Hello Dylan Jayawardena I would like to make one small correction. Cain could have married a niece if Abel had any children before his death. However, the Bible does not mention that Abel had any children. It does not mention any lineage from Abel at all. Cain left from around his family and took his wife to the land of Nod, before Seth was born and had children of his own, Genesis 7 16 17 And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden. And Cain knew his wife and she conceived, and bare Enoch and he builded a city, and called the name of the city after the name of his son, Enoch . So therefore, one can only deduce that Cain married one of his sisters. Remember Cain had to have gotten his wife from somewhere and the only one producing children at that time that is recorded is Eve. This is not to say that there were no other male children born it s just that the main characters talked about was significant enough that God had them mentioned to teach us what happened.
  • Dylan Jayawardena on Genesis 4:17
Cain 's wife was either one of his nieces Genesis 5 7 or one of his siblings Genesis 5 4 Bible doesn 't give her name, but it was one of his siblings Genesis 5 4 And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years and he begat sons and daughters OR one of his nieces. Genesis 5 7 And Seth lived after he begat Enos eight hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters

George, I would like to add one more comment. God name is now Jesus Christ. This is the name that gives salvation. This is the name that saves us from our sins, Acts 4 12 "Neither is there salvation in any other for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved ". Even though people still want to use all of the names he had in the Old Testament, he is to be called Jesus Christ this is his name. This is the name that he was given at birth. Remember Jesus Christ is God manifested in the flesh, John 1 14 "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth ".

In the Old Testament God had many names. Notice the distinctiveness of LORD. That was God 's name in this time period. Actually, when God inspired Moses to write Genesis, he had Moses write his name as LORD and then God followed after in Chapter 2 4. This is the first recording of the many different names that God had besides God.

Hello George Hartwell You did not read my other comments I take it? We can deduce that Adam and Eve had girl children as well. Cain took a wife. It was not Eve. Therefore, Eve had to have other children besides Cain and Abel. Also we do not know if Abel had any children. We do not know how old any of them are during this time spoken of. We know that after Cain slew Abel, Eve had another son named Seth. Seth had Enos and this is when men began to call on the name of the Lord. These individuals are the main characters in the creation and the beginning of all human life on Earth, then one can only deduce that the other children were there and not mentioned. This is not saying that they were less important this is saying that the main events that centered on the beginning and upcoming events emphasis was placed on these main characters. However, this could be also a way of letting us know that there were more children born unto Adam and Eve, who may have included other male offspring as well this, is why Cain was worried. It is not impossible for one woman to have more than 50 children of her own. The Guinness Book of World Records The record for most children born to a single couple belongs to the first wife of Feodor Vassilyeva of Russia. In 27 pregnancies between 1725 and 1765 she gave birth to 16 pairs of twins, 7 sets of triplets, and 4 sets of quadruplets for a grand total of 69 children .

Why is He only called thr "Lord " in this chapter, and not "God? "
  • George Hartwell on Genesis 4
In verse 14, Cain is worried that everyone that finds him shall slay him. This seems a strange thing to worry about because there are only two other people alive at that time his parents. Am I mis understanding?

Part 2 of 2 This is a very true story. There was a preacher who committed adultery in the church with a married woman. This was not the first woman that he had in the church. This was the woman that broke the straw on the camel s back. He was lying on his death bed with cancer of the **. They prayed for him that God would raise him up. God told one minister, I will not raise him. She stopped praying. The preacher looked at her face and bowed his head. He died. There comes a point when God says enough is enough. God had enough of him taking advantage of his position and making a mockery out of the word of God.

Part 1 of 2 Hello James Mbuga Yes, but what happens when death comes? What happens when grace runs out for you? Hebrews 9 27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment What happens to sow a man soweth that shall he also reap? Cain was immediately punished for what he done. There is a point in time when God will say enough is enough and let punishment take its course. Romans 12 19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath for it is written, Vengeance is mine I will repay, saith the Lord . The beauty about the Grace Age is that we are allowed a chance to repent before it is too late. However, once your time comes, whether it is through death or reaping what you have sown, punishment, vengeance, or retribution for you have done comes. Can God forgive you after you realize your mistake, yes he can, the question is will he?
  • James Mbuga on Genesis 4:7
The Lord compliments the good done but goes ahead to present an option to exercise free will with consequences though.I still believe Cain like any of us experienced contention which ultimately makes God who He is,Forgiving Father.

