Most Walmart's have KJV Bibles back in the book section. They have New KJV too.

Compare John chapter 3 to see which one you like best. Hard bound Bibles don't lay flat; so see how that works for you.

I like publisher Thomas Nelson the most.

    Priced very reasonable.

Is the King James Bible only about the New Testament ? I know how silly that must sound .

Helen, if you look at that encounter that Jesus had with Nicodemus, Nicodemus had just asked Jesus how someone could be physically born again a second time. He asked this because the spiritual truth that Jesus told him in v 3, that a man cannot see the Kingdom of God unless he is born again, was confusing to him. So Jesus explained this to him in verse 5: "unless a man be born of water (referring to that physical birth that Nicodemus was thinking of) & of the Spirit (referring to that spiritual birth that Jesus was speaking about), that man cannot enter God's Kingdom. In other words, it's my sense that if Nicodemus hadn't brought up the question of the impossibility of a person to be physically born twice into the world, then Jesus probably would not have referred to the necessity of a person being born physically (of water). The "water" we understand can refer also to the amniotic fluid being released in 'physical' birth.

So, you & I need not fear about the words in verse 5 - they were only for Nicodemus (& any of us now) who might think that to be "born of water" meant something else or an added requirement to spiritual birth. No - spiritual birth is only by faith in Christ's work at the Cross & nothing else. If there was something else required, then salvation does not come by faith, and that's not the Gospel message.

RE: John 3 verses 3 and 5. I am confused. Verse 3 you must be born again to enter the kingdom of God.

Verse 5 you must be born of water AND of the spirit.

3: Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

5: Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

QUESTION: If a person is born again of the spirit ONLY and not of water he/she CANNOT enter the kingdom of God?

Limitations of the flesh overshadow humanity and the devil has made it look like it is difficult to obey. Without the presence or the indwelling of the holy spirit the flesh will take over and cost human delay in fulfillment of their destinies. Our Master Jesus is continuously in the prayer alter making intersessions for the saints for their perfection of every imperfections in their lives. Disobedience is too costly. Who can bear the cost? Only the accuser of our brethren. Jesus is LORD

Thank you Jesus for your mercy and thank you for redeeming me for Now I can say, with absolute certainty that you are the Lord, my god Jesus. Amen.

I have heard pre tribulation, mid tribulation, and post tribulation thoughts on the the matter. That is one hill I will not die on. I do not care one way or the other about when the Lord is coming. That is His decision. I am ready to go at any given time as all Christians should be. It is an interesting topic, but we are told that the Lord would come like a thief in the night. So be ready to go in a split second. We will be going HOME!

Bob, I have one more question for you. Is your faith "lukewarm?"
  • Jesse - In Reply on John 14 - 3 years ago
    Bob,

Please do not twist my words to make it look like I believe the Lord is a polygamist. Have I ever heard of the bride of Christ? Of course I have. And I never said there is no mention of the church after Revelation Chapter 3. Please read my post carefully before twisting my words. The church is mentioned in Chapter 19. We are the ones who will be clothed in white garments, the garments of a bride. I find the 7 steps of a Jewish wedding quite fascinating with how it parallels Christ coming for His bride. You may not find it fascinating as you seem to be completely against all things Jewish. Can you show me where in Chapters 3 through 18 the church or the phrase "bride of Christ" is mentioned? If you can show me that, perhaps I might be persuaded to at least rethink my position. Also, since you believe the church has to go through the tribulation, what will the role of the church be during this time?

You say believing Christians are called saints at times? I'm not sure what you are getting at. I know every born again believer is a saint. I became a saint the moment I received Christ. I am a saint by calling. Christ called me and I responded to the call and I received Christ. So I am a saint. It has nothing to do with my human performance. I am a saint because God has set me apart for His purpose. That's what a saint is. The words holy, saint, set apart, sanctified, and sanctification all come from the same word, Hagios.

The church will not be overcome by the Antichrist because the church will not be here. There will be people getting saved during the tribulation and they will be put to death for it. I guess you can say they will be overcome because being beheaded sounds like being overcome to me. They were not part of the church at the start of the tribulation, and the church does not enter into the tribulation. They went into the tribulation as non-believers and refused the mark and received Christ after being warned by guess who? Jews, 144,000 of them!
  • Bob Hilt - In Reply on John 14 - 3 years ago
Jessie there is not mention of the church after revelation 3? Have you not heard of the bride of Christ?

There is no separate Jewish bride and a different Christian bride. There is only one bride and the Lord is not a polygamist with multiple brides. Believing Christians are called saints at times. If you do not see the church it is because you are not looking for her. The Church is going to be overcome in the flesh by the antichrist and be purified of her lukewarm faith.
  • Jesse - In Reply on John 14 - 3 years ago
    Bendito Palavra, Amen!

There is no mention of the church during the tribulation time frame from Revelation Chapter 3 through Chapter 19. I see no mention of the church until I get to Chapter 19 of Revelation. The church will be in heaven while chaos is happening here on the earth. We are the ones in Chapter 19 who will be clothed in white garments at this wedding that is taking place prior to Christ's second coming. Chapter 19 also tells us that at Christ's second coming, we (the church) come with Him.

Noah and his family entered into an ark of safety prepared for them before the flood, effectively removed from the then world's destruction. Later, they were restored to a new beginning. Jesus has gone to prepare a place for his people.

Lot and his daughters were removed to safety from Sodom before the LORD rained brimstone and fire on the cities. Sadly his wife looked back.

