Many may find in interesting that many scholars believe John 7:52-8:11 to be spurious, that is false and not part of the original Bible Canon. Why? The earliest Greek manuscripts do not contain this portion. Most all of the study editions of bibles, including KJV make note of this. This would stand to reason and not give people an excuse to do whatever, as is in harmony with the rest of the scriptures. Jude 4

I 've just read the last 12 verses as part of my Forward Day By Day reading, and I 've garnered this Jesus is telling us that no matter what we feel we know it is nothing if we do not know and hear God 's words to our heart. This I think sets the stage for our guidance through THIS PHYSICAL WORLD - hearing God 's words and through this hearing we honour God and Jesus. The Jews, only did the first and understood not that Jesus was around from the beginning with God, and Abraham knew this and knew what was to come so it filled him with joy when Jesus became physical - maybe he believed that the Jews would jump at the opportunity to embrace Jesus and absorb his words, as this was a direct way to know better and honour God.

I think we need to read more about the bible. To understand what he is trying to say, and set on the right hand of god.

1 can 't separate love and forgiveness! Jesus understands our levels of condemnation even if 1 has committed sin that 's why He stooped down on the floor He was assuring the woman that 'I 'Jesus can reach to your level too 4 He died only 4 the sinners so tht they will sin no more , I love the message of the cross that He shared wth the woman in verse 11 'Go home sin no more. If we can learn from Him and do wright this world Will never be the same. Thanks.

All believers are saints. Believers were but are not presently "just a sinner saved by grace ". Yes, while on this earth the saint of God can commit sin, but it is not who the saint really is in Christ. Christians do commit sins - every day. This statement is not a license to commit sin, but an acknowledgement of the obvious and point out that all believers have the provision of Christ and his Holy Spirit to not fall into temptation and then commit sin. If my name were Smith and I told my son "Smith 's do not lie " and then he lies - is he still a Smith. Of course he is. Then can a Smith lie. Of course they can. The point of saying to my son, "Smith 's do not lie " is not to say that if he lies he disqualifies himself as a "Smith " but to demonstrate to my son that as a Smith he does not have to lie. He, as a Smith, has the standing and provision and liberty to not sin.

Thus, it comes down to this: Is discipleship a condition for salvation, or is discipleship a chosen path of commitment that some saved persons pursue while other saved persons do not?....To those believing saved Jews, Jesus says, If you continue abide or remain in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed. Those who are willing to pay the price of discipleship are truly disciples not merely pupils, but engaged adherents of Christ s teaching. These are the ones whose works for Christ will survive the testing furnace at the Judgment Seat. While others will be saved, yet so as by fire, these true disciples will be rewarded for their fruitfulness. We can, therefore, conclude that while all disciples are believers, not all believers are disciples.

I think that people judge people from there past even after they receive Jesus as their personal Lord and savior, and people watch them waiting on them to mess up , Jesus is only the perfect one and the judge. I pray for the people that need Jesus , he never said it would be easy!

We must accept God 's word for he is the only truth and the life. He already confirmed his love thru Jesus death on the cross we are saved and became victorious from the works of the defeated enemy. We are now lived because of God 's forgiveness. fix your eyes to God and eat his heavenly manna , the word of God which gives us life and never see death

He meant what he said. If you go back to living the same way as you did before you are still a sinner. The bible said he that be of God sins not . You are Good or Evil . Jesus made a way for us to live right he sent the Holy Ghost to lead and guide us into all truth . With God All THing Are Possible . Amen

