Isaiah Chapter 56 Discussion Page 3

While this passage does speak of political leaders, but primarily the religious leaders who are like dogs that are supposed to bark when they see danger. Instead the leaders have become dumb dogs who refuse to bark, but are slothful, as well as only concerned about their personal gain. How many politicians go to Washington to become millionaires while voting for budget cuts that hurt the military that is responsible for protecting the Country. Jesus warned that the leaders were blind guides, not knowing the hour of their visitation. Therefore Jesus wept over Jerusalem, and warned them their house would be left desolate. We pray that our leaders will wake up before it is too late. Will the smart dogs start barking?

I don't suppose any of our government officials have read this.
  • Henry on Isaiah 56 - 12 years ago
The sabbath is GOD'S holy day that is encompassed within the Ten Commandments and a double blessing will be given to anyone who keeps the sabbath because the sabbath is a blessing itself and the Lord says that He will again bless anyone that keeps it so a double portion of His blessing is therefore endowed.

  • Mark on Isaiah 56 - 12 years ago
I find it really interesting how everyone seems to either ignore or try to explain away the clear emphasis in this chapter concerning the sabbath......the only true sabbath. The one that occupies sundown to sundown covering the 7th day. When will man learn to just OBEY?
  • NICHOLAS N. N. on Isaiah 56 - 12 years ago
Isaiah 56:9-12 The bible here refers to spiritual enemies that attach christian when they are asleep spiritually.[ 1peter 4:5-8]8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour and Job 1;6=9, and the watchmen are Christians who the bible say should be praying without Ceasing [ Isaiah 6-2, EPH 6,18] eg Pastors all spiritual leaders parents and all who are suppose to stand on the gap because of Nation,Church,Family etc. May Almighty God help us understand this and we shall encounter less warfare from our enemy the devil.

i think its a call of repentance, God showing his love and mercy to this people and to the leaders to consider there ways of doing and remember why God have them there in that position, repent it's a wake up call to all.
  • Nick on Isaiah 56 - 13 years ago
I'm a democrat, and I don't see it that way at all. God is speaking of all men ( and Women), who are greedy.
Be it Politicians, Police, White Collar, Blue Collar, or People on Welfare. Anyone who seeks to gain off the misery of others, fits into this category. You forget God has the last judgment, not you or I. Whether, its President Obama, or Bush.
  • Bob rice on IsaiAH 56:10 - 13 years ago
The "watchmen" as described in 56:10 "...the dogs are greedy...they have turned to their own way.." vs.11. This described the politicians beginning the White House, the House and the Senate! Politicians today especially the liberal deomocrats (socialists) are only interested in their own gain and care less for the American people. Obama and the democrats have driven our economy down the tube with atleast 12 Trillion $!
