John 3:16 "For God so loved (LOVED PAST TENSE) the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

1 John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

The Lord LOVED his original sin free creation, He tells us not to love this wicked world. there is a difference.

and no the Lord does not love everyone per the Bible

Malachi Chapter 1:1 The burden of the word of the LORD to Israel by Malachi.

2 I have loved you, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us? Was not Esau Jacob's brother? saith the LORD: yet I loved Jacob,

3 And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.

And I hated Esau what is his heritage?

Psalms 127:3 Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

When you know the sin of Esau this makes sense and no it was not just selling the birthright for a bowl of beans.

John 3.16 states that God loves all and provision has been made for all , what is scary is people do not believe this .

John 17, I believe, is Jesus Christ's prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane. This chapter shows His intent for coming in the flesh, that He came with a mission to teach us and to take those who God gave Him. There are two things in this chapter that really stand out to me,

    1. He gives his the gift of eternal life. WHAT A GIFT! We aren't talking a new car, or house, or anything you can get on this earth... we are talking ETERNAL LIFE! Can you even imagine what that will be like! WOW

    2. He doesn't pray for those who are not His. This should be very scary for those who don't know Him. Very Scary.

Jesus die for our sins,so that we might have a chance at the tree of life. Jesus knew all of what was expected of him; that's why God sent his only begotten son to do what the first Adam couldn't do. Jesus couldn't lie, that why no guile was found in his mouth. Jesus is the truth then and forever. We murdered him because of the truth. And we still don't want to be told the truth, because we have itchy ears. How is it that we accept lies why do hurt us and not the truth?

John of the ghetto I would tend to disagree with your statement of JESUS'S not returning to earth Zechariah Ch 14 V 4 clearly states HIS feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of olives in regards to the day of the LORD. Also JESUS spoke clearly of HIS return and to watch for it. Respectivley in JESUS name and Love.

I am blessed to know that God's word says: And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. 4I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. 5And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.

Christ was NEVER a sinner. He took on all our sins and gave us salvation from the cross. we will all die in the flesh, but the second death is the death of the soul. Those that don't look for Him may be judged to the lake of fire. Christ will take all souls to paradise to await the Great White Throne judgement. Those who believe will go into Eternity--others will be given God's judgement.

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgement: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

Behold, he cometh with clouds and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

What does separate us from God ,but our unbelief! Your person, who you are, this love, God wants us to acknowledge in Him. What separates us from that knowledge is any word not His.Let none deceive you through vain philosophy. Christ , our redeemer was with His father before creation, with the sole intent to do his fathers will. No ordinary man could do what he has done! Grow ,read his word !

1-26 disregarding the moment or hour quickly approaching Jesus notice how Jesus is very focused on eternity with the FATHER for those of us who will enter in the Kingdom of GOD, thereby we shall be at the The Marriage Supper Of the LAMB , Rev 19:7,8,9.

979 Instances The Holy Spirit is in the bible also. The Holy Ghost and the Holy Spirit is the same thing. Some of the bible writers used one and others used the other.
  • David on John 17 - 4 years ago
There are 93 verses that speak of the HOLY GHOST in he New Testament. Those who change the word GHOST to spirit will fail to understand the work of the SON of GOD after HIS crucifixion.
  • John of the Ghetto on John 17 - 4 years ago
The prayer of Jesus, deeply felt love, lost in love, fearless. Jesus ain't coming back to earth, and why would he? There is no real fairh here, only deception, cruelty, fake faith. But God, the Father, Jesus' Father doesn't change, doesn't age toward death! He has no beginning, nor ending. He desires true words of devotion, faith and TRUTH! What is Truth? Oh ruler of Jerusalem, wash clean!!!!

This is my favorite chapter of the bible! I love how we can see the close relationship Jesus had with his Father and how much they loved each other. And to think that they want to share that love with us!
  • M Kamal A Rahman on John 17 - 5 years ago
The is only one God worthy worship, and Jesus is only the messenger of God.
  • Maria Pelaez on John 17 - 5 years ago
Once we accept and love our Lord we are being transformed into his likeness, we should walk as he walked, speak and think as he did. This is a true child of God. We are the light as he was the light, yet many did not accepted him. Hence, we must abide in him so that we remain as the light given to us in spirit since the beginning of the world. Verse 21, 22, is a witness of this sanctification
  • Vanessa on John 17 - 5 years ago
Jesus was preparing to go home, and he was praying for his disciples that walked and he taught the word of God to keep them from the evil. So they would not conform to the way the way of the world and except all sin as we do today, they led the way for the church, and spoke the warnings but we dont want to know these words, they dont even want to teach these today, many will knock few will enter

  • Kathy on John 17 - 5 years ago
That God, Jesus the Holy Spirit are resting places for us eternally. God sent his only begotten Son and it is only because of the sacrifices of a Loving God that we enjoy Eternal Life.

BSP: Question for BSP - Where in this chapter does it say Christ only prayed for his disciples(12)? If you are saying that Christ only prayed for those he preached too -(southern kingdom Israelite's primarily ( John 18:20), to include the 12 disciples, then I agree, otherwise is not in scripture.
  • BSP on John 17 - 5 years ago
Verse 15~Jesus prayed for his disciples who had to live in a wicked world that they would not become like the world in any aspect.

  • BSP on John 17 - 6 years ago
Verse 14~Jesus was no part of the world and as Christians we should imitate him in not being part of this world that is lying in the power of Satan.
