I love the comments and concur that God is a healer he brought a sister of mines back to life last March 2013. The prayer of faith works and I am believing God for my healing of some symptoms I've been having and by His strips I'm healed.

  • Ted Grant on Isaiah 53 - 10 years ago
Bits of this chapter were used by the New Testament writers when composing their stories. They had been told the Old Testament predicted the coming King and so they searched the Holy Books for anything, no matter how weak, that would fit. It's not predicting, it's composing. Besides, verse 7 says "he opened not his mouth". That doesn't fit, so we'll ignore it?

My son was on a slippery slope down with a very serious bacterial pneumonia. The doctors couldn't find the right treatment and nothing was working. A friend sent me this scripture and told me to right it on a piece of paper and place it under his head. Glory to God he is now stable and all his numbers look good.
  • Lou on Isaiah 53 - 10 years ago
Most beautiful words, awesome, as in totally awe struck...These words demand contemplation and they are moving beyond my ability to describe.
This chapter should be read often to remind us of Jesus' sacrifice and His willingness to pay the ultimate sacrifice.
Also, written in prophetic perfect tense, as a fait accompli...already a done deal, Awesome!

For an person like me, this chapter is a safe haven judging by my circumstances but, it also let me know the insurance plan we have with Christ. Now, In bible study tonight, We were taught that it may come a time where we may have to betray Jesus in that same manner. Well, I love my paster/teacher of word but, What Christ done on the cross within that hour- could never be duplicated or re-done. Now, we may have to sacrifice some of our own selfish desires for his name sake, but to no avail when it involve death.
  • Andrew on Isaiah 53:12 - 10 years ago
I still cannot understand "great". Who are the other greats that share Christ's reward?
  • Andrew on Isaiah 53 - 10 years ago
A very good transition from previous chapter's last 3 verses, which speak of the Lord Christ.
  • THRESA MULENGA on Isaiah 53 - 10 years ago
I feel that without Jesus I could have perished. And i think that we need to acknowledge that life is in Him a lone and no one else.I also think that we need to accept His love for; because He paid the debt He did not owe,and I owed the debt I could not pay,But...... when Jesus died on the cross all my debt was cancelled Aleluya!!

  • Karen White on Isaiah 53 - 10 years ago
Jesus paid a high price for our sins. We can never pay the debt we truly owe,but Obedience to the Word of God is a payment on our account without a late fee. God gives us ample time to get it right it's never to late to believe in Jesus Christ and confess that he died and rose to make us Free. Thank you Jesus for my Freedom from bondage to the sins of this world.
  • BSP on Isaiah 53:6 - 10 years ago
Mankind as a whole has inherited sin and this has led to a turning away from God. We must fight this inborn tendency and put forth the effort to draw close to God. The way has been opened for us to have forgiveness of our sins by means of Jesus' ransom sacrifice. Jesus did not deserve the harsh treatment he received or the painful death he experienced. As sinners we should have to pay, but he willingly offered himself up in our behalf.
  • Michael on Isaiah 53:5 - 10 years ago

What a love God have for us, that he gave his only begotten to come and die for us on the cross of calvary, let always call on God's name in term of trials and temptation and he will always be for us, never give up for the best is yet to come in our lives if we put Jesus first in all.
  • Otonye Amachree on Isaiah 53:5 - 10 years ago
From His heavenly height He came down to redeem us and be humiliated for our sake. Oh what love the Father and Son have for mankind. If only we can pay back with obedience.
  • Mdala Masilela on Isaiah 53:1 - 10 years ago
the word of God is like a seed that does not change its original DNA form. The same word has been and still is and yet will be heard by generations to com. The prophecy reveals the preacher of the gospel like those who first heard the gospel - as the sower like a farmer who went out to saw the seeds(proclaim the word of God to the world)"Who has heard the word of faith in the things heard by us". Blessed are those who believe in the word yet have not see. This is like seed sawn by the sower when other seeds fell on the road and were crumbled upon and crushed, the other seed fell on thorns when it germinated could not grow as it was pierced and eventually remained trapped in the thorns could not grow to yield fruits, the other fell on dry arid soil could not get nourishment from the soil as it failed to germinate, the other fell on the rocks was eaten by the birds whilst the one which fell on fertile loam soil germinated and stood against all odds grew tall and yielded abundant fruits that fed the nation. This is the prophetic word saw by Isaiah 53:1.
  • Dineo on Isaiah 53 - 10 years ago
Jesus christ the son of God has paid all our debt....everything that we deserved fall upon,he praise must be continual in our mouth by his wounds we are healed
  • Pastor Mwaura on Isaiah 53 - 10 years ago
He took our grief (past tense) and carried our sorrows (also apst tense is used) therefore joy and peace is our portion.
  • Dale Dorsett on Isaiah 53:5 - 10 years ago
Simply stated - He was wounded for our transgressions (became sin for us so that we could be free) - the chasti*****t of our peace He took on Himself (gives us His peace and His joy, which is His strength) - and by His stripes we are healed (faith in the Messiah healed those who believed what He would do and faith in what Jesus did He does now, like healing). We can receive these things or rationalize them until He can't manifest them for us.
He can't manifest what we doubt, even though the price has been paid.
  • Carol on Isaiah 53:5 - 10 years ago
Was writing a novel and was looking for a cross to have main character tattooed with. Came across a cross made out of two nails. in the middle of the cross was this quote: "and by His wounds we are healed." Isaiah 53:5. so I was looking it up and came to this site. What a nice site. Thank you. PS. i was looking on line at some Catholic store for different shapes of crosses for the tattoo. I liked this one best. God does work in mysterious ways. Carol
  • Ruth on Isaiah 53:7 - 10 years ago
its so touching that Christ was done all this uttering no word not even a complaint and yet us people we complain so much. whilst we taking all His suffering for our sins forgranted. How do i pray from my heart that please My God forgive me my sins and make me new this day and days to come i really dont want to miss Heaven
  • Lucy Mariga on Isaiah 53 - 10 years ago
He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