In addition to my 3 part response, I stated earlier in writing that we can deduce that Eve had girls. Remember in the beginning there were only Adam and Eve, until they were kicked out of the Garden. This is when they started to be fruitful and multiply. How else was Cain and Seth able to get married and produce off spring? I do not know why women were not mention in the beginning to the Bible. I just would like to think that the main people that they wanted us to focus on were the ones that were written because they had something to do with the beginning of mankind. After the flood the world was populated by Noah s three sons. . In Genesis 9 18 19 And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth and Ham is the father of Canaan. These are the three sons of Noah and of them was the whole earth overspread .

Part 3 of 3 On faith I believe God s word. Because I have followed Acts 2 38 because of God s mercy and grace shown unto me, I know that what I am in is real and the truth is God s word. John 17 17 Sanctify them through thy truth thy word is truth . So I did not have to be there, I just believe that what I am reading, the understanding that I have, the lesson that I have learned under Holy Ghost filled men and women, the teaching that the Holy Ghost who was sent back in Jesus Christ name has given me, is real and factual.

Part 2 of 3 I stated that the scripture Genesis 4 1 And Adam knew Eve his wife and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD . Adam had already known his wife, not sexually but he knew of her existence because she came from his rib and he named her. So this word knew in Genesis 4 1 is referring to a sexual encounter. After this she bared him a son. If you read Genesis 4 25, the scripture reads again with the word knew and Eve had Seth. One can deduce that the way the scriptures are written that this is the chronological order in which things happened. Especially, because after something was created it gave stated, first day, second day, third day, etc. I suggest that you read the creation.

Part 1 of 3 Hello Sam I appreciate your questions, but you apparently did not read what I have written. No one has stated that Adam and Eve knew each other in a sexual way inside of the garden. They were in a state of innocence until they ate off of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. They did not know that they were even naked. God did not leave them in the garden he kicked them out after the curses were handed down. Now that man was aware of good and evil, God did not want him to eat off of the tree of Life and live forever, Genesis 3 22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever .
  • Sam on Genesis 4
Eve had girls? When? While still in the garden or after? If while in the garden, why would God not have told them both they "and " thier children must leave? If after, how soon after? It seems strange to me that after having a precise defining of time when creating for "6 " days, that when it comes to later writing there is no mention of time, no mention of days weeks months or years? How could you know anything is true here without having timelines? Secondly, to know ones wife biblically means to have sex with her correct? Does that mean every time they copulated it was called knew? Or would that be only the first time they had sex?

Hello Julio Thank you for the additional scripture. Hebrews 11 4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gift and by it he being dead yet speaketh . If I can say it like this, it was through his faith he offered a blood sacrifice being his first fruit, the firstling of his flock and the fat thereof, Genesis 4 4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering This could be another reason why it states that Cain did not do his offering well. In the end, Abel did it right and Cain did not do it well.
  • Julio on Genesis 4
I believe that the offering given by cain was not given in faith as abels was. Hebrews says that abels offering pleased God because it was given with faith.

