Isaiah Chapter 47 Discussion

We must be every careful attributing any other acts to eternal salvation. We must also be careful to understand the audience. A great error is thinking every verse is directed to ourselves. Remember Paul told timothy to be very careful and divide the word correctly. Baptism is a very deep subject, and over 10 different baptisms. i.e. water, fire, spirt etc. The only baptism we are concerned with in our present time is the one Paul spoke of. He's our example, the apostle to the gentiles.

1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

Eph 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

This one baptism is not of water (for we are not priests because Jesus is the mediator) it is done at the moment we are sealed. Unseen, and not felt.

    And when is that?

    What must be DONE?

Ac 16:30 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

Ac 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

    Anything else?

Ro 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Ro 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

    1. Believe in the heart

    2. Confess with the mouth

    3. Call on His name ( Isa 45:22 Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.)

    What are the steps?

Eph 1:13 In whom ye also TRUSTED, after that ye HEARD the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye BELIEVED, ye were SEALED with that holy Spirit of promise,

    1. Hear

    2. Believe

    3. Trust

    4. Sealed ( 1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. )

The thief on the cross is a great example of Eph 1:13 in action

Do we know if Lazarus was Baptized ?
  • SJK1967 - In Reply on Isaiah 47 - 1 year ago
No. Baptism is not a requisite for salvation. Baptism is a form of discipleship. In order to be saved, all you need to do is believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died for you, shed his blood for you, died and rose again. You must confess Him as your Lord and Saviour. Ask Him in to your heart and to save you. That's it. After you are saved, the normal next step is baptism, but it's not required.

Do I have to be baptized in water to be saved?

    Yes ! Luke 24:47,48 Mark 16:16,17 , Acts 2:38 , Acts 4:12 , Acts 19:1-6 , Acts 5:32 ,

    Richard,

The lady of kingdoms is America, who else can it be? This chapter is about the day of the Lord and Mystery Babylon's fall.

Compare verses 8-9 to Jeremiah 15:8-9 as they compliment each other. "Their widows are increased....I have caused him (beast) to fall upon it suddenly (in one moment in one day), and terrors upon the city (nation)".

The Spoiler is the beast at noonday = 3 PM EST when the sun is high in the sky. This is why Mystery Babylon falls while it was yet day, by 4 PM EST.

America is that city (metaphor) that sits on 7 continents, Mystery Babylon, working hand in hand with her allies. They will all go dark judgment day.

    Hi Richard,

I agree that U.S.A. has so much repentance to do. We have degraded this lovely nation by abandoning Christ and His principles. Another thought, perhaps the "Lady" is actually the Queen of England. But who knows. Queen Elizabeth has only a few more years left to live, but the monarchy will continue. so, England is considered the mother land and it is surrounded by many waters.

When we look at Babylon and it's "daughter" (verse 1); we see many characteristics similar to the USA. Our nation certainly has occult practices associated with the construction of cities such as Washington DC (the monument and street patterns of downtown); the back of the dollar bill; and the more recent proliferation of the drug (pharmakia) and pornography industry which is now characteristic of online websites that infect the entire world. The "lady" of kingdoms mentioned in verse 5 certainly could be an analogy to the pagan origin of the Statue of Liberty in New York City; where many consider the city representing economic Babylon is. Our prosperity and military strength is unparalleled; and we are situated on many waters; as other verses in Jeremiah describe. It is true; of course that such activities in the occult also are present in other areas of the world; including the Mideast where it appears an ecumenical plan for one world religion is well underway. The patience of God in forestalling judgment over the roughly 60 million abortions our nation has performed certainly isn't unique either; although we pioneered the industry and sadly; upon examination it appears such practices were fairly widespread going well back into the 19th Century in America. Sudden destruction stated in verse 11 will bring the fire of hell of verse 14 which no one can deliver themselves from. We do have a Christian heritage as well; but this world is not our home. We do best to keep the mindset of being adopted children who are pilgrims in this life. It is when things seem comfortable that we are at greatest risk to become lukewarm and think things will always remain the same. Remember Revelation; He comes quickly.

