  • Rochana Rolfe on Leviticus 11 - 6 years ago
For those who obey the dietary laws. Guess what? You are keeping God's commandments. John 14:15, "If you love Me, keep my commandments." Wasn't God telling Moses and Aaron to tell the children of Israel what foods to eat and not to eat. If God is speaking, then how has these commandments suddenly change in 2017. Isn't God the same yesterday, today, and forever. This is not rocket science, people!
  • Alex on Leviticus 11 - 7 years ago
Except the ceremonial laws that were pointing to Jesus ( col 2:14-17), counsels on clean/unclean foods in Lev 11 are still binding. God will not alter anything that proceeds out of His lips ( Psalms 89:34, Heb 13:8).

This chapter is difficult for me to understand. As I read it, I think much of what is sold in the grocery stores and at farmers ' markets is unclean, i.e. rabbit, pig, chicken, shrimp are a few. Amy I wrong about the chicken? Verse 21...Do chickens have feet above their feet?
  • Bertha Marsh on Leviticus 11:3 - 8 years ago

Leviticus 11 teaches that we should obey God 's laws by not eating and touching unclean animals. If we were obeying all these laws there would not be so much diseases in the world.

    23. But any other flying insect that has four legs, is an abomination for you. This is the exact translation from Jewish Old Testament. It does not mention birds, nor KJV refers to birds, but insects. And there are flying insects with more than two feet example big cockroaches
  • Andrew Carnegie on Leviticus 11 - 9 years ago

God's word is never wrong. Man interprets it wrong. The KJV is the most accurate Bible. Even then it is best to check the Strong's and companion Bible and Hebrew , Greek original Bible. Fine example is the word fear and Easter.
  • Joe on Leviticus 11:3 - 10 years ago
This is very difficult for me.
  • Daniel Campbell on Leviticus 11 - 10 years ago
Grace does not give you a license to sin according to 1 John 3:4 Sin is the transgession of Gods Law the blood of Christ forgives you of your past sins Romans 3:24 and allows you yo be reconciled back to God youre saved by grace because you did nothing to earn this however dont take advantage of Gods grace by disobying his law.
  • Daniel Campbell on Leviticus 11 - 10 years ago
These laws are very much binding not only for now but also for the Kingdom of God Read Is 66:17 and Is 65:4-5
  • Joan on Leviticus 11 - 10 years ago
for those who claim on keeping the commandments, do you offer burnt offerings and sin offerings and the like? all these laws came to an end once Jesus came and introduced grace
  • Aldred on Leviticus 11:18 - 11 years ago
The Pelican? Jackdor, The Hebrew translator of the AV came up with "pelican" because the verb translates as vomit or reject for Ha Ka'at and this was considered as a feature of this bird. Leviticus 11:18. At least NIV keeps to "desert owl" for Deuteronomy 14:17 and Psalm 102:6 whereas NKJ Leviticus 11:18 and Deteronomy 14:17 the jackdaw appears for the same Hebrew word, the Pelican!. From Psalm 102:6 the "desert owl" flying through the ruins may be the right answer? Where does the "white" of white owl come from? The "swan" but where does the same word get its "mole" in the AV Deteronomy 14:17 I wonder. Most calamitous of all what is a gier eagle. I cannot find the word "gier" in the Oxford Dictionary!
  • Hollie on Leviticus 11 - 11 years ago
I do know this, those with a Jewish bloodline are more susceptible to colon cancer if they do not adhere to the dietary laws, whether they are faithful or atheist. A family member of mine was told this before her colonoscopy. Actually, countless cancers can be traced to impure diet. Christ openly said he did not come to do away with the Old Testament, but to fulfil it. I think something has been vastly misinterpreted. How are we to know what the original text said? Christ would never override the Words of the Father.

    @Casey,
    Colossians 2:
16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.
    God bless you.

In spite of clear cut instructions in US and all of over East Asia, people salivate at pork products, snakes and other unclean things. Though consciously one should aspire not to eat these unclean things. I have this question about a verse in the Bible wherein Jesus says Its not what goes into your mouth that defiles you; you are defiled by the words that come out of your mouth. and explains this verse below Dont you understand yet? Jesus asked. 17 Anything you eat passes through the stomach and then goes into the sewer. 18 But the words you speak come from the heartthats what defiles you. 19 For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander. These are what defile you. Eating with unwashed hands will never defile you. now note Lord Jesus has mentioned eating with unwashed hands will never defile you ( does it included what the unclean animals too or just the clean animals eaten with unwashed hands)?

Rhonda, Your question in Leviticus 11 about Catfish.
Catfish has no scales and stay close to the bottom
of what water their in, eat any decaded flesh they might run across. Catfish should not be eaten. I know thats not what lots of people likes to hear.
Please keep reading the KJV bible and study God's word.
    God bless,
    James
