These cities were possessed by the Reubenites and Gadites, whom Tiglath - pilneser carried into captivity, #1Chron 5:26|. These he mentions here, as he doth Ephraim in the next verse, because they were confederate with Syria against Judah. Afraid - Because the land shall be desolate, and destitute of men who might disturb them.

Thank You Father our Lord our Saviour, Christ Jesus, for Your Word. Amen. The prophecy of this chapter is happening today before our very eyes. Syria is destroyed, people are fleeing when allowed and the United Nations are rushing to the diplomacy table, appearing to seek peace. Arise LORD and have mercy on the people: all for Your glory. Let our days here be few. In Christ Jesus we live! Amen
  • This verse is related too this verse...are days on earth are like grass and wild flowers, we bloom then die.

This chapter seems to be revealing what is happening in Syria today. ISIS is causing a massive exodus of Syrians see chapter one - Damascus capital of Syria is taken away from being a city.

I am for sure that this Chapter is about the woe upon this earth. That we to need listen to God so that we will know what is about to come to us so we can be ready for him that he will fight for us If we are for his Son Jesus and have his blood apply to our heart.
