Harry; very good observations, sir! Between the things in this part of the letter about becoming sluggish and letting slip away even the fundamental beginnings of a saved life in Christ; in ch. 10:32-33 implies that their 'falling away' was likely due to being no longer willing to be persecuted for Jesus' sake (just like you wrote) which will happen just as soon as we lose sight of our First Love.
  • Harry Banks on Hebrews 3 - 6 years ago
The Jewish believers addressed in Hebrews were going through persecution and thus wanted to limit the Superiority of the Lord Jesus Christ comparing him to Moses who they honored as a prophet. They were missing the point that Jesus was not simply a prophet of God, but very God himself, it was appointed by God not only to live for Him but to suffer with Him proving true salvation through longevity
  • Irene123 on Hebrews 3 - 7 years ago
vs. 13,15 - The word TODAY written in capitals refers to this 'day' (time) of the age of Grace - when salvation in Acts 2: 38 is still available.
  • Irene123 on Hebrews 3 - 7 years ago
" ..... suffering is not joy ..... " Well, God's word says different, by none other authority than Paul. But then some discount Him because of what GOD gave him concerning women in Cor. Even men discount him because of this. Anyway, as to joy in suffering for Christ (after all, didn't He suffer for us?) Heb.12:2; Jas. 1:2; 2 Cor. 6:10; 2 Cor. 11:23-27, v. 30.
  • Seven Trumpets on Hebrews 3 - 7 years ago
Our house must be founded and built upon the Truth, if it is to stand firm to the end. We cannot start with a faulty foundation nor can we build with falsehood upon a good foundation but what has been begun in us in truth, must be all truth, or we will be rejected and cast away. This Word is given for a Light to follow, so that we may be saved: "If we continue steadfast unto the end!" implies a good and sure foundation, as well as a good and sure building of the structure, according to the same Spirit of Christ, as when we were first converted. "Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright for the end of that man is peace."
  • ERICA on Hebrews 3 - 7 years ago
Grace is a Gift-Faith follows as we make room for It.JOY is GOD'S STRENGTH. Suffering is not Joy. Being 'stedfast',to me, means we have to keep our supply of joyous strength daily refilled. Suffering, to me, is a lack of Joy:a gratitude list helps, praise for more, forgive yourself so you can go ahead a little lighter....ejune

  • Patricia Irvin on Hebrews 3 - 7 years ago
It is a Blessing to be a partaker of Christ. it is a Bless knowing that the ones who love Christ and not the world. will have a seat in the kingdom next to him and the father is going to reign forever. Praise The Lord.
  • Lilian on Hebrews 3 - 7 years ago
We must walk with Faith and not by sight. Faith comes only by HEARING THE WORD OF GOD. OBEDIENCE TO GOD'S WORDS ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN SACRIFICE. LETS GIVE THANKS TO THE BLOOD OF JESUS ONLY BY HIS BLOOD WE ARE SAVED AND FORGIVEN THRU JESUS WE HAVE LIFE IN ABUNDANCE OUR PRAYERS MUST BE PRAISING JESUS AND WORSHIP HIM FOR HE IS WORTHY AMEN HALLELUJAH TO THE LAMB
  • Dee on Hebrews 3 - 7 years ago
We must believe in Christ Jesus and know that he is "I am" and hold onto that belief until the end of days that the day of rest be fulfilled.
  • Larry dunn on Hebrews 3 - 7 years ago
insight 777 paul is talking about the profession of his faith (as in confessing his faith) not a profession as in job. he didn't chose ministry he was knocked done on the road to Damascus and chosen
  • Lee on Hebrews 3 - 7 years ago
(VS 8)we should BE our brother keeper, you can BE Nice TO people and they are not Nice TO you,try TO say something funny for them not offensive,SOME people may reword you bad for good, and also do all things TO make you not mad and angry,THAT those Dany's ar the temptation in this word,THAT we not harden are heart TO do good,we should BE Nice and still do good as our Lord Jesus, may God help us all.....amen
  • Alise on Hebrews 3 - 7 years ago
Harden not your hearts as in the day of provocation. We are being warned not to be like the people of Israel who witnessed the miracles of God time and time again and still murmured and complained against God. Because of their unbelief they did not enter into the promise land (his rest). I have witnessed the miracles of God in my own life and refuse to end up missing out on heaven (his rest).
  • BSP on Hebrews 3 - 7 years ago
Verse 13 says we should encourage one another daily as often as possible.

PARADOX. Rest assure our Heavenly Abba Dad and God Almighty Yahweh will surely bring His Holy and Matchless Word to pass as our Blessed Lord and Savior Christ Yeshua Jesus is Truly seated at His Right Hand now and forever more, Glory Amen
  • Emmanuel on Hebrews 3 - 7 years ago
    Insight 777 is absolutely mistaken.
