Jeremiah Chapter 15 Discussion

Hello Barbara. It is my understanding that if the word 'Pastor' is correctly (i.e. biblically) applied, then yes, sisters in the Church Fellowship can take on a pastoral role of shepherding the sheep (and specifically to other women & young people).

But throughout the New Testament, the one who leads, teaches & guides Christ's Church are called Overseers or Elders (& the word 'Bishop' is used in 1 Timothy 3:1,2 & Titus 1:7, as the 17th Century English of the KJV dictated such naming). Women were never appointed to that position of overseeing or governing the Church Body in those early days. It seems however if we go through Church history, there have been some Churches very early on, that have ordained women into pastoral or teaching roles, & this became more necessary as men were drafted into the major wars, especially those of the 20th Century; this dearth of men warranted women filling these positions. There are many opinions whether this action was actually required and that the guidance from the Bible on this issue was being circumvented. And this continued on, even when such wars ceased & men were able to remain on home turf, & of those so enabled by the Lord, to lead Christ's Church. Thus we have today, many women in leadership positions in their Church Fellowships, which I believe is clearly contrary to the Scriptures.

    Mishael,

So true about getting to know the Spirit of God who always points us to Jesus. And so true about the Spirit leading us into the "desert" at times to learn of Him and be sustained by His Word without outside influence and to be tested to strengthen our faith by giving God all of our weakness in exchange for a stronger faith through an over-flowing filling of the Holy Spirit "and power.

We can get so busy in "doing" for Christ (church work, everyday ministry to our families and friend) that we become weak and exhausted, so the Spirit leads us into the desert. Sometimes we are walking a road of compromise and He leads us into the desert to become whole and sound again. Other times He leads us into the desert to be radically changed by His overwhelming Presence and Holiness. But in every desert experienced there is sanctification and intimacy and victory that cannot be taken hold of any other way.

God bless you today, Mishael. Thank you for your inspiration in your post. I am always blessed by what you say.

Your reliance on the Holy Spirit is you strength. We have to find out who He is to us. He is the Spirit of Jesus.

I learned a lot from studying Paul's life. He was miraculously saved! He thought he should go meet the Disciples in Jerusalem. Didn't quite go as he planned. Jesus sent Paul out into a desert with the Holy Spirit for 3 years! Anything presumptive was dealt with. So this applies to us too (sometimes). We have to be willing to go to the desert if Jesus chooses that. We don't.

If you are chosen to be a ministry gift (Prophet, Teacher, Pastor, Evangelist, missionary) the you need to sit with one of those gifts to see if that is where the Holy Spirit says to be "for a season".

Jesus did no miracles until he was anointed in Luke 4:18

( Isaiah 61). Receive the Holy Spirit to be your Teacher:

    1Corinthians 12. 1 Cor. 14:12, 14:38-40.

One thing I never did as a streetevangelist is to pray for salvation for someone on a sidewalk, and leave them in the "blood of new spiritual birth." I called them the next day or day before Sunday; and offered rides to my church. I dressed as they dressed. We sat together on the pews. Some I took them to meet Pastor or see about water baptism if they wanted to be baptized.

Some came to spaghetti dinners at my house. Always lots of fun with music, and testimonies sometimes. I always remember how I was saved. I lost all my good time party buddies; they didn't want to go to church with me :(

I picked a Baptist church thinking it would be less scary. As it happened the Holy Spirit was there. The sermon was "the curse of the Occult." Music minister gave a word of knowledge about someone who WAS in the occult for decades. Come forward. I did. I was healed of all kinds of pain. A Baptist lady told me 75 times I was FORGIVEN.

Trust the Holy Spirit to help you in what you need. Ask for what you need. Let go of pride and false shame.

Sharlene. God's desire is for us to believe by love and trust not force or make

Us that's not love motivation. That's why in the church Epistles we read

    Romans ,13;9,+ 13:13, Ephesians 4:28,29,31 also ,Phil.,2:4 and ,Col.4:6 the reason

It's let because as we read believe and do we will change because we are

Letting His sword work in us to do his good pleasure.

The "spoiler at noonday" commands a 3pm strike, when the sun is yet high in the sky.

    ( Jeremiah 15:7-9)

7 And I will fan them with a fan in the gates of the land; I will bereave them of children, I will destroy my people, since they return not from their ways.

8 Their widows are increased to me above the sand of the seas: I have brought upon them against the mother of the young men a spoiler at noonday: I have caused him to fall upon it suddenly, and terrors upon the city.

9 She that hath borne seven languisheth: she hath given up the ghost; her sun is gone down while it was yet day: she hath been ashamed and confounded: and the residue of them will I deliver to the sword before their enemies, saith the LORD.

( Isaiah 47:7-9) Different prophet, same DOTL account.

7 And thou saidst, I shall be a lady for ever: so that thou didst not lay these things to thy heart, neither didst remember the latter end of it.

8 Therefore hear now this, thou that art given to pleasures, that dwellest carelessly, that sayest in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children:

9 But these two things shall come to thee in a moment in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood: they shall come upon thee in their perfection for the multitude of thy sorceries, and for the great abundance of thine enchantments.

They have Frizbees now that are a ring with mesh stretched over it. My grandson likes to see me chase it. Boy do those things fly!

I like chihuahuas: their bark and proximity to ankles. I think of that when the enemy gets all puffed up and considers trying to squash Gods warriors. Greater is He that is in us.... :)

    Mishael,

Yes, it is amazing how much Israel is hated, and how they being such a small nation are in my opinion the most powerful nation on the planet. I say that because they are under God's protection. They cannot be wiped out no matter how many nations come against them. Even in the end, God will destroy all the armies that come against Israel. Even though there are many people that hate Israel, and hate the Jews, God does not hate them. When Jesus returns, every Jew who is alive on this earth will be saved. People can hate the Jews all they want but they are still God elect and His chosen people, and one day He will gather them back to Himself.

