Chapter 1 of Genesis God talks about making man in his own image and chapter two he forms man from the dust of the ground and breaths the breath of life and he became a living soul. What I want to know is was man made in chapter 1 or chapter 2 of Genesis
  • Robert smith on Genesis 2 - 5 years ago
it is what it is an we should take it at face value because it came from GOD HIMSELF

16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

4 And the serpent said until the woman, Ye shall not surely die.

Dear Fran, may you please read
Verse 22 And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
    and Verse 23
And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man
  • Fran on Genesis 2 - 5 years ago
I like the fact, God crested two gender , male and female . Not man ,man or woman ,woman nor,man and breast, but man and woman... How geat God is and what a clear and easy way to explain two gender, male and female.

Hebrew 4:3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

Knowledge of good and evil came from a tree. Man disobeyed God's word to get the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil into their bodies. Jesus is life, he is the
    bread of life
  • Lyle Lee on Genesis 2 - 5 years ago
God rested; this rest was not for mankind but only for God alone during the entire book of Genesis, three covenants were given during the first twenty-five hundred years but man was never told to rest, thus the rest is not the Sabbath at all.
  • DOROTHY SUOBO on Genesis 2 - 5 years ago
THE FIRST SABBATH, IN WHICH GOD RESTED FROM ALL THAT HE HAS CREATED. THAT REST WAS SOME SORT OF FULFILLMENT, SATISFACTION ETC. LOOKING FORWARD TO HAVING A SWEET COMMUNION, FELLOWSHIP WITH THE MAN AND THE JOY OF ACCOMPLISHMENT OF THE ENTIRE CREATION PROCESS. HOLDING IT SO DEAR TO HIS HEART. THIS AWESOME

    YOU, LORD!

Was Moses reporting the creation of man and woman in more detail after outlining creation or was he reporting the creation of a special sort of "man" (Adam and Eve) separate and apart from his original creation? There is evidence later in genesis that the creation of Adam and Eve was separate and apart from His original creation of other men: sons of God (of Adam) vs. Daughters of men not of Adam.

V 21 the coats of skins were from animals God himself slew. They were the first sacrifice with death and spilling of blood on the new earth. They were the first sacrafice for the covering of the First sin.
  • Chavah on Genesis 2 - 5 years ago
I like chapter 2 but the most important verse to me is 24 because that's when God established the law of marriage
  • Charles on Genesis 2 - 5 years ago
Kathy: Could it be that the skin stood for imparted righteousness
And the promise in Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman...
    stood for the imputed righteousness?
  • Debbie Bloodworth on Genesis 2 - 5 years ago

  • REDEMPTA MUENI on Genesis 2 - 5 years ago
Gen 2: 17 "But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely DIE." This is the reason why Jesus had to die in order for us to regain the life we lost at the garden of Eden.
Gen 2: 19"...and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof." God given our words power so let speak wisely.
  • Kathy on Genesis 2 - 5 years ago
I was awe struck this week and greatly comforted by the fact that God in His infininite love and mercy towards man, still makes a coat for him and covers them. that what a loving father does for his children. Loves them even in disobedience. I cried.
  • Gen on Genesis 2 - 5 years ago
I think of the fruit as not an actual fruit, but a fruitful knowledge of the good and bad of the world. It would be easier to picture the knowledge as an actual object, so they chose the fruit. And with eating that fruit, you welcome the evil into your body and soul.
  • Wolfen244 on Genesis 2 - 5 years ago
Gen 2:7 shows when man receives his immortal soul. Interesting huh?

Verse 2~God rested from his work of creating. He continues to work to sustain us and help us day to day.

Satin told them. And, no fruit was involved.
  • Quansto on Genesis 2 - 5 years ago
Hi Carol the fruit was unknown the Bible doesn’t say but the whole point was not the contents of the fruit that opened their eyes it was when they sinned for the first time. They realize they had went against gods universal sovereignty and tasted sin
  • A disciple on Genesis 2 - 5 years ago
"But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." God named it thus because that's what it was. What happened when they ate from it? "Their eyes were opened and they knew that they were naked." So God asked, "Who told you that you are naked? Have you eaten of the tree that I commanded you not to eat?" THINK
  • Bruce on Genesis 2 - 5 years ago
Carol: The Fruit is the sin, from the act of disobedience that Satan has planted into Eve. A seed of Temptation that germinated into full-blown disobedience which caused The Fruit of sin. Our bloodline is Tainted we all need a Savior. Without The Blood of The Lamb we are doomed for all Eternity.
  • Mark on Genesis 2 - 5 years ago
Carol, the fruit is unknown. The Bible does not tell us. It was a fruit that is something that could be eaten. For what would we do if we knew it was some certain fruit? Not ever eat it again? We know by many other Scriptures that it was the devil satan himself NOT as you describe "the consciousness of the mortal human mankind."
  • A disciple on Genesis 2 - 5 years ago
Carol (cont.); We know that there are some very dangerous chemicals in some plants and trees, that have the power to alter one's mind and consciousness, and opens one up to very dark and evil spirits. The tree of knowledge of good and evil I think was something in that direction. God has made everything very good; but has also put Laws around all that He has made, what they're for, and what not!
  • A disciple on Genesis 2 - 5 years ago
Hi Carol; What is it about the tree of the knowledge of good and evil? I think it must (in a certain sense) be a real chemical and biological element in it like other poisonous plants; but also something much more that God knows is in it, that remains a mystery, for the purpose of proving the obedient character: in other words; He said, Thou shalt not eat of it, for in eating of it you will die.
  • Carol on Genesis 2 - 5 years ago
There is the tree of Life. And the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. My question is: what does the tree of knowledge of good and evil "contain" ? what is its fruit?? Don't tell me the 🍎 Apple. Also the serpent tempted Eve to eat it. To me it seems that the "serpent" often referred to as satan or the devil is the consciousness of the mortalhuman mankind. Please share with me
  • Lee on Genesis 2 - 5 years ago
