Wesley's Notes for Leviticus 18:21

18:21 Pass through fire - This was done, either by burning them in the fire, or by making them pass between two great fires, which was a kind of consecration of them to that God. Moloch - Called also Milcom, was an idol chiefly of the Ammonites. He seems to be the Saturn of the heathens, to whom especially children and men were sacrificed. This is mentioned, because the neighbours of Israel were most infected with this idolatry, and therefore they are particularly cautioned against it, though under this one instance all other idols and acts, or kinds of idolatry, are manifestly comprehended and forbidden.

To all those who lie to us, and say that No one can keep the commandments; Which one in particular is it just impossible for you to keep? Is it any here, that warn we shall not do these abominations?

    V. 21 - "and thou shalt let not any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech ..... "; This is what Solomon ended up doing, after the great start he had. It bothered me for quite that Solomon was listed in Jesus genealogy, but then the led led me to the verses about - in a great house are the good and bad. I had read them before, but hadn't associated them with Jesus.

Leah, what you said is true it is God's Word period. God bless us all and in the understanding of his Word. Glory be to Jehovah in the highest through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen!
  • It is God 's word. The son of God Jesus died for our sins so that we may repent and be forgiven. In the Heavenly Father 's eyes, this is a abomination disgust, filthy, dirty . Whether you think it is right or wrong, it is written that God finds it to his dislike. I think you could even say he hates the thought of same sex relationships. It is my opinion. For he shall be the judge in the end. God Help Us all!
