Hello Clymer. As you have probably read starting from John 3:1, Jesus was speaking to Nicodemus, a Pharisee, a Jewish religious leader. Firstly, Jesus had explained to him a Truth that he hadn't heard of before & even now, could grasp: that of a spiritual re-birth. So then Nicodemus asks Jesus: "How can these things be?" To which Jesus basically tells him, that even a master of Israel (i.e. one like Nicodemus who was well studied in the Scriptures & the Law) cannot know the things that someone who has a personal experience of such knowledge knows & brings. Nicodemus probably prided himself with scriptural knowledge, but here is Jesus standing before Him Who could illuminate his mind & heart with heavenly things.

And so, Jesus goes on to say in verse 13, 'no one from Earth has ever gone up to Heaven & then returned to bring you such knowledge - it has only been Jesus (the Son of Man now) Who was already in Heaven & now come down to bring such glorious news' (I've transliterated this verse liberally, so you can get a better understanding). So, did Jesus go up from Earth to Heaven & learn God's Truths & then bring them to Earth? Definately, NO. Jesus was already there, being God's Word, given humanity & sent to Earth to bring God's Word & to give His Life for all ( John 1:1-14). So Nicodemus was in a special position now to hear directly this Word of God from Jesus the Son of God, a Word that he could never dig up from the reading of the Old Testament Scriptures, but had to receive it directly from Jesus Who was in Heaven.

And this Nicodemus was one who attended to the dead Body of Jesus by bringing embalming spices for His burial ( John 19:39,40). We can't be sure about Nicodemus' salvation, but this act of love & sorrow certainly leads one to believe that this man's heart was changed & he was prepared to risk his reputation & life for his loving act - a love for the heavenly Master Who told him all he ever wanted to know.

    Hello Terry,

Eve explained to Satan the serpent

that God told her you shall not eat.

    Genesis 3:1,3

    Hope this helps

According to Genesis 3:22-24, I would say that God spoke to neither of them about not eating from the Tree of Life. Because they disobeyed God by eating from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good & Evil, God drove them out of Eden & set guards against the Tree of Life.

Genesis 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

Since the NKJV does not give all the honor to God that He deserves by capitalizing personal pronouns referring to God, I hereby withdraw my offer to be a volunteer for your organization.

    Respectfully, Paul Coupland

What factor did you add to your birth into this world? Nothing. You had nothing to do with being born the first time. Therefore, you can have nothing to do with being born again. Being Born again comes from above from God. God is Sovereign. Christ opens your spirit to receive His Holy Spirit through a process of sanctification. You are elected by God from before you were ever born. You come to Christ through God. There are no surprises to Him. When you are born again, you begin slowly and steadily to be framed by God in the likeness of His Son Jesus. You desire God's Word, You desire God's will, You are deeply shamed by your past thoughts, actions and words. You seek God's Will and desire to commit to it. You come to understand (though not perfectly) Christ's Righteous covering of your unrighteousness. And HE IS FAITHFUL, BELIEVE IT! He removes your sin from Him as far as the East is from the West. ( PSALM 103:12) Now, yes we still carry the sinful body with us and we still do sin from time to time, but we know more fully of Christ's Righteousness and our faith is strongly rooted in asking His Will to become an heir of God in Heaven through the work of The Lord Jesus Christ. Being Born Again, weeds out desires for self & caring about the eternity of others. First your loved ones, then all others. You no longer hate others, but hate sin. And you don't want anyone to end up in hell. You seek to learn forgiveness, for self and for others, even those you do not know. You pray for protection from temptations within your inner man to not fall, to stay under the covert of Christ's wing. And you ask this for others as well. You pray The Holy Spirit to take thoughts of envy, jealousy, bitterness, anger, lust and hatred from you. And in every situation you encounter, your thoughts are to immediately turn to God. In thought and prayer..YOU TURN TO CHRIST FIRST. That's my experience with it.

God is Sovereign. Adam could eat of the Tree of Life and live forever, why didn't he? Adam was The Keeper of The Entire Garden and knew full well what God said of The Tree of Good and Evil. Eve ate, but why did Adam? Why did he forgoe his role as The Keeper of The Garden and everything in it and eat with Eve? Why didn't Adam call upon God when Eve brought him the fruit thereof? Why did Adam fall into sin if there was no knowledge by him of Evil? My answers: God is Sovereign.

