JOSHUA 8:34 and afterward he read ** all the words ** of the law the blessings and the cursings according to all that is written in the book of the law JEREMIAH 11:8 yet they obeyed not nor inclined their ear but walked everyone in the imagination of their evil heart therefore I will bring upon ** all the words ** of this covenant which I commanded them to do but they did them not

Verse 1: Jehovah had reassured Joshua that he would be victorious. He had already planned to give the king of Ai into Joshua's hand.
  • A disciple
"..I have given into thy hand the king of Ai, and his people, and his city, and his land:" For those who are familiar with the Scriptures, you have noted how significant an issue it is with God about the heathen that have ruined the world since the flood, and their great city and tower and all that they have imagined against the LORD, and His Anointed. Israel was to be God's Army to overcome them.
  • A disciple
"And the Lord said unto Joshua, Fear not, neither be thou dismayed: take all the people of war with thee, and arise, go up.." Joshua did not inquire of the LORD before the disaster at Ai; just as would later happen with the men of Gibeon. Now that the holiness and obedience has been restored, the LORD gives specific guidance, and assures victory. We must pray first and set all in order before God.

I am blessed with the power shown by the God of order

Chapter 8 reminds the believer to be diligent in terms of following GOD 'S directives. By following HIS directives, we will remain conquerors in the face of the most severe battles!

THERE WAS A REASON FOR SUCH A SMART MILITARY MOVE THAT GOD HAD JOSHUA MAKE AGAINST THEIR ENEMIES. WITHOUT GODS LEADING THEY WOULD HAVE PERISHED ,BY THE HAND OF THESE ENIMIES ,AND NOT HAVE REACHED GOD 'S DESTANY FOR THEM TO THIS DAY .

I believe we must hold onto God during stuff times, against all attacks they may come upon us. In this Chapter there are five words that are repeated which gives me hope, " And it came to pass ". So whatever battle we are facing it will pass in the name of Jesus!

i have a question, why are people condemming other versions bible

Have you actually pondered on the reasons and the effect of the spear the Lord asked Joshua to stretched out towards Ai? To me, the spear jerked those soldiers in ambush into action and at the same time connotes total elimination of the heathen nation, Ai. Joshua never withdrew his hand until a land-slide victory was achieved. We need to fear this God. He is indeed a 'Man' of war.
  • Nancy Murkeldove
I think Joshua was a man led by God and it is the only way that we as American will succeed in this day and time
  • Phinehas
Dear brothers and sisters! I have a question. Is it a sin to deceive the people of Ai? Does ambushing disagrees with the command "thou shalt not lie"?
  • Marko M German
God promises all a life that is victorious, that's if we obey every word He tells us. On a contrary to victorious life following our obedience before Him, He announces defeat unto us if we turn our back to his decrees. Every man must learn to hold fast to whatever God asks us to do or else, he shall suffer consequences.
  • Joshua for verse 30
children of God should obey God all the time.
  • James
    Bro. Wayne,
I pray that all might see that the KJV 1611 is the only way.
Man has changed God's word, not God.
May God Bless you and yours.
  • Rev. Wayne Dunkerley for verse 31
I think the 1611 version is awesome. That's the version we need to be preaching out of.
