    Hello again Bobby

    Part 2

Then we go to John 1:14-18 which tells us that the Word (spoken of in verse 1) "became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld

His glory, the glory as the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." (NIV)

This tells me that The Word spoken of in verse 1 is Jesus. This tells me that Jesus existed before He became flesh, being the Word of God and with God and is God.

So here we have the Word becoming a human person but still being God. Whoa!

But it says Jesus was full of grace and truth, so what is said about Him by John is to believed as true.

So now I know why Jesus was unique and singularly special. Well, then I ask, "What did He do to show His deity?

I read the accounts of His life and works in the Gospels and I find that He performed miracles that only God could do.

I find that He had power of demons, which only God can have.

I find that He expanded on the Law in the Sermon on the Mount that only God can legitimately claim to have authority to do.

I find that He was one with the Father and if one has seen Him they have seen the Father, which is a claim to be God.

I find that He was transfigured on the mountain with His disciples present to witness. Only God can have such glory.

I find that He said He had the authority to lay down His own life and to take it back up again. Only God can raise someone from the dead, and He said that He would raise Himself from the dead.

I find that He predicted His death and resurrection ahead of time and it happened just as He said, even being in the grave for three days before rising again.

Then I ask, how do I know He was human as well as divine? Again I go to the Gospel accounts.

He was conceived in the womb of Mary by the Holy Spirit, grew within her and was born as a baby. He had flesh, bones, and blood. He grew and matured, He ate, slept, got tired, was able to be injured, and die. He did all of the things that humans did and had a body made of matter, DNA. -continued

    Good afternoon, Bobby.

You will probably get many responses that vary somewhat. That is o.k. I think there is a link of this site that is How To Become a Christian.

    Part 1

For me, I have often tried to write down what it means to believe in Jesus and found that it has broad and deep meaning.

Foremost, in 1 Corinthians 15:3-8 gives the essence of what the gospel is:

Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and He was buried, and that then He rose again on the third

He was seen by Cephas (Peter), then by the twelve. After that He was seen by over 500 brethren at once...

After that He was seen by James, the by all of the apostles. Then last of all He was seen by me also...

In this passage, we are to believe that Jesus Christ did die for our sins, was buried, and rose again from the dead and was seen

by many eyewitnesses alive after eyewitnesses saw him die and be buried.

To believe this is to accept as fact and wholly true of Jesus Christ.

But then, I ask myself, what is it about Jesus, (besides rising from the dead) that sets Him apart from any other spiritual leader in all of history?

For that, I go to John 1:1-4

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. he was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life and the life was the light of men." (NIV)

This verse tells me that Jesus was the eternal Word who existed with God and was in fact God. He existed before anything was creed with God and He is the Creator of all things. This also tells me that He was both God and with God, telling me that God is a Godhead, consisting of more than one person in one God. (I wish I knew what the Greek words used here for with God and was God so we can distinguish what two persons are being spoken of here in this verse.) But, when it comes to believing in Jesus, it does include this, that He is God. Whoa!

1Sa 31:12 All the valiant men arose, and went all night, and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Bethshan, and came to Jabesh, and burnt them there.

It is not sinful to cremate your body and is the cheapest way of burial as not to burden those left behind. Once we are done with these body's we are done never to return to them; so whatever form you wish to discard your fleshy body has no bearing on your heavenly one. Our flesh ages and gets sick but our spiritual last forever and is perfect, able to run and leap like a deer and last forever.

2Co 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

" Begotten" means to give birth. Jesus is God manifest in the flesh.

    Chris,

    I understand your point. Thanks.
  • Chris - In Reply on John 3 - 1 year ago
Very true GiGi & appreciated. Though I see it as taking the understanding of the "Word of God" to the next level, the tri-aspect of God's Being, i.e. learning more about this Word that was made flesh, as also seen in the Qur'an. If Mohammad (the OP) was moved to enquire further, if indeed his enquiry about the meaning of 'begotten' was leading him to query an 'impossibility' with God, then you & I could be constrained to share more with him. But I can't ascertain how far he wants to enter into this important matter - maybe just simply for the definition of 'begotten'. We shall see.

    Hello Chris,

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.

Here it can be confusing to some, But it is distinguishing the Word as being with God (another person of the Godhead) and also that this Word (another person of the Godhead) was also God.

