  • John on John 14:12 - 10 years ago
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

I think Jesus meant everything he did. Not just what he preached. Because he said greater works that he did (not say). The works of Jesus isn't just his messages but includes everything he did on earth (his messages, his lifestyle, his signs and wonders, his miracles, etc)

I stand to be corrected. Thanks.

Jn 14:23 Begins by being informative and concludes by revealing Gods perculiar v.i.p promise for the individual that would attain Gods approved standard of righteousness and holiness in Christ It truly takes Gods grace and revelation for an individual to attain such a level under the sun.

@Akanimoh Well by that logic your'e also implying that the holy spirit is a male. I mean God has angels, that he uses but why is this holy spirit any different from angels? The holy spirit it God's active force.
  • Samuel on John 14 - 10 years ago
Its plain and simple, loving jesus is keeping his commands. You have to believe in him coz hes the light, the way and the only way to salvation. Keep his commands and he will send you a helper the holy spirit.

John Chapter 14 verses 2,3 and 18 I find Jesus here in these verses promises us, all the believers and the non believers alike should expect if we do the works what Jesus is guiding us to do. In verse 6 he is also telling us nobody will go to the father but by through him. So the teaching here and the way it should be understood is CARRY YOUR OWN CROSS.

In my humble opinion the greater works "we" will do that Yeshua is talking about is when "we" the true house of Israel reunite as one. Since Yeshua walked this earth Christian have forgot the 7 feasts to the Lord and the 7th day Sabbath while the Jews have denied the Yeshua/Jesus the Messiah. There will come a day when these 2 house's reunite. When Christian will observe the feast and the Jews will accept Jesus. This is the story of the prodigal son. These are the greater works we will do. This is the next and last reformation before His return and it is happening now. Come be part of it in Yeshua's name I pray.

To Dianes comment on verse 14,Jehovah a latin was translated 1100-1200 CE from YHWH the unspoken name of God in old testament times.Durring the 3rd century BCE it was replaced with Adonai meaning my Lord.So it wasn't King James but the ancient Hebrew scribes.
  • Diane on John 14:28 - 10 years ago
John 1: 18 says" No man has seen God at any time".Many people saw Jesus. John 20:31 says "These have been written down that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ the Son of God". Jesus was created directly by God having quality similar to those of his father. Psalms 83:18 says Jehovah is the most high. found in KJV New World Translation. Many other translations of the Bible have taken Jehovah out and replaced it with LORD.

HE says it in plain text for US to see .. I will NOT leave you comfortless, I will come unto you .. the Comforter/HOLY GHOST/Spirit of GOD that will bring back all things that you already KNEW as WE are PRE-destined beings, BUT are give an opportunity to make our own choice to accept or reject the Gospel of Jesus Christ and this is known: Free-Agency.
  • DENTON on John 14 - 10 years ago
I KNOW ..JESUS was trying to reveal through PARABLES unto them that HE is the LIVING GOD ..and that HE has come in the FATHER'S NAME: JESUS ..Son of GOD: JESUS .. and the Comforter or HOLY GHOST that the FATHER shall send in my name: JESUS .. and this is the reason for ACTS 4:12 being in EVERY single Denominational Bible Version

    Heaven & Hell do exist.

You wont believe it now but you will see it when you die.

Talk about hell- think about the worst, terrible, threatening experiences youve come across in life, and i mean the very worst of the worst, well hell will give you much worse experience than ever, and it will be going on for ever.

Then talk about heaven - think about the best of the best experience youve ever come across in life.
Bible said that the life out there has no comparison here on earth. You think about wealth, its there, you think about joy,its there for ever. But if you want to go there, there is no other way, but thru JESUS CHRIST alone.

He will be king in that New City, So therefore as a king of any country, he's got the authority of whom to be citizen and whom are not to be.
You wont do your search in the next life but now. As long as you have the breath on your nose, do it.
the best thing to know is that he is right there with you and he is just waiting for you to ask him.
All you got to do is pray. Dont go to a priest first coz he jst a man, or to the bible first coz he already said that the bible tells him, but to him fisrt. He is right with you. God bless you.

For me the personal assurance spoken of by Jesus Himself in John 14 is the essence of the new life promise to all who believe in him and obey. May His mercy and grace abide with us always.

Vicky's John Chapter 14 comment about verse 2 on 10/13/2013, 8:35am...WHAT AM I MISSING? I have always believed this was talking to us as believers giving us comfort and assurance that He is preparing a place for us in His heavenly realm. From where do you get this interpretation, or idea that this is NOT the Church to whom He speaks? Clarify my confusion.
  • Elwood Dennis on John 14:20 - 10 years ago
We are the temple of the living GOD. Jesus Christ is the head of the Church and we are the body. The Head and the body are one; therefore we are in CHRIST and CHRIST is in us.
  • Kigundu edgar on John 14:11 - 10 years ago
i believe that jesus was clarifying a point that his role was to speak while the father in him carried out the works.for of himself he could do nothing

Jesus said, ''He's the way'' which say Jesus Christ is the only available means made by God by which one could see Him. BY ACCEPTHNG JESUS AS YOUR LORD AND PERSONAL SAVIOUR, AND HIS RULES.

I am thankful to have a Pastor who has devoted the last 40 years of his life in studying and rightly dividing the word of God. In John14:2 it is important to rightly divide the word. Jesus is talking to his disciples here. There are no Christians here. He is talking about the kingdom of Heaven which is a literal visible place. God is telling the nation of Israel no matter what their going through He is preparing a place for them. It is important to understand who is being addressed in a passage and here the church is not being addressed. Hebrews11:16 also tells us he is preparing the city for Israel. This is not mansions for us, the church, to live in.

  • Rev. Autrey on John 14 - 10 years ago
(Verse 15) "If you love me, obey my commandments." Since Jesus said "If you love me," this means that Jesus is the personality through whom God speaks to us. The Father and the Holy Spirit are God's two other personalities.

Your personality does not take up any material space apart from who you are. In other words your personality is you. This is how Jesus is God. What I am saying is, our relationship with God is based on his love for us, and our love for him. So if we love him, we will be careful to obey what he tells us.

Love is not law based. That is, if you only obey someone because the law forces you to, you cannot say that you are doing it out of love. What I am saying is, God wants us to love him with all our heart and soul.

Its absolute assurance, that we are in safe guidance and protection.
  • Akanimoh on John 14:26 - 10 years ago
Now i am convince the Holy spirit is not an active force as taught by JEHOVAH WITNESSES but a person since such words as whom and he are used for the Holy spirit and in 1john 4:4, there, *he* is also used when refering to the holy spirit living in us. Thanks. Akanimoh-Nigeria.
