Verse 37: Mary was an excellent example of faith. She knew that with Jehovah God, nothing is impossible.

Irene (verse 4); Theophilus was the High Priest at the time Luke wrote his books; and the writings were to testify to the fulfillment of the Scriptures that he has been taught, that the LORD's Anointed had indeed come in the flesh, and that all these things are what was foretold through the Prophets, beginning with Moses' writings. It does not indicate that Theophilus was at all converted.

"..it seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto you in order, most excellent Theophilus, that you might know the certainty of those things, wherein you have been instructed." Theophilus was the High Priest at the time; and it was to confirm the fulfillment of the Scriptures, to those ordained to be the Keepers of the Holy Testimony.

"Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God." "..every spirit that confesses not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God" 1 Jn. 4:1-6.

    V. 3 - " ..... most excellent Theophulis; v.4 - "That thou mightiest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed." "excellent" sounds like perhaps he was someone of the Temple, but Luke does not say, so neither can we state it as fact. But, he was a convert to Christianity of Luke's, We can know that much as per Luke's words to him. cont.