Jesus holds to His Oneness with God because He came forth out of God, to be a Man. Why? For the sole purpose, as you read in John 3:16,17, that He was 'begotten' so that "the World through Him might be saved". He willingly gave His Life as payment for our sins, so we won't suffer eternal torment in Hell. His Sacrifice pleased His Father & all who place their trust in Jesus alone will be accepted by God, because they have accepted God's offering for their sins. There's no other way to approach Almighty God or to be saved from our sins & eternal punishment - this was the one & only Plan of God - through His 'begotten Son'.

I hope that your question has been answered Mohammad, & more importantly, that your spirit might be alerted to this wonderful Plan of Salvation that God has made & given to us, so that we might be called His children because of Jesus Christ, & one day be with Him for eternity.

Even in the Bible we read the same in Luke 1:34,35: "Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God." Thus the answer is learned: God gave His message through the angel; God's Spirit overshadowed Mary (or, placed within her womb) God's Holy Special Seed which was to be born into humanity; therefore, "He shall be called the Son of God". As al-Qur'an also states, 'this special Birth is humanity's sign & a revelation of God's Mercy to the world.'

You asked, the meaning of 'begotten'. I hope you can now see what it means, by God's Action: it is not a normal human-type birth, but a 'one of its kind, unique birth from God placing His special Seed into the woman. What was this special Seed? The Bible tells us, that God took His Own Word & sent it forth into the world as a human being (you can read about it in John 1:1-14). Even in Surah 3:45: "Remember when the angels proclaimed, 'O Mary! Allah gives you good news of a Word from Him, his name will be the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary; honoured in this world and the hereafter, and he will be one of those nearest to Allah." (This Word from God (kalimat'ullah: God's Word), His Name will be the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary).

Hello Mohammad. Jesus Christ was speaking here when He said in John 3:16: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Also verses 17 & 18 reference the 'Son of God'.

The words 'only begotten' in the original Greek (the language used in writing the New Testament), is: 'monogenes'. It is important to quote the whole phrase ('only begotten') to understand the intent of Jesus' Speech. 'Monogenes' means, 'one and only, or one of its kind', 'unique'. Jesus always said this of Himself, even when the Jewish religious leaders challenged Him. He said, "I and my Father are one. The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God" ( John 10:30,33). The Jews knew what Jesus was saying & they rejected Him because they could only understand His Birth & Presence before them in human terms. For them, as most people, a baby born can only come from human male & female intercourse.

But in God's Terms, He can bring forth whomever & whenever He wishes - He is God. God is not man to engage with a human female, so this 'monogenes' birth must be different, special. Even al-Qur'an states, when the angel approached Maryam with the message of a 'pure son', she became confused how this could possibly happen: "She wondered, 'how can I have a son when no man has ever touched me, nor am I unchaste'? He (the angel) replied, "So will it be! Your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me. And so will We make him a sign for humanity and a mercy from Us.' It is a matter already decreed." (Surah 19:20,21).

    Hi Richard.

Thanks for posting, you make some good points, but in reading your post you seem to be stating that Paul is preaching a different gospel than Jesus. Please correct me if I am interpreting your post wrong.

I believe it is very important that we understand that Paul and Jesus preached the same Gospel. This is: The Gospel of the Kingdom.

The gospel of the kingdom is the "Good News" that can be embraced by anyone who surrenders their life to Christ and begins to follow Jesus in their daily life.

Jesus talks about the Gospel of the Kingdom throughout his ministry.

    Mark 1:15

"And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel."

Paul also taught the Gospel of the Kingdom.

    Acts 20:25

"And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more."

It is the "same gospel" yesterday, today, and tomorrow - forever!

    God Bless.

Begotten just mean bring about or give rise to, no if you mean the "only begotten" that means single of it's kind, or only member of a kin or kind. The tern is used to describe the relation of kids to their parents.

Ex. If you have natural born kids they would be your begotten kids vs adoption because you brought them about,

Ex 2 is that of Issac was the one begotten son of Abraham even though he had other natural son, Ismael and others but Issac was the only begotten is that God's covenant, was established only through Isaac, Abraham's only son by God's promise, as well as the only son of Sarah. So he was the only member of that kind.

