Why did the Lord tell David in 2 Samuel 12:8 that I would have given you such and such?
  • D W L on John 1 - 3 years ago
John 3:17 For God sent not HIS SON into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

John 1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

I was just trying to answer a question.

If you think about it, Nathanael got written into the Bible. That's a blessing.
  • Stanjett - In Reply on John 1:10 - 3 years ago
Does it matter who was first? I was millions of years past the first and I don't care, as long as I was chose.

I heard it another way. If you spilled salt, then company was coming. I would not worry about theses sayings. They are nothing but folk lore.

    John 1:13

By nature every person is born in sin through the sinful seed of their natural fathers and conditioned therein ( 1 Peter 1:23). For that reason and in order to become a son of God, which are born of God, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God, a person must be 'Born Again' ( John 1:12,13; 3:3-7; 1 John 3:9; 5:4).

By attending a man-made institution ( Acts 7:48; 17:24) a few hours a week does not mean that a person can make a claim that they are followers of Christ and 'Born Again'. That is falsehood, as in truth they follow after an image of a false god and a false Christ ( Matthew 24:24; Mark 13:22; Gal. 4:8; Rev. 12:9). This is how Satan has transformed Himself into an angel of light ( 2 Cor. 11:13-15).

Only through 'True Repentance' will God be able to reveal Himself, and adopt you as His sons and daughters ( Rom. 8:15,23; 2 Cor.6:18; Gal. 4:5; Eph. 1:5; Hebr. 12:5; 1 John 3:1).

The word 'Repent' means a lot more than what people by nature have been conditioned to believe. It is the key principle of all the teachings of Jesus Christ and the axiom (basis) of the Word of God and a prerequisite and primary requirement for the salvation of mankind. It actually means the changing of spirits - to turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God ( Acts 26:18).

For a better understanding and the 'spiritual truth' of what it means to repent, and learn how and by whom mankind has been deceived ( Rev. 12:9), and what people must do to be reunited with the true and living God, we invite you to seek Him according to the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive ( John 14:17).

You need not that any man teach you ( Isaiah 54:13; 6:45; 1 John 2:27), It is only by revelation of God that you will come to know Christ ( Daniel 12:4,9; Amos 3:7; Matthew 16:17; Luke 2:26; Romans 16:25; 1 Cor. 2:10; Gal. 1:16; Eph. 3:3,5; Rev. 1:1). It is a narrow way that leadeth unto 'Life', and few there be that find it ( Matthew 7:14).

Looks like Nathaniel became a witness of some kind.
  • Mishael on who identified Jesus as the Son of God - In Reply on John 1:49 - 3 years ago
We can't really know who said it first because of the time issue between the 2 Chapters:

    Matthew 16:16. Peter

    John 1:49. Nathaniel

I think you made a good catch. The only problem is that Nathanel was not one of the 12 Disciples.

    Comments anyone else?
  • Alfonso on John 1:49 - 3 years ago
I was always under the impression that Peter was the first to believe Jesus was the Messiah/Son of God. ( Matthew 16:16). Who is Nathanael and was he the first person to acknowledge Jesus as the Son of God/King of Israel? Thank you.

Had a comment from a JW on spiritism (bad stuff). I want any scriptures that refer to this for I dont see guidelines for what she means; only what my own reading reveals............horrible...for this is my daughter. My Mom used to say if you drop silverware company is coming. Not meant seriously! My daughter had a fit and said it was 'spiritism' (from the devil). I cant think of scriptures. I know of all the possessions and the calling of a dead man. Please help me for I dont know how to help Her. Praise God and Bless you.

  • USING THE WEBSITES BIBLE STUDY HELPS on John 1 - 3 years ago
When you first enter this website you will see 2 SEARCH Boxes. One is empty and the other is set up so you can dial in your scripture.

If you want to read what scholars have explained about your scripture, you will need to touch your scripture to highlight it Yellow.

Scroll slowly downward until you see the COMMENTARY BOX.

