  • Scott on Luke 1 - 3 years ago
I have been a Christian for many years but not lived as I should, I am now in my fifties and recent health issues have compelled me to study the bible. I picked the first chapter of Luke out of thin air-not even knowing the content. Looking forward to getting closer to my savior JESUS CHRIST!

20 and, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.

Note: according to the above, Time arrived for both John and JESUS to enter the world, thereby ..., ...., ..., plus 77-79 SALVATION for all mankind is about to reach all mankind..

What does it mean to constantly see letter S?
  • Avanelle - In Reply on Luke 1 - 4 years ago
I found the answer to the genealogy in Matthew Henry's commentary. Luke gave elements of Mary's genealogy as well as Joseph's that's why both accounts differ.
  • Avanelle - In Reply on Luke 1 - 4 years ago
Hi David, I am not sure if you're still around and still trying to figure out the genealogy (since your comments were over 8 years ago) but one thing I have seen is that you do love the Lord and want to know Him a lot more; hence all the questions. The Bible also says no man knoweth the Father, save the Son and whomsoever the Son revealeth Him to. I can't answer the genealogy cause I do think generations are missing myself, for instance Matthew Chapter 1 and Luke Chapter 3 some people were added and some were left out between those 2 accounts. So I thought to myself, I may have to read over the Bible entirely and draw a family tree to figure it out or just wait for the Lord's revelation.

    72
    To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant;
    73
The oath which he sware to our father Abraham,
    74
That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear,
    75
In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.

  • Jesus Christ was Born in December on Luke 1 - 4 years ago
Jesus could have only been Born in December which is Confirmed in Scripture. There are Unproven Theories claiming Jesus wasn't Born than and that as Christians we shouldnt Celebrate Christmas at this time and the same with Easter but when examined in the Light of Scripture by the Empowering of The Holy Spirit they have no substance or Truth and are mostly hearsay and fiction, they come from Man s own fleshy logic, understanding and reasoning. God tells us we are not to Agree with or Support those who Teach contrary to His Revealed Truth and we will know when it is by The Empowering of The Holy Spirit as we read the Scriptures. I will share some soon that confirm Jesus was Born in December.

It's so amazing what he did for us and still fights for us. Very thankful . He deserves so much praise and worship and love. Thank God for sending blessing and precious gift to die on the cross for our sins. Words cannot explain the gratitude I feel for all he's done for me and my family. Thankful for his love. The blood still cleanses from sin and changes you. Miracles signs, wonders.
  • Daniel - In Reply on Luke 1 - 4 years ago
My spirit has rejoiced in God my savior. He has done great and wonderful things for me. Blessed is the name of God forever and ever who has given to us the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, his only son for us that we might have eternal life. Therefore let every man be reconciled to God, for he has made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth. Praise God forever.

Names given by Angels identified their life purpose. The names identified who they were ordained by God. The words of the prophets of the old testament were to be full filled of the coming of the savior. Everything happened in accordance to the prophecy and could not be altered.
  • Gary Olsen on Luke 1 - 4 years ago
Luke 1:13 Why did the angel sent by God to Zacharias tell him to call his coming son's name John which means "God's gift"? Why did the same angel who was sent by God to Mary tell her to call her coming son's name Jesus which means "savior" (1:31)? These names were prophetic. They were a message to us from God that he was going to give us a gift of our salvation through Jesus our Lord and savior.

1-80 above we learn of GOD's plan that would redeem the sinful human race from sin; This plan of GOD would require GOD to send HIS son into the world (through Mary) then allow HIS son to be sacrificed, thereby establishing the means for all sinners /mankind to have available to them SALVATION that they may be be Saved from the lake of fire.

V.15; "For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, ..." How many people today seek to be great in the sight of man rather than seek to be great in the sight of God? Whoever will be great in the sight of God must be ready to apply Vs 15-17: Keep your self pure, be filled with the Holy Spirit, evangelize..

Verses 46-55~When we examine Mary's words, we see that her prayer shared the same expressions as Hannah had at 1 Samuel chapter 2. Mary was a keen student of God's Word.

"Whereby shall I know this, for I am an old man...blah blah blah" An angel appears from our of the right side of the altar of incense, and you become filled with fear, and you hear the angel begin to tell you something absolutely wonderful; and with your very next breath you can't help but show how you have to maintain this stubborn false realism, and demand proof an angel from God is telling you?
  • A disciple on Luke 1 - 6 years ago
"For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy." God breathed into man's nostrils the Breath of Life and he became a living soul. At the moment of conception, the living soul is replicated and begins to grow in the womb of its mother. The pure and innocent infant's soul rejoices at the voice of God's Blessed Elect because they have Jesus!

"Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee.." Many of us at first glance, have it hard to see the difference between Mary's answer and Zachariah's. But while the words of both were so similar, God knew what was the thought and intention.
  • A disciple on Luke 1 - 6 years ago
"Zachariah said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this?..And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God;.." It seems amazing to us how Zachariah could answer like that; to still be so willfully unbelieving even while experiencing a heavenly visitation! It is no virtue or superiority of intellect; but a moral error! We must be people who believe the truth.
  • Servant of God on Luke 1 - 6 years ago
Luke was the best of the biographers of his day, bringing forth progenitors of Jesus and John, who would change the Spiritual landscape of Israel, God sending the High Priests, John and Jesus, being cousins, each having a role to play, each being miraculously born to righteous Jews! For the Jews sought out the Messiah to bring the word of God,to further their understanding of King of Kings, YHWH