Isaiah 47:7-9 these few versus are all about the Lord Jesus Christ and the day he would be killed by his wife, God married Israel as his wife, and they said in their heart I shall never be a widow, the reason is my husband can never die. But God said to the mother of harlots from Revelation 18:7 and through the prophet Isaiah two things will happen to you in one day. The day you kill your husband the Lord Jesus Christ, you shall become a widow, in that day you shall know the loss of Children, for their boast was that they could never have loss of children because God promised Abraham, his seed would be like the sand of the sea and the stars of heaven. Yet when the Lord Jesus died, in that died Israel stopped producing children for God through a genealogy, now you must be born again to become a child of God and Israel rejects that truth, therefore have they become a widow and childless, in one day.

American Babylon, Lady of the kingdoms, Idolatrous Lady Liberty reared up Image, of False freedom.

Bald Eagle bird as the symbol and emblem of the country who built her nest among the stars, of the star bangled banner flag they wave,

wandering stars of Hellywood, full of witchcraft and sorcery, watching over the Ramparts, surrounded by the sea walls, whose Pride hath decieved them. Who hath Fallen and become the habitation of dEVILS and every unclean and hateful BIRD. Her sins hath reached unto heaven and God hath remembered her inquities and will reward her double. The Sea shall come upon Babylon with the waves roaring and she shalt be burnt with Fire.

Paul writes in 1 Thess 2:14, 16 - For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, EVEN AS THEY HAVE OF THE JEWS: WHO BOTH KILLED THE LORD JESUS, and their OWN PROPHETS, and have persecuted us; and THEY PLEASE NOT GOD, and are contrary to all men: Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: FOR THE WRATH IS COME UPON THEM TO THE UTTERMOST.

If any can show me from the Bible alone where Rome or Islam killed the prophets please let me know. I

hate Rome and know she has murdered many. Islam has killed many but is not mystery babylon, neither the USSA

    Babylon killed the prophets

However Jerusalem is also built on 7 hills as is Moscow (communism) and Istanbul (islam) and Seattle (microsoft)

Matthew 23:34 - Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes:

and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:

Mat 23:35 - That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.

Mat 23:36 - Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.

Matthew 23:37 - O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate.

Rev 18:24 - And in her was found the blood of prophets, and of saints, and of all that were slain upon the earth.

babylon was responsible for the BLOOD of PROPHETS.

Jesus speaking Luke 13:33 - Nevertheless I must walk to day, and to morrow, and the day following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem.

Jesus is the 6th trumpet thief at the day of the Lord. Coming with his northern army (Russia/China-iron/clay) to lay America Babylon desolate. Rev 9:16 is not a standing army, but an army of munitions (200 mega ton missiles).

it amazes me that so many good Christians refuse to see certain things that are clear in the Bible because of doctrine or previous teachings, most folk believe 47 is Rome but they have to overlook many verses to make that work, like Babylon being the largest importer and exporter that is not Rome and "she is the hinder most of the end time nations, how do you miss that!!!

The sins and the sinners of the chapter above are on one side of the coin, and sins and sinners of 2020 is on the other side of the coin. Both yesteryear sinners and today sinners are identical twin. The different between the two is TIME. I thank GOD for SALVATION yesteryear and SALVATION today. My sins are forgiven through JESUS thereby my name is written in THE BOOK, so I shall be at THE MARRIAGE SUPPER OF THE LAMB. John 3:16-21 is free to all willing to accept John 3:16-21.

Biblefan: Babylon is Rome and her daughters are all the churches christian that are in apostasy and are following Romes RCC ways.
  • Biblefan on Isaiah 47 - 4 years ago
'daughter of babylon' hopefully is a symbolic generalization of any person that is wrapped up entirely in carnality and is a warning about the temporal nature of material things. What is sad is that people will use passages like this to justify their callousness to the suffering of others...'they deserve what they got, they are infidels, heathen, etc. etc'.

