People's Bible Notes for John 20:31

Joh 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, etc. This is the object of all the gospel histories. They aim to so reveal Christ as to produce faith in him. He is the one object of belief. He is the Christian's creed. Faith in him, a faith that takes him as the Christ, saves the soul. All who have such faith wrought by the word of God will "have life through his name".

Discussion for John 20:31

  • Michele, there are some places in Scripture that would seem to teach what you are saying, yet the whole tenor of Scripture is that one is "freely justified by his grace. " Now, the evidence of being saved is that one no longer wants to sin nor sees salvation as a license to sin, but there is remaining corruption in the best of us - see Romans 7, please.
  • Michele for verse 31
I think that the word may and might says a lot about salvation. Jesus came that we "may or might" eneter into His rest. Seems salvation is a condition on not willfully sinning