I usually find something in your posts that makes me smile. Your last two made me laugh, especially the "flying Frisbee" and the "Chihuahua barking at Bigfoot."

I just read what you wrote I agree and the Bible Says in it that Jesus States The World Hated me Before it Hated You. I agree with you on it all and I have seen it on the net. But news has Almost stopped here all but voting and Covid 19. That's pretty much our news with a few tid bits once and awhile.

Has anyone EVER asked WHY the entire planet hates Israel? Ever looked at a map and seen how small that nation is?!!

And Palestinians are squatted on 1/3 of it, screaming to all nations to force Israel to give up the rest of it.

The Russians are firing on USA fighter aircraft almost every week. China has Muslims locked up in camps to be reprogrammed. Does our network television report that? Have they reported on the new and improved SILK ROAD from China to the Mediterranean? (Supposedly for commerce traffic.) They plan to move nukes and troops on that road! It follows with end time prophesy.

The book of Job has a chapter on animals. We're the ostriches! Head down in the sand; buttocks up. I'm not at all sure any leaders in the USA have a working knowledge of Bible Prophesy. I do know Daniel 11 reads like the Israeli Daily newspaper. American newspapers don't give a flying frisbee what's going on.

Daniel 11:37 describes the Antichrist (the whole chapter does really). I don't believe he's Jewish. Possibly Muslim because of "the God of his fathers", comment.

Chapter 12: 3-4, 8-10 describes us, today. The words are being unsealed, and it falls to us to be wise and understand the words.

The wicked do not understand. That's why fake news has no interest in it. WHO will understand and speak it? I believe the churches are being closed, demonically, to silence us; to stop corporate prayer and intercession. Intercession gives birth to spiritual moves of God.

Who will count the cost...and Pay It?? It's time to wake, Sleepers. All of you. Give a break to pet doctrines and give some prayer to Daniel 11 & 12. we need to be rightly dividing: reading in Hebrew and Greek.

    See you tomorrow

The body of the Sabbath was fulfilled in Jesus Christ ( Colossians 2:16 & 17) allowing by the work on the cross in it's fulfillment to make rest for the soul. Man by separated from God by sin can have his sin in the body of Jesus Christ nailed to the cross.

    Here is Colossians 2:14

"Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;"

    And Romans 5:20

"Moreover the law entered, that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:"

    Jesus's words in Matthew 11:29

"Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and I will give you rest"

The soul of a born again member of mankind can have this sabbath rest in every day of their lives as long as rest from their own works of sin: rest meaning not to enter them again.

The bulk of this chapter's message is in vs 7-9.

This describes the 6th trumpet Beast (Russia) vs Babylon (US) and the desolations that will not be put off. God's people, the house of Israel and the house of Judah have behaved treacherously. It is ant-christ, "the spoiler at noonday" who takes the young men. 3 pm est/11 pm Israel time. America falls while her sun was yet high in the sky, Israel under darkness.

2018, we the people of earth (saved and unsaved) are guilty again of sins against our CREATOR (like those of this chapter). OUR /2018 trial is over and the wrath of GOD has begun, never-the-less, GOD is allowing time for the last few to repent and receive SALVATION. WE must keep on the WHOLE ARMOR OF GOD; each day is a battle /war against the forces of evil.

Saints, understand that we are in a real Kingdom, and the King is a very Holy God. The prophet Jeremiah, is warning the people to conduct themselves, in holiness or suffer the consequence. Our Lord is Holy, and we must practice righteousness. The Lord, will only look out for those who truly repent, and return to the true GOD. We have got to stop letting the devil, laugh at us!

(see also Ezekiel 23:18) "Then said the LORD unto me, Though Moses and Samuel stood before me, yet my mind could not be toward this people: cast them out of my sight, and let them go forth." Was this the Prophet's mind, or God's? and if it is a grief and horror to us, how much more to the Lord when He is forced to say these things about a people He has worked so hard and suffered so long to save!

This scripture is my favorite. The word of god is what sustains us and changes us. Jesus said that he is the word. This can be found in 1st john. If we spend our days and nights eating the word of god then will we have strength. We will be able to walk in the spirit of god as the lord commands us instead of walking in the flesh. When we dont eat natural food we are weak. The same applies in the spiritual realm. We will have no power to walk in the light as he is in the light. Also, the scripture states thy word was found and I did eat them. This reminds me of the scripture, knock and it shall be opened seek and ye shall find, ask and it shall be given unto you. This reminds me that I must seek out the word. That is why he said and thy word was found. We must seek it out.look for gods word and where he wants us.
  • Mary on Jeremiah 15 - 11 years ago
This chapter is about the people of God turning away from the word of God, which is the right way to go. They worshiped and praised other gods, when they knew who the true God was. I think this is what is happening now. Many people have such a strong hate for others, and are lovers of their own thoughts, are turning away from the true and only God, which affect our nation.
  • Dorcas on Jeremiah 15 - 11 years ago
It's a chapter whereby God calls upon His children, seeking to save them. He still provide with His mercy if you as a sinner return to Him. He promises to protect you among your enemies, to put you above the nations only if you return and convert.

While I understand what Frank is disturbed about and regard his honesty, YWHY our GOD has made a way for us to follow. It really matters not if God's ways upset us. We are to be obedient and follow the way of Life, that being the way He is lovingly leading us.
