"I am the Good Shepherd: the Good Shepherd gives His life for the sheep." John 10:11 The entire purpose and duty of the Shepherd is to care for the sheep. In whatever things we need whether for food and clothing and shelter, or protection from predators Jesus cares for us continually, and puts Himself between us and every danger or threat. If He leads us up into rocky and sparse places He is still our Good Shepherd. If we need washing and grooming, He does so with love and skill and the right firmness and gentleness. If we are hurt or injured or sick, He cares for us to make us strong and healthy again. If one wanders away because we are stupid and simple, and need to be watched! then He knows where to search and find us, and how to bring us back to safety. The Good Shepherd puts our needs first, and knows well how to maintain us. If we want to help Him be a Good Shepherd for others, then we need to learn from Him everything there is to know about the business of being a shepherd.

Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him and with his stripes we are healed. AMEN

John 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: Jesus said to the Disciples follow me. Matthew 4:19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. Now Apostle Paul said follow me . 1 Corinthians 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. Now Jesus is using Paul for us Gentiles to follow him. I follow Paul thru Jesus Christ our Lord

In Jesus Christ, I greet you! I'm wondering if verse 12 concerning "the wolf" refers to the contemporary charlatans that preach for gain and lust? It would seem to me that those that gather around them, most likely aren't The Lord's sheep.
  • Peter A. Okebukola on John 10 - 6 years ago
Jesus shared a number of eternal truths in the chapter. These include 27: My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. We are safe in His Hands in this world and in His Kingdom. To be safe and enjoy this privilege, we must continue to stay at the centre of His Will.

V34, Genesis 3:5 "For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil." The Jews were acting like they know good from evil but truth is not in them. Jesus said he is the Son of God and that is truth they deny. The actions of Jesus are righteous and can not be proven otherwise. The Jews were evil rejecting what is good.

    Amen.

    V. 33 - " ... thou being a man ... "; my question is - they saw His works, they heard Him quote from ALL the Law and Prophets, and they agreed He was unlearned. So, who or 'what' were they looking for to be the Messiah? They also said - never man spake like this man. The reason they didn't believe is because they th'ot a NOW deliverer would come to exit the Romans.
  • Irene123 on John 10 - 6 years ago
    V. 21 - A lot of people believe Jesus healed then and He heals today, but that does not mean they 'follow' Him. To follow Jesus you follow Acts 2:38, " ... seek ye first ... ", Matt. 6:33. The Kingdom of Heaven is found in Acts 2:38. That's where a Christian life begins.

"There is joy in the presence of the angels over one sinner that repents, more than over an hundred which need no repentance." An honest look back on my own way before I was truly converted and saved; I have to say that God protected and guided me countless times, despite myself. The danger and trouble and punishments I incurred was my own doings; but it was God who made me thus, to rebuke my sin!
  • Ronald Coe on John 10 - 6 years ago
I think of John 10:10 as a reminder of not to fall for Satan's tricks, he has stolen me more than one time, but God spoke to me and I've been reading the word of God ever since and I have found Jesus to have lead me through struggles to find Him again. There's one thing we learn from this and that is God will make you go through struggles in your life just to be lead to Him. God bless you through Jesus Christ our Lord.

---We are sanctified through the offering of The Body of Jesus Christ once for all.--- After He Offered One Sacrifice for Sins forever, sat down on The Right Hand of God: Hebrews 10:10-12 / Neither is there Salvation in any there:for there is none other Name under Heaven given among men whereby We must be Saved. Acts 4:12 / Only by His Blood We are Saved. He is The only Door. / John 6:44

    V. 9 - " ..... by me if any man enter in ..... "; by ME - Jesus; another prophesy of Acts 2:38.

We ,I have a enemy : It is the devil ! Since I came to Jesus as Lord of my life , I acquired a enemy which was not my enemy before I came to Jesus Christ : Jesus came to give me life and that more abundantly : the devil comes as a thief , a killer ,and a destroyer of all that God has given me and what I have acquired through out the years !! To keep what God has given me , I need a prayer life and a closeness with my Lord God each and every day , To be in His word daily , daily prayer and alway looking to Him . Talking and depending on Him for every detail of my life !!
  • Diane on John 10 - 6 years ago
John 10:10 describes to us that the thief Satan, Devil comes to steal from us, kill us, and destroy us everyday. Satan wants all the power and glory. He wants what God has, and will not stop to try and get Gods power. God is our creator! God is our Father in Heaven. God gave us Jesus Christ. His only Son. As long as we remain in God's hands, damage done from the theif can never last for long. As long as we walk with our Father, fighting the thief will become easier, and certain. Our lives will be full of joy, love, peace, and happiness....
  • Jay on John 10 - 6 years ago
Jesus used the word gods, note the small g in god. It means that we have the intelligence, ability, power to reason and solve problems, but we don't know all, can't see our future. We are limited in this body but God, who knows all, sees all....is not limited in his power. He can do anything without failure.
  • Elizabeth Ryder on John 10 - 7 years ago
vs 34-35, ye are gods? ( Psalm 82) refer to Judges, Israel judges had the law and use the word of God to make judgment. Jesus is saying to the Jews: you're judging me and here you, yourself are call gods, and your mad at me because I call myself one. Jesus is the Supreme God. it was their law because God gave it to them. Word of God can't be broken.
  • Irene123 on John 10 - 7 years ago
Jn. 10:32 - Jesus HIMSELF advocated good works, but He was referring to just Himself at this time - as He had not as yet ascended and sent back the Holy Ghost - Acts 2:4, v. 38..

Suzanne, ( John 10:34-36); in this part, the Jews were scandalized by the irrefutable fact before their eyes, that God was come to them in the flesh; and were completely hardened to all Jesus' wonderful works of power, and the unsearchable wisdom of His words; all which, ONLY GOD COULD DO! As to us being called gods, who have the Word of God in us; How else should we describe those in God's image?

I am seeking the meaning of John 10:34 35 36
Im not sure what Jesus is saying here. If we are gods..... can you please clarify this .

  • Irene123 on John 10 - 7 years ago
To Stephanie - Thank-you for your response. I know that we can have more 'n more of Jesus; we can never have enough; we grow from faith to faith; I want to encourage to - PRAY for our President. That GOD's will will be done in his decisions for this nation and world. God bless you and yours, Stephanie.
  • Stephanie on John 10 - 7 years ago
Yes, Irene123, I was referring to you. I think the comment/question you had made was "How do you go through the door...?". It wasn't that I was implying you didn't go to church enough, just some ways that you can have Jesus in your heart.
  • Irene123 on John 10 - 7 years ago
To Stephanie - Were you talking to me .....? Because you didn't use the "123" - I can't be sure, nor could I find any name of Irene or Irene123 in the back comments of this chapter. If you were I wish I remembered what I said to make you think I don't attend ch. enough,

  • Gdc on John 10 - 7 years ago
This is truly one of the most prophetic of the scriptures. Jesus gives us light unto the magnificent grace that have been bestowed upon his saints. That we have the power by the Holy Ghost to endure temptation. We hear his voice, we follow him. We have the power to overcome the evil one by faith. Jesus also tells us that he and the father are one as we are one through his life that he laid down.
