To Daniel - you did know the 'eye of a needle' was the small gate/door off to the side of the large one? the 'needle' was for people on foot, while the large one was for commercial vehicles, camels, etc.
  • Daniel on Luke 18 - 7 years ago
The possibility of a rich man entering heaven is likened to a camel entering a needle. As we pursue our earthly treasures, let us keep in mind the fact that the kingdom of Christ should be above everything.

I love this chapter. But, if people could see Luke 18:43. I feel there would be more believers. The men ask Jesus for his sight, and Jesus gave it to him on the spot. But, Jesus also said his faith saved him.
  • Lucinda Palestrant on Luke 18 - 8 years ago
Luke 18:8 "I tell you that he will avenge speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?"
(Interesting question to ponder, God knows who the hypocrites are, he even questions will there be any faith at all on the earth. Scary!)
  • Lucien on Luke 18 - 8 years ago

IN A WORLD THAT MEN HAVE MADE FUN OF GOD IT 'S DIFFICULT TO BELIEVE. BUT THOSE WHO DARE TO PUT THEIR TRUST WILL REAP GREAT BLESSINGS. I DO NOT MEAN 'SELFISH BLESSINGS ' BUT BLESSINGS TO BLESS OTHERS. THAT IS WHY WE ARE HERE. WE ARE CHANNELS OF GOD 'S BLESSINGS TO THIS WORLD. THE MORE WE DARE THE MORE WE CAN CHANGE SITUATIONS FOR HIS GLORY!!

  • Oliver Onyema on Luke 18 - 8 years ago
Verse 1 to 8 the Lord explicitly revealed to believers the essence and efficacy of persistency in faith prayer while verse 35 to 43 goes to teach us who are todays believers or readers who have or is hearing about Jesus the need to hold him and benefit from Him. For like the blind man because of his blindness wasn 't able to see Jesus physically we the bible readers of our time were not opportuned to see him physically but can through faith in his name what we have heard about him pray in faith persisting no matter what is the problem facing us and will be delivered, for if this blind man who was blind from birth and having not seen any medicine or science restore sight to any blind person but still had faith in Jesus repeatedly shouting for Jesus mercy despite peoples rebuke and until he attracted Jesus attention to himself and when the Lord asked him what he needs he asked for what is mathematically scientifically impossible with man and got it all men can have whatever we can in faith and persistently ask from Him

On verse 22, Jesus test the rich man where his heart focus is,, in following Jesus or in his Possession. God wants us to succeed, to have more abundant life. but God wants us not to depend on our Possession but always depend on Him. and let our Possession serve to others...God Bless...

The same way Yeshua could forgive sin even though the Rabbis said only God could forgive sin. Yeshua is entrapping them in their own attempted trap.

Jesus is the word of God, He who loves him will keep his words and commandments till rapture. Jesus is the only Healer, Provider, Righteous, Merciful, Powerful God and the only Jehovah. Blessed are those who have heard his voice as they shall see the Glory of God and will be saved. All words that Jesus spake comes from the Father who has sent him for us. Jesus loves you
  • Ava on Luke 18:19 - 9 years ago
Jesus affirms himself as God in John 10:14 I am the Good Shepherd. Psalms 23 and Ezekiel 24, God himself is the Shepherd, thus Jesus takes upon himself another title of God. One thing interesting about this verse is the fact that the rich ruler calls Jesus "Good teacher, " I don 't think this is one of God 's titles. One also has to understand that a rabbi at the time often ask questions to see if a follower was qualified to be a disciple. The rabbi would determine the followers knowledge by his answer.
