Discussion for Habakkuk 1

  • A disciple
"Therefore they sacrifice unto their net, and burn incense unto their drag; because by them their portion is fat, and their meat plenteous." Everything for which the devil slanders God and accuses His People of, he himself is the one doing those things! The children of the devil can only imagine to satisfy their lust for power and authority by slaughter and oppression; and this is their religion!

Verse 2: We may feel that God is not listening to our prayers, but we have the assurance that he hears our prayers and he will answer them in due time.

"Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceeds." (1:4) We seek the Lord with all our hearts, and endeavor to let our light shine. We pray for our leaders, and for the good to prevail. We help by our prayers, and by our obedience to walk in truth. But the world around us is set on "another" course!

Israel was told from the beginning, what would happen if they broke covenant with God; but they pushed Him, and pushed Him, with their defiance, and sinning, and whoring after the ways of the heathen, till there was no remedy. Jeremiah wrote, that if God had begun to punish the city which is called by His Name, and His own people; He would certainly also do the same to the nations for their sins.

Versus 5-11 God replies to Habakkuk. I am going to raise up a people worst then what you see now. God gives to him a description of these people: bitter, hasty,
thieves, dreadful. They have the ability to move very fast through land