Some commentary will explain in groups of scripture ie.1-5, 6-20, Etc

I use this a lot! If search can't find your particular verse, a box to search in Google will pop up. Scan the verses there and see if you see the scripture worded a little differently.

    *****

If the word you remember is in either Old Testament; or New Testament, you can select one, and the search engine will list them in order.

    *****

There many BIBLE study helps on here that you can use to widen your searches and help you find something Faster. Don't be afraid to try everything out and see what it does. Be adventurous :)

Keep paper and pencil next to you so you can look up verses in your Bible later; in Context.

Use center of each page columns to (the little alphabet letters) to widen your study of each verse. They may pertain to history, or prophesies.

If you get lost, just back arrow or back out and come back in again.

    Lora, CONCERNING THE WORD "MYSTERY"

I agree with you, the mystery of God is complex.

I do not agree with you concerning the "mystery of godliness" as it pertains to Scripture you provided, being God Himself. I believe it concerns the Son of God being born of woman ( Isaiah 7:14). Jesus is the One spoken of in 1 Timothy 3:16 and the One promised in Genesis 3:15

I agree with you, Jesus is the way to salvation.

I, however, must disagree with you that God is Jesus and Jesus is God, and again will state that I believe Jesus never came claiming to be His Father.

Jesus came as the personification of the Words of the Father John 1:1-2); and His authority came from the Father; and He lost none of His Father's sheep ( John 17:12)

But Jesus is not the Father.

The word mystery only occurs in the New Testament.

The word "mystery" is the Greek word "musterion" and basically means a "secret."

There is more than one "mystery" spoken of in Scripture.

There is the mystery concerning the DURATION of time of the blindness of Israel ( Isaiah 6:9-10, Romans 11:25).

There is the mystery concerning the kingdom of God which was revealed in parables to the general public, but explained to the 12 Apostles; ( Matthew 13:10-11, 1 Peter 1:10-12)

There is the mystery concerning the fact that "we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed" ( John 11:25-26, 1 Corinthians 15:51, also look at Philippians 3:14, 1 Thessalonians 4:15, Hebrews 9:27)

There is the mystery of iniquity and lawlessness that is connected to MYSTERY BABYLON of Revelation 17:5-7, (look at Daniel 8:23, Daniel 12:4, Matthew 22:4, Acts 2:38, 2 Thessalonians 2:7)

There is the great mystery or secret concerning the Gentiles being co-heirs in the body of Christ, which was only revealed after the second rejection the King and the Kingdom by the Jews in Acts 28:17-31. This is the secret that was kept secret since the world began and what is being spoken of in Romans 16:25-26, Ephesians 3:1-12, and Colossians 1:24-27.
  • The TRANSFIGURATION OF JESUS - In Reply on John 1 - 3 years ago
    Matthew 17 < link

1 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,

2 And was TRANSFIGURED before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.

4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.

7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.

8 And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.

9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the VISION to no man, until the SON OF MAN be risen again from the dead.

Jesus was the Son of God, from Genesis until His birth. He SET ASIDE His powers as the Son of God to become The Son of Man.

In His Ministry, HE said, I do what I see my Father doing. (Look it up) I believe that for 3 years, God gave power to Jesus To perform miracles. The LET US was still communicating together those 3 years.

It's not trinity or triune: it is The Godhead.

(I posted comment a few hours ago in the Discussion room, again about the Godhead scriptures.

See, I don't care about Greek, Hebrew or opinions. I care what The Holy Spirit teaches. We all should. Jesus was transfigured to show his disciples: Father speaking; the Holy Spirit revealing the Son of God in his glory.

That's enough for me. It happened; it was witnessed; it was recorded.

This business of people coming in almost every day confused by words like triune, trinity is not right. Teach: LET US.

Hi Mishael, do you think Jesus isn't a spirit? Do you think he's a man now, even though he's not on earth?
  • Mishael - In Reply on John 1 - 3 years ago
    God is spirit.

