James Chapter 1 Comments ...

<-- Back to James chapter 1

Lu2677's comment on 6/14/2017, 7:26am...

James 1:21"receive with meekness the engrafted word which is able to save your souls. The "engrafted word", is all 66 books of Holy Writ. The"engrafted word" is not what some teach that there are only certain parts that pertain to salvation. I think they call it "fundamentals, and essentials doctrine" Be not deceived.

Verses 2 to 4 shows that when we successfully cope with trials it makes our faith stronger and we develop positive qualities.

Lewis Mills Jr's comment on 4/02/2017, 10:33pm...

To me this verse shows us how to be humble, and obedient, in honoring God with sincerity, doing what God's word says do, not seeking the attention of man. Obedience.

David V's comment on 1/25/2017, 3:52am...

Bruce, though the same Greek word for temptation is used it is spoken of in 2 contexts. The first is one in which you "fall into". This is meant to try the faith and produce enduring obedience and faithfulness to God as we experience His grace more and more.
The second refers to being tempted with that which God cannot be, evil. This comes from within and is inherent in our flesh see Romans 7.

Bruce's comment on 1/21/2017, 11:00am...

Dave:Persecution is hostility or ill-treatment especially because of race or political or religious beliefs. Temptatian: a desire to do something especially something wrong or unwise. Let's get to the "Heart" of the matter.V:14. Temptation comes from within. ( Temptation is not persecution.) John 6:44,1John1:9,you will be Matthew 3:11. You will know! 2Corinthians 5:17. Impossible not to know.

Vince's comment on 1/18/2017, 4:14pm...

Temptation is not sin, giving in to it is. We must recognize it for what it is and act accordingly

Geraldine Cole's comment on 1/17/2017, 11:48pm...

Praise The Lord Jesus

Ronald Beal's comment on 12/31/2016, 11:53am...

Temptation comes from within- we are drawn away, (from the provision of God) when we seek to obtain in our own strength. Lusting is not the temptation to break the Law; Leaving the provision/ power of God and attempting to obtain in our own strength, i.e., Sin. The provision by God is called Faith, all that is not of Faith is Sin, period. Follow "Faith" through the scriptures for confirmation.

Bruce's comment on 12/10/2016, 11:15am...

Temptation is not persecution! Temptation comes from within:V-15.
Persecution comes from outside Matthew5:10-12,V-11Blessed are ye, when men Shall revile you and persecute you and say all manner of evil against you falsely---.We are Salt and the only Light the world will see Matthew5:13-16.
Our Savior is the only one coming to town.He has a list of good and bad. Revelations 20.15

Lynn's comment on 12/09/2016, 3:19am...

Count it all joy . . . Every temptation is persecution from the adversary. Satan's goal is to bury the word in the confusion of living. However rejoicing in temptation allow us to remember the word to perform it in the temptation.

Angela's comment on 11/29/2016, 11:10pm...

I think verses 12 -15gives a clear explanation about how we fall into temptations. When we leave our fist Love and steer away from the Lord ,the devil is allowed to temped us and the lust of the flesh is weak and we fall and separate ourself from our lord. Spiritually we have a hard time getting back to the Lord because of the consequences of our actions. There is a hope though repenance .

Norm's comment on 7/16/2016, 8:52am...

For God made not death: neither hath he pleasure in the destruction of the living. For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.

Mbugua's comment on 7/16/2016, 2:35am...

Comment*James 1:19 The verse does not demand silence, but rather it encourages caution, teaching the continous discipline of the tongue. Speaking is to be economical, using few words and appropriate. Talebearing is to be strictly avoided because it wounds and tears down. Nothing is as effective in building a relationship as is speaking and hearing to one another

Noma's comment on 7/03/2016, 6:39pm...

God is love above all things. His love for us is unconditional and so we must just hold on to his love, and share his love amongst ourselves and above all to the unsaved

Immy purity's comment on 6/09/2016, 1:00am...

faith is the assurance of what we hope for and the certainty of what we do not see. faith makes us know that we can have it. we certainly must have it

Amala C's comment on 6/08/2016, 8:43am...

It is very true that God will not forsake those who WAIT ON HIM the waiting time is the most important time. we need to seek His face continually. His grace willl help us to stand firm.

Marivic Marin's comment on 6/08/2016, 5:32am...

When I was a new Christian God gave me a verse about faith word was empty to me at that time bec. I didnt understand as the spirit of God teaches me through my experience my circumstances, i started to grow in His word Faith not my own understanding but through Him. I never even realise that this is my weapon for all circumtances, situations I am going to face and He will be with me in it, He will never leave me nor forsake me through His word and I have faith in Him. His word become in my flesh. I walk by faith and not by sight. To God be the glory

Jannette's comment on 6/04/2016, 5:46pm...

Reading this today spoke to my heart. I want to be a doer of the word not just a hearer but temptation does pull you into criticizing others instead of treating them as God has treated us with kindness, nonjudgmental and graceful. Thank you God for these words of encouragement and guidance written by James. Blessed be your name.

Mim's comment on 5/28/2016, 6:30am...

Lilian's comment on 5/28/2016, 12:09am...

Jesus was given to us so that all of us will have life in abundance. Thanks to the blood of Jesus our sins are forgiven and we are pardoned. Jesus himself is the word of God and He is the perfect obedience to the Father therfore we must accept Jesus and trust and obey his words till rapture for his words gives us life. We must be a DOER AND NOT THE HEARER ONLY AMEN THANK U JESUS

Jamer nix's comment on 4/21/2016, 6:06pm...

Michelle's comment on 3/30/2016, 9:13am...

I was wondering where to start reading today. God brought me to the Comment Section and I found James. What a blessing to my heart.

Lisa's comment on 3/28/2016, 5:33pm...

James reminds me that we all must align our thoughts and actions with the word of God. We must awaken our inner man to the truth. It also reminds me that we have a loving father who is willing to give us wisdom to help us in our every day lives. We don't have to cary unecessary burdens.
