Acts 2:38 was for the remission of sins for the house of Israel who crucified Jesus. Today we claim Christ righteousness for the remission of sins Romans 3:25. You are baptized by the Spirit today and not by some man 1 Corinthians 12:13

Rexford Murphy what do you do with Acts 2:38? And other examples of baptism ?. Baptism is how we get rid of our sins. Yes, we all will continue to sin because we are in the flesh but he says we will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Hubert is correct. The Holy Spirit helps guide us through prayer and our belief and faith. And desire to change our carnal self to spiritual.

What does God say about our Salvation Rexford does it include what Adam shared and Being Born Again of His Seed 1John3:9 and 5:18-20 We know He told us to be Perfected in His Love 1John4:16-19 Matt5:48 -Heb6:1 and to Work out our Salvation but not Meaning work for it Phil2:12 it's a Gift that we show we have fully after our Carnal Flesh has been put to death Rom8:12-15 Col3:4-6-Gal5:24-2 - Anne.

Hi Rexford, I'm interested in your viewpoint of Acts 2:38...
  • Rexford Murphy - In Reply on James 5 - 4 years ago
By the way Hubert .I forgot to mention to you that Baptism does not have one thing to do with being saved! If you think so you are still lost and without the Savior! The terms you spoke of were a part of the Kingdom Gospel Guess what? We are not there anymore but under the Gospel of Grace that Paul preached. Get your gospels straight! BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AND YOU SHALL B SAVED!
  • Rexford Murphy on James 5 - 4 years ago
Hubert Paul said Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shall be saved ! Period! You know exactly what you said means and what Paul meant! Stop mensing words! If you don t know .you are in big trouble! Are you caught up in following the law Hubert? You know what the INTENT OF THE WORD MEANS! Like I said IF YOU DON T, we need to pray for you!

Romans Ch 10:9 is as close as it gets to accepting Jesus as savior. Many denominations use this scripture as backup for their "sinners prayer." However you are correct in that to be truly saved is to repent, and be converted. Acts Ch 3:9 that you may hear the voice of the Lord. That you may hear the Truth, and the cure to the deception the devil has sowed on mankind with his lies. Ephesians 6:12

I LOVE JAMES. IT IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE BOOKS. HUBERT, I DON'T WISH TO ANTAGONIZE YOU BUT THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE SAYING. DOES IT HAVE TO BE IN THE BIBLE TO BE RIGHT? IS NOT ACCEPTING JESUS AS YOUR PERSONAL SAVIOR NOT A GOOD THING? I DO AGREE PEOPLE OFTEN SAY THINGS AS GOSPEL THAT ARE NOT IN THE BIBLE BUT IN THIS CASE I THINK IT IS A GOOD THING.
  • Hubert Guillotte on James 5 - 5 years ago
So many people say to accept the Lord as your personal savior,,, but I don't see that scripture in the Bible, but I do see where the man that had the keys to the kingdom, to repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. If it's in the Bible let's say it if it's not in the Bible let's don't say it

Its the precious and powerful Truth. We had a 15 year old girl who is a relative of mine who attended our church and she since birth had seizures and the doctors could not figure out the cause or how to stop them. We took her up front one Sunday anointed her with oil and prayed over her and since that day (praise God ) she has never had another one . James 5:14 says to do this. Its 6 yrs later.

"...The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much." If we are to have power with God in prayer, we are to walk as the prophets walked, as Elijah and Job walked, in the midst of this present vile generation of greedy and deceitful lovers of self, who make their wealth off the misuse of others. The fire of truth and zeal for God must be in our heart, and we must keep our integrity no matter how painful our earthly losses. Humility maintains a good conscience and holds truth in higher regard than every threat, and sustains us through every accusation of the wicked posing as brothers and friends in the Lord. The husbandman must labor before partaking of the fruits, and we must be proved before being entrusted with power in the world to come. The way of virtue and piety, which is the evidence of grace and the life of faith, is the way we will endure true and faithful to the end.
  • A disciple on James 5 - 5 years ago
"Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy." Job is a great example of what it means to really know the LORD in this evil world. God's testimony of him from the very beginning was that he was perfect and upright above all others, even when Satan and men accuse and contradict.

Dear Lord thank you for warnings against our corrupt leaders from Isaiah and even James. We pray for our citizens who put trust in leaders who lie and go against God. We are sorry for our babies killed, crying out from the earth. We are sorry for society pushing you and Jesus out, and inviting false religions to influence us. We are sorry Lord for siding with enemies of Israel. Lord, heal us now.

  • Tamar on James 5 - 6 years ago
James uses some ensamples for us to follow. Job through his suffering he prayed to God, and God brought him out of tribulations,Elias prayed that it might not rain God didn't send any rain. James also said the fervent prayers of the righteous avails much, we must pray without ceasing God shows pity for when we going through hard times and mercy bringing us out every situation the enemy gets us in.

Henrietta; Yes! The Lord Jesus Christ has been given all authority in heaven and on earth; and He has charged us in His name, to proclaim the Glad Tidings to every creature; teaching all men everywhere to keep all His words, everything that He has commanded us; thus also warning the rich that they not foolishly trust in their good things in life, and miss the truth and the word of their salvation.
  • Henrietta on James 5 - 6 years ago
I see 2 messages: one to the corrupted rich and one to the brethren. The rich will be judged for their fraudulent activities. The brethren are warned to stay pure in heart/ no grudges and to have patience. They are also encouraged to pray earnestly and to pray for the sick to be healed.
Sin and sickness are linked, but both can be remedied by the blood through prayer.
  • BSP on James 5 - 6 years ago
Verse 13 encourages us to express our feelings. When going through troubles we should pray and when rejoicing we should sing out joyfully.
  • BSP on James 5 - 6 years ago
When considering good examples, we should look to the faithful prophets examples as verse 10 encourages us to do.
  • Maria Sanabria on James 5 - 6 years ago
I also use oil to anointed myself and family but it is the blood of Jesus, that heals us.

Amen, Bruce, well said. It is a dangerous and evil spirit that tries to creep in among the unlearned, undisciplined and inexperienced Believers; that tells them they are special to the Lord, and His ONLY ONES, out of all Christians, "who got it right!" What inevitably happens with that kind of deception and arrogance, an unclean spirit is working in the hidden to overthrow the leadership with sin.
  • Irene123 on James 5 - 7 years ago
Merlene - Bruce is right - IF the other churches he named do indeed do this. It's your faith in God's healing. Oil should be used, but it's TOTALLY not necessary. I was healed of scoliosis at age 18 in '60 and I had no idea God was real, even tho' I'd heard about him. I th'ot for 10 yrs. I had done the healing - by just walking; then I began learning of HIM. God sees the need, cont.
  • Bruce on James 5 - 7 years ago
Irene: there are many churches that anoint with oil :Baptist, Alliance, Methodist and others I can't think of their Names. The ones that anoint with oil believe in healing, but not all believe in Salvation as the Scripture says.Only by the Blood of The Lamb: A tug in The Heart, ask forgiveness, Filled by The Spirit: Matthew 3:11 / Made New 2Corinthians 5:17, "You Will Know!"
