Verse 14~Jesus Christ is a superior High Priest because he will always be alive to plead in our behalf and he gave a sacrifice once for all time.
  • Bruce Wayne on Hebrews 4 - 5 years ago
"Servant of God" back up to verse 9. Rest used in verse 9 is from the Greek word 'sabbatismos' which means a sabbath rest. To the people of God there still remains a Sabbath. Stoning was under Moses law which Jesus fulfilled Luke 24:44. God commanded his 10 commandments Exo 20), added no more to them (deu 5:22) and will never alter what he himself spoke ( psalms 89:34). See also, Ecclesiastes 12:13
  • Eutychus on Hebrews 4 - 6 years ago
"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Even your thoughts, even your plans, your intentions, are known of God. You CANNOT hide even a thought from God. He knows all, reads all, hears all. He is all in all.
  • Servant of God on Hebrews 4 - 6 years ago
We must labor to enter into that rest? They did not enter, except Caleb and Joshua? Jesus, the High Priest did? God is the discerner! Who can enter lest God permits!?. To David, Today, if you hear God's word, harden not your heart. The seventh day, the day of rest, where one would die if he worked that day, by stoning! Yikes! So to sum up, the Rest to which God refers is entirely up to Him
  • JOSEPH KABA on Hebrews 4 - 6 years ago
No matter how difficult your life is remember that you have a great high priest who is Jesus.
And he's ready to change your negative to positive if you belive in him and have faith.
  • A disciple on Hebrews 4 - 6 years ago
AMEN Christina!!! How shall it be known that God hath wrought in us, without the effects? Can the grace of Jesus Christ be in my heart, and my manner of life, spirit and nature reflect His image and likeness? Should we then instead mislead ourselves by stage-playing and flattering talk and love songs to Jesus, and our heart not really be for Him? So faith without WORKS, DEEDS, ACTION, IS DEAD!
  • Christina Marlowe on Hebrews 4 - 6 years ago
By Belief, By Faith...AND By WORKS:

    James 2: 19-26
19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect
  • Servant of God on Hebrews 4 - 6 years ago
A seminal chapter from Paul, who immediately distinguishes us and them, unbelievers according to Paul and us, who are saved by belief. For God spoke thru Moses of Rest ig the seventh day. Also in Exodus entering the land if Milk and Honey, which is a similar metaphor. That rest is not watching tv from an easy chair, but somehow finding favor with God due to and unwavering belief and in God
  • Charles Bonsu on Hebrews 4 - 6 years ago
    Amen.
  • Clint on Hebrews 4 - 6 years ago
WE seam to miss what we are being taught in chapter 3 and 4 Do you obsearve the sabbath day or is this just another day? We must rest and it is a holy day unto GOD it looks like we take it as unbelief, also as he speaks to us we do not observe it because of our unbelive

Meditating God's words day and night all the desire of thine heart will be added. If we delight ourselves to Jesus first we will find his peace and love . Let us therfore come boldly into the throne of grace so that we may obtain mercy and find the grace to help in time of need. Thank you Jesus for your word praise you Jesus all the time amen
  • Rondalyn Brindley Jones on Hebrews 4 - 7 years ago
Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin..therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need
  • James on Hebrews 4 - 7 years ago
Thy word have I hidden in my heart that I might not sin against God! Hidden does not mean it's
not carried and told on the outside, whereas people can not tell whether you are living a lie because the word
is not exemplified as to how you live!
  • Gregory ledgister on Hebrews 4 - 7 years ago
I love the word of God
  • BSP on Hebrews 4 - 7 years ago
This verse shows that the Bible can have a very powerful effect on one's life. It can show the person who they really are in God's eyes and help them to make needed changes in order to please God more fully. We should read the Bible daily.

Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation and every city or House divided against itself shall not stand:

Come onto me and I will give you rest.
Jesus Christ is our rest. Amen
  • Lilian on Hebrews 4 - 7 years ago
God reminded us even we are busy to our daily life we must spend and dedicate our time to God and meditate God's words everyday then all the desire of thine heart will be added if we put God first into our life. God will take care of everything for his burden is light and thy yoke is easy. Only thru Jesus we can get Freedom abd Favor we just need to Praise him and trust his Will Amen
  • Bro. Davis on Hebrews 4 - 7 years ago
The Sabbath was the 7th day or last day in the week in which God created all things and rested on that day. It started before any Law was given or any commandment was given to Gods people. It was not a Ceremonial or moral Law, but a sanctified day of the Lord from the very beginning of the worlds existence. Taking rest in Jesus or resting in Jesus has nothing to do with the Sabbath day's rest.
  • Felicia on Hebrews 4 - 7 years ago
Yes the Sabbath is part of the 10 com'ds but the problem is that ever since Adam no man has been able to keep God's Law. Jesus is the only perfect man who could keep the Law of God and so when we receive Jesus the law is fulfilled in us. We must take God's promise and believe that Jesus is our rest. We can be in the presence of God at any time anywhere individually or collectively Jesus has made..
  • Jeanie on Hebrews 4 - 7 years ago
The Sabbath is within the 10 Commandments. Its a package deal. Its not a shadowy thing...does not foretell something is coming / going to happen. Not ceremonial. Written by God's own fingers and given through Moses to the children of Israel. Instituted before sin came to this world b4 Jews. The ordinaces /sacrificial system was ceremonial...given by God and written by Moses. Given after sin came.
