebrated the paschal supper, which was called the passover, so in like figurative language, he calls this bread his body. And this circumstance of itself was sufficient to prevent any mistake, as if this bread was his real body, any more than the paschal lamb was really the passover.

22:20 This cup is the New Testament - Here is an undeniable figure, whereby the cup is put for the wine in the cup. And this is called, The New Testament in Christ's blood, which could not possibly mean, that it was the New Testament itself, but only the seal of it, and the sign of that blood which was shed to confirm it.

Where is the commentary on Luke 22 vs 18.? What was the fruit of the wine. Actual wine or grape juice.?

My thought is that because we have laws that allow us to protect ourselves from those that seek to do us harm as well as rob us of all the things needed to survive. Other wise we would be as sheep led to slaughter, taken advantage of at every turn by those that neither believe or have any regard for others but them selves. Of course I will bring up the death of 6 million people in WW 2. Could you stand by and watch your own families lives taken from you before your very eyes and you still live and not raise a hand to try to save them? I am not a war monger by any means, but I believe there is a time and place otherwise we could be speaking German or have Oriental overlords in our lives right now. One other thing I do not think Zondervans had made it to that neighborhood yet.

19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. 20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the NEW TESTAMENT in my BLOOD, which is shed for you.

Note: as it relates to SALVATION, verse 19-20 is the hour that arrived and JESUS is about to established a NEW TESTAMENT, thereby all who chose to or decide to can be saved, see John 3:16-21 and other verses also. Plus JESUS establish a MEMORIAL of for us to remember/ always remembering that day and hour JESUS shed HIS BLOOD for us to be SAVED.

Verily, with all thanks to GOD our Holy Father, all shall see that the fear of man is vanity. For if the man of the world, being Satan, had his own power, he would not use vain fears to deceive men in his wickedness: he would not put forth many shews of terror if it were not vanity. For all power is Christ's in heaven and earth now. It is written, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

I perceive this to mean many pieces instead of one. Their were 12 and maybe more. Kjv . He divided the bread between them. Christ takes the time for each one of us. He is careful, so that they might remember,"do this". This is more than symbolic, Christ is about to do the ultimate for mankind! Our faith is precious and is preserved in this sacrament. Can you imagine so great love.
  • Fred scanlan - In Reply on Luke 22 - 4 years ago
Leroy ,the bible says there is no fear in perfect love 1 john 4 18. You may be correct to say fear is real, especially when we are talking about our flesh. If only we could learn to deny our flesh,Math.16 24 and Take up your cross and follow Him. We are all like Peter, yet we see Peter in the end is crucified . I am crucified with Christ nevertheless I live.Gal.2 20. Staying in His word.
  • Laroy on Luke 22 - 4 years ago
God showed us that we do not even know ourselves! Peter reverted to human nature when fear took over. Imagine all of the wonders and miracles performed by Jesus which Peter witnessed, but imminent death was all that he could think of and denying Christ was his first defense. Many of us would walk that same path today even if we knew that eternal life in heaven is the ultimate goal! Fear is real

The real official reason is as follows: Back in 1611, the past tense was "brake" while the past participle was "broken". "Brake" is now considered obsolete or archaic but was still in use then at the beginning of the 17th century. The shortened form "broke" became really common between the 17th and 18 th century, which was just a touch past when this Bible went into print. From orig.root "bhreg"
  • Tyler replying to James’s comment on Luke 22 - 5 years ago
Look at it this way. Do you understand what the verse is talking about even though the verse uses brake? If so, then just ignore it. Believe me I know. In Acts 13:19 I questioned why Canaan was spelled Chanaan. But eventually I thought, “I know what Paul is talking about.” So, I ignored it and just left it at that. Hopefully this answer will satisfy you. God Bless!

"The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and they that exercise authority upon them are called benefactors." vs 25. This is why we name roads, and buildings, and monuments after successful, and usually rich, men and women. Their successes, their riches, give them a worldly authority. Jude tells us though, we should not, "have men's persons in admiration because of advantage" vs 16.
  • Servant of God on Luke 22 - 6 years ago
The trial of the man of God, where the unanswerable questions are raised. It is the paradox that God is in man and the flesh profiteth nothing. It is what Jesus came to convey and demonstrate and confirm. But his return, I believe had happened three days hense.Waiting for Jesus to return and establish a peaceful world is pure fantasy. What would he look like. A Romanesque white man.Not.

The whole chapter blessed me in a time where I'm just wondering why am I still going through the same thing. But, God who spoke allowing me to see and know I suffer for you.I ask the father to let this cup pass from me but I said (Nevertheless)not my will but let YOUR WILL be done. So the word that stands out to me is we must have a NEVERTHELESS in our spirit.

    Keep the faith..

Hi Jenna; I think you might be referring to the Day of the LORD, the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ in power and great glory: "The sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars shall fall from the heavens, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken." That's a lot different than an eclipse! Is that what you were thinking about? The Lord bless you, Sister.

vs. 54- Following afar off is the major and first sign of backsliding. Those who had the culture of walking behind and not been willing to be known, engaged or effective in the things of the Lord are often prey to the roaring lion who is seeking whom to devour.
