Care to learn true holiness hearken here Isa9:5 Dan 9:7 let me and GOD set you free !!!!!!! From their confusion and Jesus's Mark 10:18 and John 13:13 he says none is good (lies) proof Gen 6:9 . Job 1:1.6.8.12 also note Job1:6 sons of GOD

There is only one God. However, God is a Triune God, i.e. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. All three make up one God, and all three are God. It's sort of like water can have three forms, solid (Ice), liquid (water), and Gas (Vapor). Also, where did Jesus say that tongues is the evidence of the born again experience, and where did He say it was necessary?

Sharon may I suggest that you go to Jewish sites and see exactly what most who claim to be Jews really believe.

The great majority follow a book called the Talmud, which means LEARNING. The exact name is the BABYLONIAN TALMUD which means Babylonian learning. it is the opinions of Rabbis which Jesus condemned as their traditions. These Jews called it the oral traditions of the elders.

Mark 7:9 And he (Jesus) said unto them, Full well ye (Jews) reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

Mark 7:13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.

Chabad Lubavitch Jews follow Kabbalah, which they call the soul of Judaism, which is about mystical things. These are the ones with the black suits and hats and they wear red strings around their wrists to ward of evil spirits.

I have read their writings in their libraries, not just off something on the internet. They blaspheme Jesus.

The Jewish people believe in only ONE GOD. Find out who changed the belief in one GOD and after the church was established on the day of Pentecost, who changed the way to be baptized? One is immersed, buried with HIM in baptism in the name of JESUS. JESUS SAID to baptize in the NAME (singular) of the father, the son and the Holy Ghost. Not only that those are not names only titles. What is the name given to men where by we must be saved? Who changed scripture to create their global church as they were conquering nations. JESUS STATED " Search the scriptures for in them ye think he have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me". I am come in my Father's name and ye receive me not. That name was JESUS, (Alpha and Omega, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, EMANUEL. ALMIGHTY GOD ROBED HIMSELF IN FLESH, that Flesh was crucified but GOD RAISED THAT FLESH, ( not a second person in the godhead) for in HIM, JESUS dwells ALL THE FULLNESS OF THE GODHEAD BODILY. SEARCH

Wayne, 1 Samuel 31 speaks of the deadly arrow strike that King Saul encountered & his command to his armour-bearer to end his life with a sword. The armour-bearer also then fell on his sword probably for what he had done to the king & also to the horror that may come to him by the approaching Philistines. When the enemy came upon the dead bodies, they beheaded Saul, & the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead came to retrieve his body & the others, took them back to Jabesh and burned (cremated) them there. However, this is the only clear instance of this happening. Usually, cremation was practised by the heathen & certainly uncommon among Israel. In Deut 21:23, the burying of the dead is seen & is common practice. For Christians today, cremation remains an option based on personal belief & high costs of burial, but for those who strongly believe in burial (& I support this), it is wise to put funds aside to meet that future need.
  • Mishael - In Reply on Genesis 32 - 4 years ago
There's a scripture somewhere that says the seas or oceans will give up their dead and I'm sure anyone who was burned up by disaster or cremation will be taken up too. I'll try to find it. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust (said at funerals). All Christians dead or alive will be raptured :)

Only ONE GOD, the great I AM . Tongues is the evidence of the born again experience Jesus stated was necessary. GOD is a Spirit and he took on the form of man to die for our sins and give humanity to access of having HIS SPIRIT inside us. Man created the words Trinity. Jews became ver upset when JESUS SAID " Before Abraham was I AM". Also when asked show us the father, HE SAID " If you have seen me you have seen the Father. I could go on and on but the fact that the HOLY GHOST EXPERIENCE IS FOR ALL. It is happening daily as souls cry out to HIM. Take care.

Is cremation mentioned in the Bible ?

Thank you Bob. I just want to clarify that my previous reply was to Sharron who replied to my original comment. I have no wish to affect anyone. I merely posted my opinion as to who Jacob (Israel) wrestled with. Then I was attacked by Sharron because of MY belief. This is why we have so much trouble in this world today. She is entitled to her opinion and it's not necessary for her to defend it. It is hers and hers alone. If she is to change her opinion she will have to do it on her own by reading the scriptures and praying that the truth be revealed to her. There is no need for you to defend me nor defend the position of the Trinity. It speaks for itself. I will no longer make comments as this only causes discourse rather than thoughtful discussion.

SHARRON: your take on the Godhead is total error. You base what you think on the day of Pentecost.

I'm not going to belabor with this. In Genesis 1:26 God said LET US. He said it in Genesis 11:7..LET US, and again in Genesis 3:22. That was the Father, the Word (Jesus before incarnation) and God the Holy Spirit. They were talking together. Again, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit (who is the Spirit of Christ). The Trinity or, the Triune Godhead. Same thing. Long ago someone said to me, The Father willed it, the Son spoke it and the Holy Spirit performed it.