Hello Chris Simply put, seeming on how there was only Adam and Eve in the beginning then we must deduce that Eve had girl children as well. She could have been a sister or a granddaughter. We do not know how old Cain was when he slew Abel. We do not know if Abel had any children before he died. We can only deduce that Abel did not have any children because his lineage is never mentioned anywhere in the Word of God. It is not stated but this is the conclusion. Now this is not saying that everyone can go out and marry their sister or closest relatives. God is the only one who can change the blood of anyone. Even though this was allowed under this time it is not allowed now, because in many cases the dangers of certain diseases and birth defects are just to great. We can deduce that after God saw enough of the world population he then laid down the law concerning marriage and family, Leviticus Chapter 18.
  • Chris on Genesis 4
Would someone please explain where Cain 's wife came from?
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Genesis 4
Part 2 of 2 I have read were some scholars saying that an offering is thought to be both grain and animal. Some scholars say a sacrifice is just animal and that it is burnt. So if we were to conclude with this, then it would be that Cain did not give his first fruits. His offering to God was not done well. If you recall the scripture, God further stated that ..and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. What happened after God made this statement? Cain sinned. He killed his brother Abel.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Genesis 4
Part 1 of 2 Clarification Teejay, I did not mean for anyone to think that I was slapping Cain in the face for his offering. In a response I made to Dennis 10 06 2014, 10 08, I had already stated that the only time that I have read where a cereal or vegetable offering was made was with a meat offer. Is cereal a grain or no? When I wrote sacrifice I was thinking about how the animal had to sacrifice its life because Adam and Eve had sinned and now knew that they were naked.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Genesis 4
Not only were the clean beast for offering or sacrifice but for the procreation of that species.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Genesis 4
Also some scholars say that the number of clean beasts brought into the Ark when God said to bring 7 means 7 pairs of clean beasts. Others say that God was saying 14 pairs. I do not know how often the offerings were made to God, but I know the purpose of the clean beasts were to make an offering unto Him. So whether you believe 7 of clean beasts, or 7 pairs of clean beasts, or 14 clean beasts one of those animals if not more were to be made into an offering unto God.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Genesis 4
Teejay one last comment in conjunction to my other responses In the end, apparently Cain either did not give his first fruit of the ground or it was not a blood sacrifice, either way he did not do it well, Genesis 4 7.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Genesis 4
Teejay to add to my three part response that I submitted, could Cain have not asked his brother for a lamb to offer on his behalf if he truly wanted to? Not everyone in the Jewish culture were sheep herders. I am quite sure that someone had to purchase a lamb from someone to make their offering unto the Lord. Also when Abraham was told to offer up his son Isaac to God, God saw his willingness and obedience to his word, God provided a Ram in the bush as a substitute. This was still a blood sacrifice before the Law. This is why I said someone had to have taught this from the beginning of what God wanted as a sacrifice or offering.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Genesis 4
Part 3 of 3 So if God wanted fruit or any other substance for an offering he would have had Noah also do it I would think. The bottom line is that Cain was not begotten by Satan. God did not accept his offering because he was begotten by Satan. If Cain was begotten by Satan then it would have been written. The truth is that Adam knew Eve, sexually, and begot Cain.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Genesis 4
Part 2 of 3 The Law of sacrifice may not have been in place, but the act of offering was already established. As I stated before it does not say that God killed an animal to make Adam and Eve their clothes made of skin, but when it states coats of skin, the only other creatures besides humans that have skin is animals. Then when you further read where after they left the Ark how Noah built an altar you know that it was a blood offering that he would offer to God. Genesis 7 2 Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female . The seventh beast of the clean beasts was to be the burnt offering at the altar that Noah built. Genesis 8 20 And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar . God had male and female to procreate the species the seventh one was for an offering. This took place before the Law.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Genesis 4
Part 1 of 3 Hello Teejay Sacrifice is the act of offering the life of a person or animal, or some object in propitiation of or homage to a deity. This is what Abel and Cain did. Some scholars say because his offering was not his first fruits this is why God did not except his offering. Think about it like this, God must have told them how to make an offering. Perhaps Adam and Eve instructed them on how to make a sacrifice or an offering. However, the instructions came Cain did not offer up a proper offering unto the Lord. As you read Genesis 4 6 And the LORD said unto Cain, Why are thou wroth? And why is they countenance fallen? If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? And if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door,. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. Now what stood out to me was that God said If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? Apparently Cain did not do it correctly.
  • Teejay on Genesis 4
Evangelist chautana the reason why God did not accept Cain 's offering had nothing to do with it being fruits. This was an offering different from a sacrifice. The bible says to bring the first fruits of your labour to the Lord, this can be anything. Cain was a farmer he brought his produce as an offering not a sacrifice, the bible makes a point of mentioning that Abel brought 'the firstling of his lambs and the fat theirof '. As it does not say the same of Cain he most likely did not give his first produce. Furthermore God had not yet put in the law of sacrifice so it does not apply here. Paul say if it were not for the law there would not be sin. So Cain could not have sinned that way as the law was not yet set. And as I said before this was an offering not a sacrifice and if it was a sin offering the bible would have said so. The bible also talks of grain offerings and really he would be an unworthy God if he rejected what Cain worked hard for on the grounds that it wasn 't a lamb. Pretty much a slap in the face and saying you should have been a herder.

Hello Ryan, I do not know why Part 2 of 2 did not come out but here it is again. There are many scriptures that talk about the heavens. Deuteronomy 10 14 1 King 8 27 Psalms 57 5 Psalms 115 3 Psalms 115 16 The heaven, even the heavens are the LORD S but the earth hath he given to the children of men Zechariah 6 5. In Matthew 3 16. In this scripture the heavens open and the spirit of the Lord descended like a dove. The Lord stated that the heaven is his throne and the Earth is his footstool in Isaiah 66 1 St. Matthew 5 35 Acts 7 49. We know that this heaven and this earth will burn up in the end and will be replaced with a new heaven and new earth. 2 Peter 3 10 2 Peter 3 12 Revelation 21 1. Exactly how many heavens there are I do not know but I do believe that there is more than one Isaiah 42 5 states Thus saith God the Lord, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein
