People's Bible Notes for John 3:2

Joh 3:2 The same came to Jesus by night. He probably chose the night in order to escape observation. He did not dare encounter the hostility of the priests, filled with rage over the cleansing of the temple, and yet he wished to know more of one whom he believed to be sent from God. Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God. Nicodemus confesses, not only his belief, but that of his fellow Pharisees and rulers. The miracles of Jesus convinced them, even if they would not admit it, that he was a teacher sent from God. He came for information, and Jesus recognized it in what follows.

Discussion for John 3:2

  • Mike Dorwart for verse 2
It 's amazing how different people see Jesus. Here Nicodemus saw Jesus as a teacher come from God when in fact he was God come to teach. Another thing that 's amazing is the way men viewed the miracles of Jesus. Blind eyes open, dead raised to life, and much more. Nicodemus saw them as they truly were, an act of God, when others saw them as the work of Satan. Nicodemus was on the right tract and it 's my belief he later trusted in Christ as Lord.
  • Larry richards for verse 2
On this night, following a full day in which a large number of people watched Jesus perform many miracles, I wonder where everybody else was? Perhaps having dinner, or a nap, or on a date, or at a party. At any rate, too busy to visit Jesus. All but this one very good man who wanted to learn more from Him. Far from showing scorn, our loving saviour responded by teaching him how we see and enter into the kingdom of God.
