Our family loves the Lord and tries to keep his commandments. It is apparent in our life that he takes care of us in all the ways he states in this passage. It is evident in our extended family as well. Our beautiful country in God we trust, has also provided for us as a whole. It 's apparent as we turn away from him that he will turn away from us. I pray as a nation we can stand strong in Him.

Leviticus 26 46. Hollywood would have you believe that ten commandments were given to Moses over the space of 40 days and nights. This verse proves that there was much more to it than that.
  • James on Leviticus 26:1 - 9 years ago

Although not all the Bible is written to us it is all written for us. This is directly dealing with the promise to the Isrealites under God's Care. But, the principle applies also to Christians. Honor the real God not the one you have created for yourself and honor his house and he will bless you. (This is Dealing with saved people or like Israel, "Gods People".)
Chose to disrespect him, dishonor his house, and do things your own way and he will chasten you. This is a direct command to Israel and is a valuable principle for Christians.
(In answer to Sean's)Free will doesn't apply here Obedience does. As a Christian you have freewill to chose to be a child of God(Israel did not have that choice they were chosen by God)After which you are to be obedient to the commands of God or suffer his chastisement.(His correction..ie punishment.
And as freewill goes, there is always a consequence to the choices we make. Blessing for good, punishment for bad.

It is written that Jesus was nailed to the Cross nailing these commandments there doing away with them and the rules and regulations. That he paid the price that all these commands said was required for all who would believe in Him. Death. He took our death.. as no one can perfectly keep these commands.

The enemies of God are the peoples not obeying and keeping the commandment of God. The Lord promise is peoples is blessing if they obey him and ready to keep his way. The sword is the words of God and when you are at the war front ,you use the sword to kill your enemies.

Gods promise of rain in due season is as a result of the fulfillment of verses 1-3 of that same chapter. In order words you can make your due season by remaining spiritual.
  • Ruth Moreau on Leviticus 26:19 - 11 years ago
Oh, Yes, The Almighty is just keeping his word. He is always faithful to us but we are so unfaithful to Him. What we are seeing in the world today is nothing compared to what is coming. The weather patterns, floods, earthquakes, pestilence, wars - all foretold so long ago. The power of the holy people is scattered. The pride of America, the greatest nation on earth, is surely being broken - their earth is like brass with thousands of acres in drought and food shortages are looming with hurricanes and floods (Sandy). They have broken their covenant with the Almighty and are a nation under judgement. God is not mocked and His Word will not return to him void. We either obey His laws or be broken by them. I am the Lord, I change not. Ruth Moreasu

Because God gave us the bible, prophets/prophetess, and his only son Jesus Christ. He gave us a law, and expects us to follow it. He gave us free will, and a choice, whatever we do with that choice is of our own fault. He even offeres a free pass from being punished for former sins through jesus' sacrifice.
The reason why we still fall even when we do the best we can is mabey that is gods way of keeping you humble, or him simply testing you. You're supposed to walk by faith, not by sight. If god gave us everything we wanted we wouldn't mature through tough times. Do as the lord says and even if in this life their is no reward there will be when we are raised up on the last day. All of our hearts desires will be answered.