    The Holy Spirit is spirit.

Jesus is the Son of God, and the son of Man.

    All God and all man.
  • Adam - In Reply on John 1 - 3 years ago
Hello, does this comment suggest that Jesus is the body? You can say metaphorically he is the body of the church (technically the head), but literally and physically he was a body on earth, but not currently. And if the spirit is the Holy Spirit, then God the father is a 'soul'? I'm just wanting to clarify if that's what you meant?
  • Onyekachukwu Ogechi Levinus Alaka on John 1:17 - 3 years ago
This does not mean that what was in the law was not true. John is merely saying that grace came and a complete telling, or revealing, of the truth was made through the Mediator Jesus Christ our Savior. He finished it, put the capstone on it, and revealed it to us. And whatever does not agree with the truth is false or unprofitable. Whatever is false will not lead to eternal life but to the second death where we do not want to go! Once we see that "the light of truth" has illuminated something false, we drop it. We should get away from it as fast as we can. Do not linger over it.
  • Lora - In Reply on John 1:3 - 3 years ago
Greg, the mystery of God can seem to be so complex if it was never taught you. First read Isaiah 9:6 for the prophecy then read 1Timothy 3:16. Paul or Saul at the time, was crucifying Christians because he thought their teaching and worshiping of Jesus as God was heresy. Saul KNEW the scriptures and that there was only one God so he was zealous in trying to (what he thought) wipe out this Jesus movement. When God struck Saul down on the Damascus road and blinded him and Saul cried out to the Lord/God asking Him who He was, God told him He was Jesus. Jesus is the name above every name,Acts4:12. When Jesus was crucified He took on all the sins of the world and God's spirit had to leave his body hence Jesus crying, Father, why hast thou forsaken me? I hope I helped you a little bit. This is why we need to be filled with the HOLY GHOST so we can read and understand with the spirit. What must we do to be saved? Acts 2:38, repent, be baptized in the name of Jesus for the remission of sin and thou shalt be filled with the HOLY Ghost.

  • THE GODHEAD EXPLAINED - In Reply on John 1:10 - 3 years ago
Write these scriptures in the back of your Bible. This comes up frequently.

    The GODHEAD:

    Father, Son, Holy Spirit

    Acts 17:27-30

    John 10:30

4 Events when the Godhead spoke to each other concerning a matter:

    The "LET US" scriptures"

    Genesis 1:26

    Genesis 3:22

    Genesis 11:7

    1 John 5:7

If your Bible has center of each page, columns; read the scriptures it lists for those verses. It widens the information, or sometimes mentions a prophesy. You'll discover many gems of wisdom that way.

  • Greg - In Reply on John 1:10 - 3 years ago
    Adam,

Yes, I have read John 10:30.

The word "one" is the Greek world "hen" which is neutral, and means "one in essence", not one person, which would be the Greek word "heis," which is masculine.

You have picked one Scripture out of the Bible to prop your belief up on without putting it in context, look at ( John 10:22-29).

Again, what do you do with all those Scriptures that says God and Jesus are two different entities?
  • Adam - In Reply on John 1:10 - 3 years ago
    Hello, have you read this?

    John 10:30

To me, while there's some separation because of their names, it says they "are one" that means they are one and unified as a being or entity. Therefore Jesus is God too. He has the powers and checks all the other boxes of a divine being but is not God the father. I personally don't know how this verse can be interpreted any other way. In other verses it shows them unified with the Holy Spirit too so that's how people come to understand the concept of a trinity.

    How is Jesus God?

    God is God.

Jesus is the SON of God.

When Jesus called His Father "God" He was referring to Psalms 22, which He was teaching to the people present there. He was not complaining.

Jesus was NEVER forsaken by God.

What do we do with all Scripture that speaks of BOTH the Father and the Son? Matthew 11:27, 16:27, Mark 8:38, 13:32, Luke 1:32, John 3:35, Galatians 4:6, Hebrews 1:5, 1 John 4:14, etc. etc. etc.)