Continuing to cast stones provides no room for repentance Jesus is a god of mercy and kindness but for those who are seeing them self as perfect and without sin God wants us to make sure that it is through the mercy of the Lord 's Grace we can learn to forgive one another he chose to ignore the accusations and kept writing in the sands instead of gathering up stones to cast at the accused this is example of his mercy towards they that have transgressed against his holy word may we praise the Lord and continue to see how Jesus is showing us it is through the mercy and kindness of our lord we can be made overcome how wonderful it is to be saved from sin God wants us to see this is more significant than the unmerrited thought of self righteousness and not having mercy or forgiveness towards one another Oh how he loves you oh how he loves us praise the Lord each year we have a right to have a religion teach love and forgiveness mercy and kindness,
  • July Hunter on John 8:41 - 9 years ago
Many stories in the Bible revolve around genealogy. Noah wasn 't chosen because he was a particularly holy type of person. He was chosen because his lineage was not corrupted, corrupted by having ancestors who were less than human, such as from Cain 's line which came from the Devil. There were also Archons and Nefilim ancestors that one could have. Abraham may have certainly been one of their ancestors, but they could also have evil ancestors that made them "Sons of the Devil ". So, it is easy to see that the evil Pharisees and the evil corrupted Jews that Jesus was addressing, could be descendants of Abraham and descendants of evil, at the same time. Those Jews who were not corrupted could see, hear, and understand exactly what Jesus taught.

It is a pity for those who do not know Him, because, He is the truth that can set us free from physical problems, spiritual problems, marital problems, principalities and powers, all manners of sickness, etc.

  • Lars on John 8:44 - 9 years ago
Well, Jesus speaks to jews here. According to the gnostics the god Jahve is the devil, so logically those Jesus speaks to here worship the devil, hence his will they will do. This could be an explanation here if you consider Jesus himself being a gnostic teacher.
  • John dalton on John 8:32 - 9 years ago
It is the Truth shall make you free, not set you free. Once you know the truth the bonds and the thoughts of others no longer mater. You are made free and their hold no longer applies and this includes the bonds and chains of Satan. He can destroy your body but your soul is free.

The light of the world. Is there a greater reason to follow Jesus Christ than this? The darkness in us cannot comprehend the light. yet those who follow me shall not walk in darkness. Take His hand, darkness gone the darkness that had defined my being because it had blocked my understanding of what forms the world light! Shall Have the divine light constantly shining upon him, diffusing over his soul knowledge, holiness, joy. I know this. I have this through my faith I him. Darkness history replaced by such deep love for all for the light is love that brings joy, peace, end of fear. But shall have the light of life. The great gift. It allows the soul to see at last. To see that our reality is abundant love. Oh the happiness!

ETHEL WARE COMMENTS ON JOHN 8 IN THIS chpt, is talking about an adulteress women, and by moses law that she should be stoned to her death, but Jesus knew that she was repentant. JESUS, demonstrated the deity, by saying sin no more, and neither do I condemn you. JESUS, HE was the only one who could condemn her judge her , but he said he that is without sin cast the first stone, no one was without sin of her accusers so no one cast stones, Jesus forgave her of her sins and did not judge her or condemn her. in this case he was not the judge, do to the women repentance. so JESUS do judges
  • Steve on John 8 - 9 years ago
Wait a minute. Jesus says in verse 15 that he does not judge. Then in verse 16 he says "if I judge... " So which is it? Does He judge, or not?

Only one way to sin no more when you have failed the law of sin and death. Marvel not that ye must be born again. Then you are not sinning. Sin is a transgression of the law and makes all men guilty without excuse. Grace and salvation are the Gifts of God. It is His righteousness in you. We had none of our own nor could we. No not one. Vessels filled. Saved to the uttermost on Gods scale. Amen DO NOT discount the righteousness of God. Read... 1 John 5 13.... 1 John 5 20 .. Hebrews 7 25 7 28!!!... Ephesians 2 8, Romans 8 1 2, Romans 6 22 defines a saved person "now ". The End is "surely " written note. Trust in the Lord he meant this John 6 44. He will do that. And he did this FOR US . Not us...Him! Hebrews 9 12 It is finished.
  • Alfreda Hyatte on John 8 - 9 years ago
I love John 8 . It teaches us how to walk in faith by believing Jesus is the son of God. He is the way the truth and the life and in order to live forever we have to follow after him. About the woman caught in adultery it teaches us not to judge For we all have sin and fallen short of the Glory of God. It teaches us that even though we have fallen we can be forgiven. It teaches us to forgive just as Jesus forgave the woman and told her to go and sin know more her sins were forgiven . It teaches us to fight back with the word of truth . It teaches us that the word convicts by the accusers walking away one by one.
