61:2 Vengeance - It being necessary, that where God will deliver his people, he should take vengeance on their enemies; principally on the enemies of his church, and the spiritual ones chiefly, Satan, sin, and death.

    V.1 - " ... to proclaim liberty to the captives and the opening of prison to them that are bound ... " - is one and the same. Jesus (God) used 'doublespeak' quite a lot to make His meanings clearer. He knew His hearers were of varied understanding. 'Captives' are captives of sin, just as those in prison are; it's one and the same.

    Those who believe in God and do His will will be rewarded abundantly and enjoy all the fruits of salvation. Yet thosr who are not Holy and robs the Lord will earn accordingly. Holy Spirit must always be our gurdian in achieving the Lord's rightousness.

    my mother who passed away into the hands of our God back in 1996 got up one morning many many decades ago and told me that the lord wanted me to read isaiah 61 for it was for me. since all those years ago it has stuck with me and i have been led by the spirit to where i was needed, and now the light that in in those scriptures has come full circle and i understand it's complete meaning.
