Wesley's Notes for John 15:14

15:14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you - On this condition, not otherwise. A thunderbolt for Antinomianism! Who then dares assert that God's love does not at all depend on man's works?

JOHN 15:13 GREATER LOVE HATH NO MAN THAN THIS THAT A MAN LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS FRIENDS --- 15:14 YOU ARE MY FRIENDS IF YOU DO WHATSOEVER I COMMAND YOU --- MARK 8:35 FOR WHOSOEVER WILL SAVE HIS LIFE SHALL LOSE IT BUT WHOSOEVER SHALL LOSE HIS LIFE FOR MY SAKE AND THE GOSPELS THE SAME SHALL SAVE IT

Ye have not chosen me I have chosen you and ordained you that ye should go and bring fort fruit. This fruit should remain in you that everything you ask to my Father in my name you shall receive. The chapter in context -key: in me(Jesus) - deals with (believers, The Saved) Love, Abide and Fruit Bearing, vs 6. fruit(work) shall burn if we don't abide it becomes wood, hay, and stubble(1 Cor 3:11-15)..Fruit (Gal 5:22-23) Love then encompasses all Joy and Peace in us, (next three) with our brethren, (last three) with God. God's work thru us.. Faith in Jesus Christ and love for the brethren.

"..but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you." Do you ever think about why God had His Prophets write the Bible so large? We have to understand that God DOES INDEED intend us to know all things, but He waits for us to be able to bear it. There is no need, and absolutely no allowance for guessing, if we are true and sincere His friends!
