People's Bible Notes for Revelation 22:2

Revelation 22:2 In the midst of its street. In the Revised Version this is attached to Revelation 22:1. It is the river of life that runs in the street. On each side of the river, watered by it, stands the tree of life . . . yielded her fruit every month. The thought is that it is always fruitful, not limited to certain seasons of fruit bearing. The leaves of the tree [were] for the healing of the nations. We are not to conclude that there were diseases to be healed, but that in the city were the means which banished disease and death. The student cannot fail to trace the correspondence with the home of the sinless race in Eden. There was there "a river that went out of Eden to water the garden" (Genesis 2:10). Here there is a river, "clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb" (Revelation 22:1). There was a tree of life in Paradise. In the New Jerusalem, on either side of the river stands the tree of life bearing twelve manner of fruits, or rather fruit twelve times a year, every month. The river and the tree are symbols of the life bestowed by the grace of God. The river flows from the throne of God and the Lamb; from the fountain whence life and immortality come. The tree yields its fruit at all times, so that the supply never fails. Everything about the tree is healthful. Even the leaves are for the healing of the nations. There is a book, a river and a tree of life. Christ is the life, and all refer in some way to Christ. Trees and rivers presented most attractive features in an oriental city, and are beautiful emblems of the full supplies of life, grace and bliss that shall pervade the heavenly city.

Joel 2:1-11 describes the 6th trumpet, day of the Lord strike on America/Mystery Babylon. How does a 2,700 year old prophet describe a smart missile attack so accurately? They don't break ranks, they climb up the wall and enter in at the windows like a thief. Jesus said he comes like a thief. All faces will be pained. There are 90 scriptures that describe this event known as "the abomination of desolation", set in America. Is 13, Is 24, Is 21, Ez 21, Ez 38:1-17, Jeremiah 50/51, Revelation 18. In the same hour America falls, Israel is invaded and taken captive (Luke 21:20-24). This is prophesy. This is anti-Christ's rule.

Revelation 18:21 - And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great millstone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall that great city Babylon be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all. .....

......Revelation 18:24 - And in her (Babylon) was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.

babylon was responsible for the BLOOD of PROPHETS.

Revelation 16:6 - For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy.

Revelation 17:6 - And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.

    Mystery Babylon killed the prophets

Jesus speaking Luke 13:33 - Nevertheless I must walk to day, and to morrow, and the day following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem.

for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem.

Jesus - Matthew 23:37 - O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.

the two witnesses of God are mentioned here:

Revelation 11:8 - And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

Jesus, MY LORD was crucified in JERUSALEM, which is spiritually called Sodom and Egypt. NOT Rome or in Mecca or the USA

Do we believe Jesus or commentaries?

    How about Paul?

Paul writes in 1 Thess 2:14, 16 - For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, EVEN AS THEY HAVE OF THE JEWS: WHO BOTH KILLED THE LORD JESUS, and their OWN PROPHETS, and have persecuted us; and THEY PLEASE NOT GOD, ....

In this chapter we see Joel again warning of the approaching judgment of sinners emphasizing how time was running out. In making application we see that the Lord extends grace for repentance for a specific period of time. Just as we do not know the specific time of the second coming of the Lord we do not know if we will have more than one opportunity to respond to the Lord when convicted of our sin. All we know is that today is the day of repentance. How about you? Do you see that the we are not promised tomorrow. Let us learn from our text today and the warning from Joel to see that there is a time when we will no longer have the opportunity to repent reminding us that today is day of repentance.

I think he is talking about the end times and giving us more info on what is going to happen. "The sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before the great and terrible day of the Lord come. " which text like this can also be found in parts of revelation.

Joel's prophecies can only come true in the Kingdom Age, Christians are not given signs, wonders, dreams and vision. We have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, access to the Throne of Grace, a completed Bible, and the command to 'walk by faith...

"And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit." Joel 2:28,29 (KJV) READ IT ALL...

"And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come." Joel 2:30,31 (KJV).

remnant whom the LORD shall call. A preacher from a little church a couple of blocks down the road from us came by our house and invited us to come visit the church. We went and when the preacher invited all to come up and accept Christ My wife poked me with her elbow, so we both went up and accepted Christ. Later I told her if she hadn't poked me I would not have gone up. She said I poked you not

Vs 28: "And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh..." We are living at a time where we are witnessing God's Spirit being poured out upon the earth. His prophets and messengers are RISING UP, trying to awaken a sleepy church and a world that does not know He exists. GOD IS SPEAKING, but who will hear Him?

Yes Norma; And not only all our wasted years, but all the wasted world because of sin over sin over sin, for all the centuries and generations of the ruin because of the heathen's rage against God and His Anointed. In the Prophets it is said, that we are going to rebuild the old waste places; all the cities and Nations that the "locusts" have devoured, in the Kingdom of God to come. Isaiah 58:12
    I believe it's telling me.
that God will restore all my wasted years. all the years of wasted time, energy, relationships. everything that was stolen from me.

we see the beginnings of this in the Messianic Jews, true to their Jewish heritage as well as Naming Christ the messiah I know Messianics that speak in tongues and Christians that honor Jewish tradition. The day is coming when all of his people from all different denominations that love Him, Praise Him and Give him Glory heeding his directions to us. Praise His name. Maranatha

Look into Jewish traditions like Kabbalah. Look at the Chabad Lubavitch group they teach that kabbalah is the soul of judaism they claim.
They call Jesus Yeshu which is a curse actually.
the new testament was written in Greek and not Hebrew and anyone who refuses to use the name of Jesus, the name that devils tremble at, is suspect in my opinion.

Q: Did Jesus take the Kingdom of God from the Jews?

A: Mathew 21:43 : Therefore say I (Jesus speaking to the Jews) unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
What nation? Greeks who spread the gospel while it was unbelieving jews who tried to stop it. Read Paul's writings

It was our Glorious and Blessed Lord Christ Messiah Yeshua - who had truly already come in the flesh once and for all time to come who had closed out the Old Testament age - Kingdom of Heaven Genesis / 4 Gospels included / water baptism from John - was for the Jewish people of that day and time only - not the gentiles = Rightly Divided - while on the cross had kicked open the new age of His Divine Grace of the Temporary age of the Gentiles on the Day of Pentecost - book of Acts - was the transition into it = - Holy Spirit = speaking in Tongues - = Romans through Jude / STOP. Why ? Because the book of Revelation transitions back to the Kingdom of Heaven age book of Revelation.

Matthew 1:21 - And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. IS Jesus wrong that you use YESHUA? So is the Bible "mistranslated''? An angel of the Lord said to use this name. By what authority does anyone else have to use another? Just curious is all.

Acts 4:12 - Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

"Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain:" By all the writings of the Apostles and Prophets, and ALL the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ tell us plainly that we are appointed to humiliation and persecution, to fill up the sufferings of Christ in His body, and show our faith through the doctrine of the cross. "Before all these things, THEY SHALL LAY HANDS ON YOU..."

BSP; you bring up a very important point, although I have to show you something about that. In this very chapter is described quite differently than what you say: "Let the priests the ministers of the LORD weep..saying, Spare thy people O LORD.." It is part of our duty as Christ's disciples to walk in His steps of feeling compassion and hurt WITH those suffering, to stand up for them before God.

I love the fact that God has mercy and grace on his people, even though there will be hard times for Christians in the end times but God will still pour out his blessings and favor for his people..
