Look into the life of Constantine Simonides, he was likely the greatest forger than ever lived, and he claimed he was the one who forged the SINacticus manuscripts which do not match the Vatican manuscripts. It is full of corrections and I would never trust it for anything.

The Vaticanus (look at the last 4 letters) are missing the entire book of revelation. National Geographic has an article on why many scholars believe at least 5 of the dead sea scrolls are modern forgeries that the museum paid millions for.

SInacticus and Vaticanus do not match each other. I spent a year on this subject in Bible college on the graduate level.

Should we trust the Vatican manuscripts? You know the group that burned people at the stake for daring to have a Bible? William Tyndale comes to mind.

Just trust the scholars of the King James who knew the languages and what manuscripts to use.

The Majority text of the Greek manuscripts are reliable and match each other. God preserved his word.

Hello Bob; This in depth studying of Biblical text is challenging. I am studying various aspects of context in this case. I am thinking that there was an event as described in verse four, and it was recorded. Why is it not recorded in earlier texts? Is a good question. Hopefully, the reason(s) are human involvement without satanic influence.
  • Bob Hilt - In Reply on John 5:4 - 4 years ago
Scott do not fall for that older more reliable manuscripts garbage. Who controls the dead sea scrolls? Those who deny Jesus as the Christ which makes them Antichrists. They refuse to allow Christian scholars access to these documents. They tell us what these documents say. Besides the King James in based on the majority texts which has over 5,000 fragments that match each other. these supposedly older texts do not match each other and are missing entire books. I believe the Lord kept his words pure and preserved them.

If you want to believe Antichrists telling us things do not belong in the King James Bible that is up to you. I mean they want us to believe the scriptures were lost until they discovered the dead sea scrolls.

Hello. This verse has been brought to my attention when considering how certain text is to be examined. A type of textual analysis. In John 5 :4 This verse is not included in older, original manuscripts discovered and known as the Dead Sea scrolls. The King James translation was produced many years later, and can be considered an editors note included into the story, and then copied into its place.

I think the above comments are on point. Also, there are 3 things knowing the scriptures do: 1. Edification; 2. Increase in God's knowledge and wisdom; 3. For warfare.

But we must turn to Jesus for salvation. The scriptures instruct us on how to obtain salvation, they tell us the benefits of salvation, they also tell us the consequences of not accepting Jesus as our Saviour, but the written scriptures in and of themselves, cannot give us eternal life. They can only lead us to eternal life.

28-29 Marvel not at this, for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear HIS voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation... notice in these 2 verses JESUS mind is on that day /hour when the POWER OF GOD shall order death to release all in the grave, also notice Revelation 20:11- 15.

God heals us and tells us how to stay healed. He delivers us and tells us what happens if we are against him. It is not good that the soul be without knowledge.

C Lewis - I agree with you we are saved by Grace through faith. James 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that DOETH the will of my Father which is in heaven. ( 2 Timothy 3:16 - All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:) Read ( Matthew 25) its all good not just the verse that makes us feel good.

I ve had it hard but I could of been always resting in Jesus because I believed him but I was ignorant so I fought in the flesh those that came against me in the flesh.
  • Stanjett - In Reply on John 5 - 4 years ago
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Ephesians 2:8 knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified. Galatians 2:16

John 6: 28 - 29 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

Jesus did not ask the crippled man about the pool . He asked him if he would be made whole. He was so self absorbed in his bondage that he could not even answer the question. Would you be made whole ? He never answered it. Maybe he did not want to be made whole . Jesus did not bother to talk to him anymore but decided for him and commanded him to be made whole and carry A heavy bed after 38 year

I am afraid it is you that is mistaken, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are one in the same.
  • Melki - In Reply on John 5 - 4 years ago
Salvation is not just by faith but of works. Which works? The works are keeping the laws of the Most High.

  • Evangelist Andrew Kelly - In Reply on John 5 - 4 years ago
Jesus said it over and over again he was a weakling without the spirit of God his Father in him. How Christans can mess that up and pervert his words is beyond me. When man are blind they are blind to the word. John 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
  • Kathy - In Reply on John 5 - 4 years ago
God is a spirit John 4:24,the spirit of God is inside Jesus, thats why he could not do miracles without God the Father in Him,He is referring thats why he cannot do nothing with the Father.

The godly needs no man's teachings. (4) While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled. And all flesh shall see the salvation of God. And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

The man who buys his own, vain religion with money in order to sell his own, vain religion (to himself) for money is no minister of GOD. (3) Be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation. These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.

GOD does not sell his free gift of salvation. (2) My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD: and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever. And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?

(Doctrine of GOD is given. It can not be sold for money, nor can it be bought.) A Covenant (1) Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation? O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.

This verse has nothing to do with coveting I agree with what you said on coveting though the verse is saying all in the Graves will be raised some to damnation some to life.

John 1:1-5 says that the Word is creator. Verse 14 backs up this Word is the one who came in the flesh to save us. Jesus. So: Definition of a blasphemer: a man who claims to be as God. Jesus as Co-creator and the Word was with God...v1 is the only person that is was flesh that can would be not guilty of claiming to be God: and the Word was God. There is one more definition of a blasphemer.

Chap. 5 is a strain to understand. 1st the invalid at the pool who had been there 38 years. Jesus heals on the Sabbath, a good deed criticized by the Jews. John, a witness to his cousin. And a monolouge in red letters equating himself to the Father. Critisize the Jews, ye Evangeleticles, at your own peril, for your politics have ruined your reputation and Jesus weeps at your Fall intohypocrisy

To understand the scriptures is something all men seek. It has been translated in almost every language. People still don’t believe what it says. If you don’t believe it then leave it alone. If want to believe but can’t understand what you are reading. You need to be like the enunch In acts when Philip asked him did he understand what he was reading. His answer was “How can I except some man guide

chapter 5 is straight to the heart, soul, mind, of the human race; never-the-less the human race have chosen to create and fall deeply in love with all the idols made by the human race (money, houses, clothes, cars, husband, wife, children, music, all ungodly where applicable)... and we kicked the things of GOD to the curve... now it is time to give an account of our personal-actions. WOW,WOW,WOW!