If u want to know about how Jesus is the only begotten son I'm happy to tell u

Saul's original name had been changed to paul . jesus christ chose paul to be our apostle for the church age. to to the jews and gentiles of whomever. jesus christ gave the apostle paul a revelation being the gospel of salvation that god will use ( 1 corinthians 15:1-4 ) to judge the church comprised of jews or gentiles or whoever who believes the cospel of salvation ( 1corinthians15:1-4 ) you must believe in your heart that jesus died for your sins by shedding his blood on the cross of calvary, was buried, and rose again on the third day according to the scripyure to be saved and have everlasting life. jesus christ manifested in the flesh ( 1 tim 3:16) loved you enough to die in your place for your sins. jesus christ had already died shedding his blood for our sins whereas the gospel for salvation john preached to the jews 2000 years ago ( john 3:16) preaching that god gave his son that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. what should they believe when john preached to the jews of israel john 3:16 ? ought they believe that christ was given to them that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. this is correct because jesus christ had not been crucified, but the church of the church age will be judged by the gospel of salvation ( 1 cor. 15:1-4) revealed to paul from a revelation from jesus christ for their salvation having everlasting life, whether you be a jew or a gentile. remember god will do the judging, otherwise if you do not trust in the shed blood of jesus christ on the cross of calvary then pay the penalty yourslf and burn in the lake of fire in torment for eternally! that will be your price you will have to pay for not trusting and believing your substitute jesus christ dying, shedding his blood on the cross of calvary .

john 3:16 was preached to the jews of israel. thid is correct because john was preaching to the jews of isreal 2000 years ago and jesus christ had not been crucified yet. these jews at that time demanded signs and wonders. that was the purpose john the baptist said what he preached in john 3:16. he was directing those jews to jesus 2000 years ago to believe and have faith in jesus to have salvation. At that time jesus christ had not died shedding his blood on the cross of calvary for man's sins. just like jesus chose John to be the apostle to teach and preach to the jews of that time 2000 years ago, jesus chose paul whose name was changed to paul to be our apostle of today to teach and preach to jews and gentiles, and the church and whosoever 1 corinthians 15: 1-4 (jessus christ had then died on the cross shedding his blood on the cross of calvary for the remissions of sin. yoy must trust jesus christ as your savior today by faith in shed blood. Jesus Christ manifested in the flesh (1 ti9m 3:16 loved you enough to die in your place for your sins.

Mary is not to be worshipped, why are you virgil on a KJV website that promotes a protest against the catholic cult and NOT for it. roman catholicism and any other forms of catholicism that worships mary, angels, the apostles of Christ is completely demonic and is 100 percent idolatry! mary in the Greek means "rebellion." Look her name up in a Bible Concordance. Jesus never commanded His disciples to pray to mary. Jesus instead commanded His disciples to pray to His Father. No idolater will inherit the Kingdom of God, do not let yourself virgil be deceived. God loves you very much, and He desires for you not to be lead astray by man made traditions and doctrines of man. Read 1 Corinthians 6:9-10.

As a true believer, I think you need to keep eyes of faith upon Jesus. What He says in the Bible.

This is what the Holy Spirit has been ministering to me: Don't Look Backwards Like Lot's Wife.

Put your precious Faith in what Jesus said about the end times. Rituals will not save us. Faith in what Jesus says, in the Bible (New Testament), will save us.

Jesus did not walk around in golden robes and a big hat. The Son of God had no place to rest his head. He slept on the ground, like all of his disciples. He bathed in the rivers and the Sea of Galilee. He walked everywhere. He was crucified between two thieves.

Before He went to the cross, he said: FOLLOW ME.

There is no other way to get to heaven. Rituals are not the way. There are churches near you. Google their Faith Statement online. Be a part of the fellowship. Ask God to speak to you through the Pastors messages. Meet the other people. Don't rush out the door too fast. Sometimes a lot of cars around the church, means the anointing of the Lord is there. Compare all the sermons with your Bible.

I hope this helps. Follow Jesus, beloved brother.

    Hello Virgil,

I was born into a religious family, and went to a religious school, both of which taught me heretical doctrine, including worshiping and praying to Mary, to other dead people (which the Bible calls necromancy, and is an occult practice), and many other such superstitions.

We are not to worship Mary; indeed, she was blessed among women for being the mother of Messiah, but in his earthly ministry, if you read carefully through the gospels, you will NEVER see Jesus elevating Mary the way that she is in certain world, man-made religions.

We come to the Father through Jesus Christ alone. The Bible is clear. Jesus Christ is the sole Sacrifice, the sole Lamb of God, the ONE Mediator between God and man.

There is only ONE name given among men whereby we must be saved, and that name is JESUS! HALLELUJAH!

    Grace to you, Virgil.