Did God make angels or other "critters" before the first days 1-6? Where is that explained?
  • Adam - In Reply on Genesis 2 - 2 years ago
    Dear Leovince,

Your comment struck me as interesting, because you started this discussion by you asking a question speculating where Cain's wife came from. But here it seems you're now being critical of people for trying to help by answering your question- which you now call speculation. Your original question is speculative. God bless.
  • Michael - In Reply on Genesis 2 - 2 years ago
The Bible does not speculate where Cain got his wife.

The Bible says that Adam and Eve had many children.

Genesis 5:4 "And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat SONS AND DAUGHTERS:"

Obviously, one of those daughters eventually met up with Cain and they got married. God permitted that at the beginning of creation and since man was still close to Adamic perfection, this did not cause birth abnormalities. It is the only way that humans, at the beginning, would have been able to procreate - they had to marry their bother or sister.

In fact, we do the very same thing today, really. We are 1 large human family and we all have Adam as our father. When we marry a fellow human being, we are really marrying our brother or sister.

    Kindly.

    Good day.

You are unfortunately speculating something, which with all due respect, I beg to disagree as the Bible does not specify that Adam and Eve bore daughters before Seth came along. Remember the basic principle in a law. "If it does not specify, we ought not to specify and therefore does not allow us to speculate or even guess unless it is implicit. Does it make sense or not? Look at the first creation in Genesis Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 and see the implication between these two creation scenarios. What does the word say, about the condition of the environment then compared in Chapter 2? How the peculiarities of how the order of living things were created then? How do we explain those discrepancies? Thanks, for your interest to my curiosity. Take care!

    2 Corinthians 11:3

"But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ."

Adam and Eve were living souls.

    Leovince.

Genesis 3:20. And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the ""MOTHER OF ALL LIVING.""

It's apparent Cain wife was either his sister or niece.

God told Adam and Eve to be fruitful and MULTIPLY.

Which seems to imply the world wasn't multiplied.

Adam and Eve probably had a thousand kids Men and Women..

Genesis 4:16-17. And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.

And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.

The scripture doesn't say Cain took a wife "from" Nod. It says he went out from the presence of the Lord and dwelt in the land of Nod, Adam and Eve could have been 100's of years old and their children children had kids, Perhaps he may have been married before he slew Abel and he brought over a wife to Nod.

I can go on and on!

You see we can speculate and go on and on about what we don't know but that don't change what we do know.

And that's Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the ""MOTHER OF ALL LIVING.""

    God bless.

It appears to me that there were two creation scenarios: In Chapter 1 and Chapter 2. Could this explain that Cain took a wife from the first creation in Chapter 1 in the land of Nod?
  • A Prayer of ReDedication on Genesis 2 - 3 years ago
    Rededication Prayer

Just pray this prayer to return to your first Love:

Lord, after what I've read today, I don't want to allow any spirit of compromise in my life!

I now understand that the doctrine of the Nicolaitans is compromise with the world. Lord, I don't want to live with one foot in the church and another foot in the world. I want to break free completely from the world and its influence so I can give myself completely to Your cause!

I want to be holy, to live in a way that pleases You, and to experience Your power in my life. Today I am renewing my commitment to You all over again! I turn from the world, and I am running to You!

I pray this in Jesus' name!

what does it mean to be born again
  • William Dando - In Reply on Genesis 2 - 3 years ago
Your question is framed because of your concept of time. Time is simply your awareness of a point in eternity. God lives in eternity where you have no concept to describe it. Like trying to imagine a color not found in a rainbow. God says he has always and will always be. Only by faith can this be understood.
  • Adam - In Reply on Genesis 2 - 3 years ago
This is an interesting question, because the answer is that God has always existed, but that answer doesn't seem satisfactory to atheists. However atheists have the same question in their own religion, because they believe the universe created itself. If this were true, who then created the universe?

Has it been 2 hours yet? Greetings!

"Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God" Psalms 90:2 This verse shows us that God has no beginning nor ending.

The fact that souls continually reach out to God with a desire to be in harmony with its maker is also a wonder. Psalms 42:1-2 says "As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God? There seems to be in mankind an awareness of a greater power than is found in humanity or even our very selves. The soul must be set free in this awareness by the knowledge of the True God or it may find itself lost in idolatry.

Exodus 3:4 is where Moses wanted to know the name of God and God answered him saying, "I Am That I Am". God's existence is in Himself.

    For our meditation.

    :)

Isaiah 40:28 (KJV) Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that THE EVERLASTING GOD, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

Isaiah 43:13 (KJV) Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?

Psalms 90:2 (KJV) Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.
