The Key is if your brother sins seven times in a day, and returns with a repentant heart, you shall forgive him. Jesus told Peter in Matthew 18 that you are to forgive your brother seventy times seven. To forgive is to cast away, in the depths of the ocean, and don't fish for the sin anymore. Just as when God forgives, He does not remember the sin anymore. Just as if you never sinned. So let all bitterness, wrath, and malice be put away from you. Be ye kind, tenderhearted, and forgiving one another, just as God has forgiven you in Christ Jesus.

Verses 26-37 are describing how things will be likened before the second advent (return) of Christ and using the days of Noah ( Genesis 6-9), and the days of Lot ( Genesis 18 and 19) as ensamples.
    a. Verses 34-37 are describing a post tribulation rapture ( Revelation 11:11, 12) to take place after the abomination of desolation (anti-Christ) breaks the peace treaty with Israel at mid-tribulation ( Daniel 9:27).
  • Jay on Luke 17 - 11 years ago
The kingdom of God is a spiritual kingdom ( Romans 17:14) and comes not by observation (verse 20).
    a. The kingdom of God comes by believing and receiving ( Romans 10:10) Jesus Christ into your heart (soul) as your personal savior;
    b. Anyone who has never humbled themselves ( James 4:6) and invited Jesus Christ into their heart (soul) being born again not by corruptible seed becomes the exception regardless what some people believe.
  • Jay on Luke 17 - 11 years ago
In verse 17, Jesus is making an observation of man's heart ( Jeremiah 17:5-10), on how most do not give the Almighty God the gratitude he so richly deserves for the everyday miracles he performs just to sustain life and supply all our needs according to his riches and glory ( Philippians 4:19) and how the rain falls upon the just and the unjust.

There seems to be a great deal of confusion of verse 37. If we take the entire discourse (20-37) into concideration it should be obvious Jesus is talking about His return, which is the second coming. 1 Thess. 4:13-18 reveals the same message, the question of vs. 37 of Lk. 17 was addressed to Jesus,"Where Lord" refering to a location. Jesus said one will be taken and the other left, therefore the question would be directed to "where will the one be taken".

    TRUTH
Luke Chapter 17:21 21Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. Lu 17:21 Is within you. A kingdom that has its throne in the heart, on which Christ, the King, sits. It has to be formed by yielding our hearts to Christ.
    - People's Bible
Romans Chapter 14:17 17For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. Ro 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink. Christ's dominion; the church visibly; personally, his sway over your soul. This does not depend on "meat and drink". It rises higher than food questions. For the kingdom of God is not food and drink, but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.
    - Webster's Bible Personally, its essence is not in external things. It consists of: Righteousness. Justification; the forgiveness of sins. Peace. Reconciliation to God, and peace of soul as the result. And joy in the Holy Ghost
Righteousness Proverb 11:5 5The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness. The Perfect is God Himself who shall direct His Way in you. By His Spirit, Holy Spirit. The Lord puts the upright and the sinner to the test, but he has hate in his soul for the lover of violent acts. Darby Bible He who goes on his way uprightly, doing righteousness, and saying what is true in his heart; Darby Bible Prov. 15:2 Knowledge is dropping from the tongue of the wise; but from the mouth of the foolish comes a stream of foolish words. Darby Bible In your name will they have joy all the day: in your righteousness will they be lifted up. Darby Bible Psalms 85 10Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed [each other]. Mercy and faith have come together; righteousness and peace have given one another a kiss. Darby Bible
Joy ~ But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, a quiet mind, kind acts, well-doing, faith,
    - Darby Bible Gal 5:22,23 But the fruit of the Spirit. The fruits named are not our fruits, but of the Spirit in us. If we bear these fruits we show that we have the Spirit. There are four groups: Love. The Christian grace which works out the whole law. Joy, peace. The normal state of the Christian. Longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness. The graces which relate to others. Temperance. Or self-control. The last fruit looks to oneself. It implies not only abstinence from injurious drinks and food, but control of the temper, the tongue, the desires, the passion for money or power. People's Bible
Gal 55 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
Gal 56 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Gal 57 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again
John 3:5 Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, etc. Jesus does not reply directly to the question of Nicodemus, but proceeds to give more explicit statement concerning the new birth. One must be born of water and of the Spirit. Whatever this may mean, it will be admitted by all (1) that no one is a member of the kingdom of God until he is born again; (2) that the Savior declares the impossibility of one entering who is not born of water and of the Spirit. All agree that the birth of the Spirit refers to the inward, or spiritual change that takes place, and all candid authorities agree that "born of water" refers to baptism. So Alford, Wesley, Abbot, Whitby, Olshausen, Tholuck, Prof. Wm. Milligan, the Episcopal Prayer Book, the Westminister Confession, the M. E. Discipline, and M. E. Doctrinal Tracts, and also the writers of the early Church all declare. Alford says: ``All attempts to get rid of this have sprung from doctrinal prejudices.'' Abbott says: ``We are to understand Christ as he expected his auditor to understand him. John the Baptist baptized both Jew and Gentile as a sign of purification by repentance from past sins. Nicodemus would then have certainly understood by the expression, "born of water", a reference to this rite of baptism.'' People's Bible
Joel 2:28 And after that, it will come about, says the Lord, that I will send my spirit on all flesh; and your sons and your daughters will be prophets, your old men will have dreams, your young men will see visions: Darby Bible
Acts 2:17 It shall come to pass in the last days. The phrase "Last days" was used by the Jews to denote the last dispensation, that of Christ. See Isa 2:2. I will pour out of my Spirit. A figurative expression to indicate abundant gifts of the Spirit. Upon all flesh. On all races, not on the Jews alone. Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy. "To prophesy" in the New Testament means to communicate religious truth by divine authority, as well as to foretell the future. The prophecy was fulfilled in the inspired speaking on Pentecost and afterwards, as well as by the daughters of Philip (21:9). It will be seen that both sexes are included. See visions . . . dream dreams. Such visions as that of Peter at Joppa (Ac 10:9-16). Such dreams as that of Paul at Troas, where he saw the Macedonian asking him to "Come and help us" (Ac 16:9). Luke 4:18 The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because I am marked out by him to give good news to the poor; he has sent me to make well those who are broken-hearted; to say that the prisoners will be let go, and the blind will see, and to make the wounded free from their chains,