Our word "rapture" is derived from the Latin "rapiemur", used in the Vulgate translation of 1 Thessalonians 4:17 for "caught up" or "snatched away".

Enoch is our prototype for rapture in Genesis 5:24 and Hebrews 11:5 (translated that he should not see death...).

Another precedent: 2 Kings Chapter 2 tells us of Elijah being taken to heaven by a whirlwind in a chariot of fire.

Song of Solomon Chapter 2 relates a king calling his bride to come away with him from her hidden place, much as we can imagine Christ calling his Church out of this world.

!st Corinthians 15:51-52 declares the mystery that some will not sleep (bodily death), then promises all of us will be changed into the incorruptible and immortal.

Truly no man knows the day or hour, but the book of Revelation does not mention the Church on earth beyond the third chapter. In Revelation 7:9 an innumerable multitude of the saved out of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues stand before the throne praising God. After this the wrath of God falls upon the inhabitants of the earth, which wrath the Church is not appointed to (1-Thessalonians 5:9).

I so appreciate your list of hymns!

I have chill bumps. The Holy Spirit lifted my soul. I know every song on your list. It is the hymns we sang in our youth, hidden in our hearts. Sing each often. God Be With Us, Always.

Terri, so, so True. How a Church Service is enriched in unanimous voice & praise when suddenly an old hymn has been dug out & brought into the light of glorious worship of our God. Sadly, most of these hymns are kept hidden away so as to cater for other people's preferences.

Some of the hymns that are particularly meaningful to me: Holy, Holy Holy; Be Thou my vision; Rock of Ages; It is well with my soul; Blessed Assurance; The old Rugged Cross; To God be the Glory; What a Friend we have in Jesus; I come to the Garden alone; At the Cross; Jesus paid it all; Crown Him with many Crowns; The Battle Hymn of the Republic; I love to tell the Story; Standing on the Promises; I am Thine O Lord; Great is Thy Faithfulness; When I survey the Wondrous Cross; Sweet hour of Prayer; When we all get to Heaven; I will sing the wondrous Story; Living He loved me (with old tune); are just a few. Even when I think of just one stanza of these hymns, a tear comes to my eye because of its richness & some written from deep personal experiences. And this is the more special to me as I recall, when on the mission field & had no one with me or a Fellowship to attend, my prayer time was made even more special when singing these hymns, albeit with a less than satisfactory voice & no musical accompaniment. How blessed we are to have these hymns that helps keep our focus directly upon the Lord.

AMEN!! Traditional Hymns are so uplifting and can grip your very soul with comfort, adoration and love for our King of Kings! "Power in the Blood" in another favorite Hymn; "There is power, power, wonder working power in the precious blood of the Lamb".
  • CAUGHT UP IN THE CLOUDS - In Reply on John 14 - 3 years ago
    1 Thessalonians 4:17

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them (the dead in Christ) IN THE CLOUDS, to meet the Lord IN THE AIR: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

    Revelation 12:5

And she brought forth a man child (JESUS), who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child (The Son of Man) was caught up unto God, and to his throne.

(Sitting at the right hand of God; where he ever lives to make intercession for the saints) Our Advocate with the Father.

Awaiting the signal that the Church AGE is concluded.

    Comment:

Jesus is not going to set foot on the earth during the Caught Up. We meet Him in the clouds. In the blink of an eye: that's fast!

Only the Father knows how much longer we have to survive what's happening on earth.

Matthew 24:37 - But as the days of Noe (Noah) were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Mat 24:38 - For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

Mat 24:39 - And knew not until the flood came, and took (WHO?) them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Mat 24:40 - Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

Mat 24:41 - Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

Mat 24:42 - Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

The WICKED were TAKEN and Noah was LEFT BEHIND at the end of the flood.

Luke 17:26 - And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.

The WICKED were TAKEN and Noah was LEFT BEHIND

1 Peter 3:20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

The WICKED were TAKEN FIRST and Noah was LEFT BEHIND

Luke 17:27 - They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.

    Luke 17:28 - Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;

Lot was left behind - the wicked were taken

Luke 17:29 - But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.

Luke 17:30 - Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

    2 Peter 2:12 - But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;

So do pre trib preachers lie and make the Bible say the opposite of the Bible teaches?

  • Mishael on Divers - In Reply on John 14 - 3 years ago
I'm doing further study on the word divers; which means, diversities. In the Bible as divers diseases or divers places.

Further explanation defines that God hates mixtures; several examples of that.

We all need to hear this; especially now.

I have watched a worldwide earthquake map for years. Today, Mexico south of Acapulco had over 7 on the scale. We can google the news later

For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences (like Co-vid) and earthquakes, in divers (sinful) places. I agree with your first statement about Covid. but not about your second insert (sinful). Divers places means different places, not sinful places.

    Matthew chapter 24, verses 3-8

And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the SIGN of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

And ye shall hear of WARS and rumors of WARS: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences (like Co-vid) and earthquakes, in divers (sinful) places.

All these are the beginning of sorrows.

If your Bible has center columns on each page: you see little alphabet letter or numbers. Those refer you to other books or old prophesies). This way you will know what's coming our way. Knowledge is good.

You'll need a good newspaper or be Google friendly. YouTube has news too.

    To All Christian's!

When feeling down, depressed, no where to go. . . Start singing the Hymn- What can wash my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. What can make me whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. Oh precious, is the flow, that makes me white was snow! No other "way" I know. Nothing but the Blood of Jesus." Repeat, until the love of Jesus flows through you. It's the Blood of Jesus that takes away out pain, doubt, etc. Sing Christian's! Sing!