Scripture does not say "In the name of the Father, the Father, and the Holy Ghost." Matthew 28:19

Comments about John 1 v 12 KJV . This v 12 is trying to tell us something in the spirit."Even them that believe on his Name " like in Namesake a grandson ( Gods GRANSONS which are spirits )Who is he speaking of not BORN of BLOOD, nor of the will of MAN , nor of the will of FLESH ( CARNALLALITY SATANS SEAT ) He is not speaking of US, this is about the Namesake the H.G. THAT HAS TO BE BORN in us SINNERS, Its the H.G that comes in his NAME,Jesus said the Father wd send the H.G in MY NAME via his seed the WORD. Several times Jesus said blessed is he that comes in the NAME of the LORD THATS THE H.G. that comes in his Name. Its the H.G. that is not born of flesh nor blood , nor of the will of man. he is not a flesh and blood being but a spritual being that has to be born in US. Its the H.G. that can only be born by the will of God,not by the WILL OF ANY MAN BUT ONLY BY THE WILL OF GOD. As Jesus said that which is born of the spirit is spirit thats the H.G. The only way we can become the Sons of God is by the BIRTH OF CHRIST IN US SINNERS WHICH IS THE BIRTH OF THE H.G. THAT WHICH IS BORN OF THE SPIRIT IS SPIRIT. When John mentions NAME that rings a bell .Jesus said the FATHER ( the one who sows that good seed jesus ) will send the H.G IN MY NAME.Even in the natural we all know that whosoever sows the seed is the father of the child his Name (sake) the H.G. Thats y he came, to make mankind righteous via a good seed the word the contents of the new covenant, That Book . I will know them ALL from the least to the greatest and i will put my WORDS IN THE HEARTS AND MINDS ETC.Being bornagain of an incorruptible seed etc even by the Words of God.The blood is also the Word as Jesus was the WORD MADE FLESH AND BLOOD,Thats y he says you are made clean by the Word i have spoken unto you. When he said Blessed are them that come in the name of the lord thats them that have the H.G. his name sake the gransons, the children of Promise.Whosever receives one such Child in my NAME receives Me

Comments on John 1. His life was the LIGHT OF MEN ,but here are 2 lights the lesser light and the greater light. The bible is the lesser light THE WRITTEN WORD but the greater light is the H.G. THE LIVING WORD . One is a night light and 1 is a day light, Jesus said are there not 12 hours in a day and 12 hours in a night, If a man walk in the night he will stumble. David said thy word is a light unto my path, and a lamp unto my feet. describing a night light but David stumbled, ( Bathesheba ) .But he was forgiven . But my point is the written word answers to the lesser light but the living word which is the H.G. ANSWERS TO THE LIVING WORD, my words are spirit and life which is the H.G. tHE GREATER LIGHT. Search the scriptures in them you think you have eternal life but it is them that testify of ME, No eternal life in the written words the scriptures th bible etc,If eternal life were in the written words the Scriptures, jesus shed his blood in vain and the cross was just foolishness. thats the point i am trying to make, that you see the 2 lights the 2 words one is spirit and 1 is paper and ink. Mary was not impregnated by the written word but by the living Word, as Jesus is the living word made flesh and blood the Greater Light. the lesser light is like the moon, it has no light of its own the only light it has is what is reflected from the son/sun. Thus if the H.G the greater light does not revel it unto you there is no spritual light in it as satan can be an angel of light ' but thats a false light ( written words ) without the spirit of Christ as he said my WORDS ARE SPIRIT AND LIFE THE LIGHT OF MEN ( THAT GREATER LIGHT ) THE SON/SUN. REMEMBER JESUS SAID THE NIGHT COMES WHEN NO MAN CAN WORK. Jesus also said The days will come when you will desire to see 1 of the days of the son of man the greater light but you will not see them impling a time of darkness spritually, Isaiah said that darkness will cover the earth and gross darkness th people. The present time gb