Saint Paul is writing here about the consecration of an Apostle.
The Apostolic priesthood was after the order of Melchizedek which Jesus ordained and here profession refers to the ministry after the order of Melchizedek and not paid as 777 is referring to.
Paul is one Saint who also says that I bear in my body the marks of our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Insight 777 on Hebrews 3 - 8 years ago
Verse 1, Paul is calling Jesus an Apostle! Paul was alive when Jesus selected his 12 Apostles but Paul was not one of them. Jesus never mentioned Paul. Paul made religion a profession.
The definition of a profession is a paid occupation or an open but often false declaration or claim. Moses and his laws are not the house that Jesus built. Matthew 23:15
  • Jena on Hebrews 3:14 - 8 years ago
powerful, if we run well we will get a crown of life ,and we will ask Jesus to help to finish our course like PAUL
  • MockingBird on Hebrews 3:14 - 8 years ago
I have been made a partaker with Christ Not only do I have fellowship with Him : I will be partaking of all that He wrought for me at Calvary : I will also share in His sufferings and His Joy : With all that within me : I will hold fast to the beginning of my confidence stedfast unto the end : He that shall endure unto the end shall be saved !!! Praise God !!!
  • John madden on Hebrews 3:16 - 8 years ago
They heard god but rebelled anyway In unbelief.which provoked god to his wrath..
  • Herminia on Hebrews 3 - 8 years ago
The Jews are Jesus ' people and chosen by God. Jesus heard their cry from the bondage of suffering. He sent his servant Moses to deliver his people, but some murmured and complained against Jesus. They tempted and proved him, but Jesus showed them mercy. Then Jesus was grieved with some of them and they did not enter into his rest. Not only did they not make it to the promise land, they did not enter into his spiritual rest. They did not enter into heaven. This reminds me about Prov 1 and 2, daily Jesus reaches out to the world, but it will not answer him. He reaches out his arm daily, but they will not answer him. But he said, " When disaster comes to you, I will not answer you. I will turn my face from you, because when I called you would not answer me. When you cry out to me I will turn my face from you, and I will not hear you. " I hold on to the confidence and rejoicing I have in Hope of the Lord Jesus until he comes.
  • John Madden on Hebrews 3:12 - 8 years ago
brethern.....not unbelievers what a warning.how much more we are accountable.just as were the children of Israel,,The warnings and promises of god are Very true on both sides of faith and unbelief,,
  • Isabirye on Hebrews 3:2 - 9 years ago
Be faithfull to the teaching of God, And God will trust you and you show open vissions
  • Lilian on Hebrews 3 - 9 years ago
Our job is to believe in Jesus only and keep his commandments until rapture. Jesus himself is a word of God. He who ates the heavenly manna - the word of God will see the truth and the truth will set us free. Seek the Kingdom of God first and fix your eyes to Jesus and all things that we need will be added. We must be Born Again in Spirit and not in the flesh. Sometimes we forgot that we are the child of the Living God. We must thank Jesus for the precious blood he shed for us as this is the symbol of his love and mercy to us so that we will see and believe that there is God and we can have an eternal life in abundance. Jesus is faithful to his promises that goodness and mercy will always follow us. Keep learning God 's words and read the bible everyday as his words will gives us peace, joy, life, happiness and abundance. Jesus loves you
  • Robert on Hebrews 3:14 - 9 years ago
Being partakers of Christ from his birth not only His death, that if we have the faith as Christ Jesus we are assured to please God and enter into His presence for all eternity.
  • Daniel on Hebrews 3 - 9 years ago
As believers in Christ we have choose to follow Him . He is the builder and architect of the world. Christ our high priest unlike Moses an other apostles, Christ is our savior and our hope of salvation . To God be the glory
  • RNM HEB CHP 3------2 on Hebrews 3 - 9 years ago
God is a God of Love, mercy, forgiveness, and Grace, and the principles of Salvation are simple and sweet, and all encompassing, but there is one thing He requires in return and its no different than any human mom or dad, that 's OBEDIENCE, why is it you don 't think God is not worthy of it. This is where we cross the line of true Salvation and FALSE SALVATION! OBEDIENCE. The vast majority or people in the world push aside the Commandments of God saying they were done away with, nailed to the cross, especially the 4th commandment, that commands us to keep the 7th day holy, there has been a rebellion over this commandment since it was first given to the Israelite 's, and the rebellion will continue to go on until the Messiah comes in the clouds of Glory. Which could be any time now! Some of you have got it in your head that the Sabbath has been changed but that is a deception of Satan through his organized false church system. You have got to before its to late study Gods word to find the truth about it. GOD does not change, He has not changed the Sabbath day from the 7th day to the 1st day, Satan has done that, So either give your allegiance to GOD or Satan, that 's the choice. AMERN!!
  • Catherine O. Behome on Hebrews 3 - 9 years ago
