I am not ashamed of the Gospel. Psalms 119:129"Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way." Psalms 119:104 also. 1Corinthians 6:12"All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient:all things are lawful for me but I will not be put under the power of any." A false way is against the Lord. False doctrine is against the Lord.

We shouldn't, as Christians, be on here to vilify anyone or their belief. There used to be an anachronism - WWJD? You saw it in lanyards, t-shirts, purses, everywhere. It seems we have rather forgotten about it. But it something we need to - remember. Jesus said, Be ye followers of me. He spoke to the Pharisees to 'try' to reach them - and He did reach a few of them, Acts 15:5.

Some important things to know about WHY we are still here, and that we should not be scandalized because of the Lord's purpose in leaving us here. Comforter, or Paraclete, means the Source and Presence of [our] Calling. It is Profitable FOR US that the Spirit come to us, TO CONVICT THE WORLD OF SIN, OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, AND OF JUDGMENT. For this they will Work Against Us from out of the Synagogues.
  • Mark Petersen on John 16 - 7 years ago
These verses from John 16 are an encouragement to true followers of Jesus Christ. "In the world, ye shall have tribulation." A person who loves Christ WILL suffer persefution because of Him. When we walk in truth and obedience to God and the scripture we have this proof of rejection that shows we have eternal life. Praise God for not leaving us alone, but giving us His Spirit to help us abide!!

32 Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. WOW! we are not alone... plus we have peace in Him WOW!

    V. 20 - ye shall be sorrowful, but the world shall rejoice (crucifixion); your sorrow shall be turned into joy (Day of Pentecost when Holy Ghost was poured out - Acts 2:38).

  • SFC Richardson on John 16 - 7 years ago
The world tells us that if we hear voices, then we are insane, yet Yeshua tells us we should expect to hear His Voice. In order to hear His Voice, we need to Know His Word intimately. We do not want to hear: "Depart from me, ye wicked, I never Knew you!"
  • Irene123 on John 16 - 7 years ago
To Bill on John ch. 16 - there's no Jesus admonition in Matt to be born of the water and the spirit or Matt. 28:19 and Acts 2:38? These are in GOD'S Word too.
  • Lenora on John 16 - 7 years ago
I read this as a message of hope given to us by our Lord Jesus Christ. Even though we may suffer in this life, our Lord has conquered this and offers us the comfort of hope in him. Our only peace is in our Lord Jesus the Christ, a free gift from God our Father.

  • Steve Bartlett on John 16 - 8 years ago
In this, my favorite verse of the Bible, Christ promises us that we will experience ("ye shall have"), hardship in this life, but He also assures us that we are not to be downhearted about this ("but be of good cheer"), because He has already destroyed ("I have overcome") all hardship ("the world" - i.e. the home of tribulation). What greater assurance can there be in this life, than this?

  • Patricia c on John 16 - 8 years ago
Jesus is telling His disciples that in a little while He must leave and go home to the Father,God. And that He shall return soon within each of them personally as a Spirit, the Holy Ghost, to lead and guide with the word from God as.He once did as.Jesus Christ. This time they trusted and believed Him.

John 16:33 Jesus said that He has overcome the world. that is an insurance for all Christians. so we all will overcome the world also.
  • Eric Nava on John 16 - 8 years ago
Jesus at this time was aware of his fate ,the thing he would have to go through, yet he also knew truth and he comforted his disciples and today he comforted us, John 16:33, Glory to God in the Highest; we will overcome in him who has already won the victory for us.
  • Shasta Elliott on John 16 - 8 years ago
Jesus is saying to ask God for anything in the name of Jesus and he will give it to you.
  • Shasta Elliott on John 16 - 8 years ago
I believe that this chapter is mainly about God will bring you peace no matter what you've done. Just repent you know Jesus is alive and in the hearts of people all across the world.
  • Bonsile Mnisi on John 16 - 8 years ago
was so confusing and difficult for disciples, but they would start living in faith whilst they knew the real Man, adjusting was not easy, unlike us we only believe and have certainity for something we have not seen,
  • SON of God. on John 16:24 - 8 years ago
I think someone missed the verse before? Jesus is not His Father!! You ask FATHER in Jesus name. You are not asking Jesus when asking His Father as the opener clearly shows. 23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
  • Benson Lang'at on John 16 - 8 years ago
Comment* Christ in a beautiful way prepares the disciples to be accustomed to His absence from them. He is also preparing them for what will beset them when He has left.