WOW! WOW! WOW! where applicable in this chapter, it appears those in this chapter received or were given the identical 'wrath of God' that will be given to the 'women on the the beast' in the book Revelation; it is like 8 months, 3 weeks, 6 days, 'ready or not' it is going to HAPPEN. To GOD be the Glory Honor and Praise cause HE IS better than GOOD cause we are give the blood of Jesus to save us

I believed even though God was wrath with Israel, he put them in the hands of the Chaldean because he saw good in them in spite of; but they became jealous of Israel and began to treat them unkind in very harsh ways as their wicked increased This treatment displeased the Lord as a result he send a warning to Babylonians of his intentions which result from their behaviors against him. He is God

Hi Irene; Do you understand what happened by the first carrying away of Israel by Assyria, and then of Jerusalem and Judah by Nebuchadnezzar? The kingdom of God through the house of David was taken away because they were unworthy; and so until the end of the times of the Gentiles are they, and we, subjected to the Nations. For Jesus' sake we accept and submit to the punishment till Jesus returns.

The 70 yrs. Babylonian captivity; God didn't begin to 'feel sorry' for His people and 'changed His mind' after - 70 yrs ?! are you kidding me?! God is not a man to change; I change not, therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed, Mal. 3:6. The 70 yrs. was His plan. The God I serve KNOWS what He is about!!! Thank God I can't change His mind! I want a GOD: not a marshmallow.

I THINK ISIAH WAS SPEAKING TO THE BABYLONIAN NATION TELLING THEM THAT THEY WERE GOING TO LOSE THEIR POWER IN THE WORLD. ISIAH TOLD THEM THAT GOD HAD ALLOWED HIS PEOPLE, THE JEWS, TO COME INTO CAPTIVITY TO THE BABYLON NATION TO PUNISH THEM BUT THAT HE WAS HAVNG A CHANGE OF HEART SEEING HOW BADLY THE BABYLONIANS TREATED HIS PEOPLE AND THEIR SUFFERING .HE WAS LETTING THE BABYLONIANS KNOW THAT REDEMPTION WAS NEAR FOR THE JEWISH PEOPLE FROM THE BONDS OF SERVITUDE TO THEM AND THAT THE BABYLONIAN GREATNESS AS A NATION WOULD BE GREATLY DIMINISHED .

  • Insight 777 on Isaiah 47 - 9 years ago
Verse 6 is describing that the prophets of the Bible that foretell of future events are yoked with this heavy burden of warning people of the end of days. Verse 7 tells that even forewarned in the past, the modern nations will believe it will not happen. VERSE 8, IS TALKING ABOUT NATIONS THAT HAVE A STRONG MILITARY AND BELIVE THEIR COUNTRY WILL NEVER BE OVERTAKEN. Verse 9 is saying that WW3 will start in a moment and is the result of acquiring advanced technology which I think is nuclear armament. Verse 12 is talking about nations that rely on their military to save them. Man has labored from the beginning to gain knowledge for protection. Perhaps verse 13 is the understanding of powers beyond this world, beyond what scientific knowledge can understand. This is a call for God to intervene and prevent the destruction of earth. Perhaps verse 14 is saying nuclear fire will consume the earth even if forewarned and all nations will retreat to their homelands with the knowledge that nuclear fallout kills everyone because it is in the air one breathes over the entire earth, Eden!
  • M. Reynholds on Isaiah 47 - 9 years ago
This chapter is about people who were born into such chaos that their hearts are very hurt. They have no choice but to lie to themselves with wisdom and knowledge and intellectualisation. All the while they will feel symptoms which we describe as mental illness depression, panic, and worse. Their hearts speak. They are wearied by the explanations they give themselves. They deny the horror within, and so conjour it in the world around them in order to see it more clearly, like Walter White. They will only find peace in intense self examination, self deprivation, self discipline, and finally the love of another, possibly Jesus Christ.