    God created

    God moved

    God said

    God saw

    God divided

    God made

    God set them

    God blessed

    God formed

    God planted

    God to grow

    God took the man

    God commanded

    God caused

    God Walking in the garden

    God clothed them

    God sent

    God drove out

God is involved in every facet of our lives. Adam & Eve did wrong; in his mercy God made them clothing! It's not about tongues. It's about the GOSPEL of Jesus.

Smitty, the Scripture is unclear who this 'man' was, who wrestled with Jacob. You will need to make your own judgement as you pray for clarity. What we do know, it wasn't just a man, as he renamed Jacob to Israel = "as a prince hast thou power with God & with men, & hast prevailed". And this man refused to give Jacob his name, as well. And Jacob called that area, Peniel = "I have seen God face to face & my life is preserved". So if it was an Angel of the LORD, it could have been Michael. If it was God's Word, then we have another view of the pre-incarnate Christ (a Christophany). See these other references of such manifestations: Gen 18:1 ff; Gen 19:1; Dan 3:19-26. So, many believe that Jesus, the Word of God, was manifested in these pre-incarnate appearances, or it might have been an Angel of the LORD. Whoever it was, the Words spoken were from God & the Work done was an act of God. However, I do believe in the Trinity, i.e. Col 2:9, Godhead = 3 persons that shows God's Fulness.

That is why we have freedom of religion in this country. You have every right to your interpretation to the scriptures.

However, my bubble remains intact. My faith is mine and is not subject to your interpretation. I have no desire to sway your opinion. You on the other hand seem unable to keep from forcing you own on others.

The Bible ALONE teaches man has a body and a soul and a spirit = 3 parts = 1 man

Genesis 1:26 - And God said, Let US make man in our image, after OUR likeness

Genesis 1:27 - So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Genesis 9:6 - Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.

1 Thess 5:23 - And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Paul says spirit and soul and body)

Isaiah 10:18 - And shall consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful field, both soul and body: and they shall be as when a standardbearer fainteth. (Body and Soul different)

Isaiah 26:9 - With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within...

So IF one man is Body, Soul and Spirit which is 3 parts and God made man in HIS IMAGE

How many parts is God? 3?

Sorry to pop you theological bubble. There is not a trinity. HERE OH ISREAL THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD. GOD creator became flesh, the flesh was, given a name above every name, JESUS, was crucified rose again, assessed into heaven and sent HIS SPIRIT back for us to receive on the day of Pentecost. And they were gathered together tarrying and HIS SPIRIT (GOD HIMSELF) fell and they spoke in tongues they did not know, but individuals heard their tongue being spoken. Peter stood up and used the keys given him in the 38th verse of the 2 chapter of the book of Acts. This was GOD giving man POWER OF HIS SPIRIT. HIS HOLY SPIRIT. There is only ONE GOD, not three persons , for in JESUS DWELLETH THE FULLNESS OF THE GODHEAD BODILY. SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES AND PRAY.

I understand the wrestling in prayer, but even after his hip was out & Jacob still not leaving well enough alone, why did he persists in demanding a blessing?
  • -CC - In Reply on Genesis 32 - 4 years ago
Jacob was not innocent. He tricked Esau out of his birthright and then stole his father's blessing with the help of his mother.
  • Smitty on Genesis 32 - 4 years ago
The Angel that wrestled with Jacob was the Second in the Trinity. The one who would become God in the flesh. Jesus.

24 And Jacob was left alone and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day. 25 And when he angel saw that he prevailed not against him Jacob , he touched the hollow of his Jacobs thigh and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. 26 And he angel said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.

1 And Jacob went on his way, and the angels of God met him. And, and nothing happened here. Later on he wrested with a angel of God. Some say it was Jesus and some say it was God. But I think it was a angel of God. Surely Jacob could not win against God or Jesus.

Jacob saw God's face in darkness,The sun did not rise until he crossed penuel as stated in verse 31.

Verse 18~Jacob tried to soften the heart of Esau. Jacob was innocent but he wanted peace so he was willing to make sacrifices.
  • Leigh on Genesis 32 - 5 years ago
@Ren I was wondering the same thing. God cannot lie but there are times when He has repented or changed His mind. I think that Jacob was ecstatic that he had seen the face of God and lived to tell about it.
  • Ren on Genesis 32 - 6 years ago
@Lu2677 then how do you explain Exodus 33:20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live. God does not lie this is what he spoke to Moses.
  • BSP on Genesis 32 - 6 years ago
Verse 26: Jacob was willing to fight for God's blessing. We must be willing to do the same.
  • Lu2677 on Genesis 32 - 6 years ago
Irene,V.30"And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved."God has a face.V24"and there wrestled a man with him" In V26,God told Jacob to let him go,Jacob said no, lest you bless me. You say God does not have a body, that God did not make man in the image of God's body.Jacob saw his face, wrestled, with him and won.You lead people from truth.
