Wesley's Notes for John 6:51

6:51 If any eat of this bread - That is, believe in me: he shall live for ever - In other words, he that believeth to the end shall be saved. My flesh which I will give you - This whole discourse concerning his flesh and blood refers directly to his passion, and but remotely, if at all, to the Lord's Supper.

Discussion for John 6:51

  • Jesus was clearly preparing Himself and His
followers for the conclusion of His mission on earth.. Prophecy foretold exactly his purpose.
He came to earth fully man yet fully God showed us how we should live and love.

He was the perfection that we could never be.
So He who was perfect willingly died for we who are imperfect.

Less we forget the agony and cruelty of His suffering for us.

Jesus said: take eat for this is my body which is broken for you and likewise He took the cup and said drink you all of this for this is my blood of the new covenant which is poured out for you and as often as you do this do so in rememberance of me.

    Thank you Jesus
  • Dear brothers and sisters, Eating and drinking Jesus' flesh and blood is to follow His teachings. Mainly love God and mankind eternally, even though he or she is not follower of Jesus. But he or she that obeys His commandments will be saved. Murderers and evildoers are out.
  • Evalea Latham for verse 51
Jesus Christ is our living bread. He is our daily bread and in Him we live forever. Praise God!!