Acts 2:33, 39, 40 33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, [even] as many as the Lord our God shall call Ac 2:39 For the promise. Of pardon, and the gift of the Spirit. Unto you. Even unto those who rejected the Lord. To your children. Your children after you. To all that are afar off. To the Gentiles. That he refers to the Gentiles is shown in the next clause, [even] as many as the Lord our God shall call. Peter spoke as the Spirit gave him utterance, and perhaps did not fully comprehend his own words. People's Bible
40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Acts 2:40 Save yourselves. This was the object of the "many other words". They could "save themselves" by complying with the conditions named in Ac 2:38, and thus accepting Christ as their Savior. From this perverse generation. The wicked Jewish race People's Bible

Colossians 1:27 To whom God would make known what [is] the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: To whom God would make known. In Luke 17 Jesus has made us to understand that, every thing we do, let it be for him and not against him.
Not because it is written that he who kills with knife dies by knife, you will be the one to take that revenge, no, He was crucified, when he had every power, authority, and the ability to destroy, but he never even thought of that, the only right thing he thought was to rather pray for those who did crucified him, just to teach us that vengeance is not ours, we should try our best to always think of him before we react, for he is seeking only for our little trust in him and our desires will come to pass.

Lord please bless all whom lacks faith and whom are unbelievers. You are God and no one shall be praised above you. We all have doubt at times Lord and are not patient to receive your blessings when you Lord God feel they are needed. Please forgive your children as we learn to walk your path as we should. Lord we beg you forgive us for sins known and unknown an guide us to your light of rightousness. Amen

Verse 34 simply means that only those who live righteous lives will inherit the kingdom of God. So, of two people living together (they could be brothers/sisters/friends or other relations)one righteous and the other unrighteous, the righteous will be taken away to heaven when Jesus comes while the unrighteous will be left behind for punishment.
  • Jason G on Luke 17 - 12 years ago
What Jesus is saying here is that in what ever we do we must believe (that is have FAITH) and anything is possible remember HE says with HIM all things are possible and he want us to trust in HIM and he also say that the Kingdom of God is within us as Christians God is our father and Jesus is our brother everything thing here on earth is vanity so let us not put these things before God he loves us with an everlasting love so dear ones let us put God first in whatever we do.When you read the bible do not read it in your mind because "Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God" if you read in your mind there is no way you can hear the words when you start reading this way you will see all the distraction you get

Jesus wants his childrens to always give thanks to him in all that he does for us. God is kind to the unthankful and to the evil. Its heartbreaking to God for us to get our request answered and then go about our business as usual without saying thank you. God have mercy on us for we have sinned days without numbers in that we have forgotten you the living God.

Apparently, the Pharisees expected the kingdom of God to be obvious and have a definate starting time. Jesus responded by saying, not so, but the kingdom of God is within / in your midst. The word "Kingdom" indicates the realm in which God's government and purposes are functioning; wherever God's righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Ghost prevail ( Rom. 14:17). According to Jesus' railing on the Pharisees' religion, He was most likely not saying they had God's kingdom in their hearts. I feel He meant the miracles of healing, deliverence from evil spirits, and good news that He taught was God's domain in their midst. Believers are now translated into the kingdom of the Son ( Col. 1:13), but the full function of God's kingdom will be awsome. Lets press into it.
  • Isaias on Luke 17 - 14 years ago
trough a real faith in God Man need not have to go on places to worship God ,or worship what so ever that he see,or go to plenty of religion which is present this days.A real believer must just pray inside his room and his creator will answer him.He must not listen to a any one telling that God is here or there for God is our personal teacher and saviour deep witin us .He always tells us devine knowledge but we usually dont listen , instead we listen to lies and bad influences in this world.God is within us so we dont need to be frightened to any consiquences in this world.
