Proverbs 19:2 Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth. We need to know God's word. God told Adam do not eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil because Adam didn't need this knowledge. God wants us to exercise our free will to do his will like Jesus Christ did. What we need is to obey God.
  • Adam on Genesis 2 - 4 years ago
Adam and Eve had a perfect life. What a shame that you can have absolute perfection and give into sin and do evil. Sad human nature.
  • Adam - In Reply on Genesis 2 - 4 years ago
That's a good point. God wants us to do good and doesn't tempt us Himself, but allows us to give in to our own desires or through Satan's temptation.

But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die Confidence died and fear come in. Romans 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness.

And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. I know that Adam was one day old when God made him but I wonder how old did his body look and how his mind worked. Surely not like a one day old. One thing is for sure, he acted like a one year old when he disobeyed God. Eve also.

James 1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

As I understand it, God being outside of time, knew Adam would fall, but also knew from the Creation of the world that He would provide a Redeemer; not only to redeem the human race but to show His mercy to rest of His creation(ie. Angels, etc.). Just as you cannot learn unconditional love if everyone meets your conditions, man would not have free will if there was no other choice but obedience.

Why did God tempt Adam to begin with in Verse 17? "But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." That is like putting a naked woman in front of an 18 yr old virgin. I Would think God would want Adam to know about good vs evil. Odd trap to set to see if one will follow commands.

Adam most likely instructed her of the Forbidden fruit of the Tree of Knowledge, she having been made from him he would have been her superior so he knowing directly would have shared all known things with her as they lived in the Garden. Satan knowing her status would have used that as her weakness.

Verse 8~Jehovah God created a beautiful Paradise for the first humans to live in. This showed the great love God had for man and the pleasure He wanted man to have in life.

And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. Eastward from where? Some say Africa but Africa would be south of Eden. On old maps of the Holy Land, it has a Eden(not sure if its the same). If its the same Eden it is eastward from the Holy Land.

Glad I didn’t start reading this and asking questions of God’s Word until well into my 40’s. If I’d listened to most Sunday school teachers as youngster I would’ve assumed that the 7th Or unspecified day creation of God Breathed spirit into Adam was something the Almighty did after the fact with the 6th day creation.2 different kinds of two legged, upright ‘man’ We can thank God for diversity

I "think" Adam told her because as it says that old serpent beguiled Eve meaning he conned her made her believe that they would not surely die
  • Ron Fortney on Genesis 2 - 5 years ago
In Verse 16 it says God commanded man not to eat of the fruit, woman was not created until verse 22. In chapter 3 when woman (not yet Eve) tells of the fruit not to eat, how did she know what was commanded? Do you think Adam instructed her improperly that they would die if they touched it or do you think Eve just was confused, or did God come back and instruct her? Bible does not say, thoughts?

Well I m just now starting to read the Bible and get an understanding of it and it says God created earth and heaven which were both new and he says he formed man which already existed so it actually makes sense I don t know if I m right or wrong I just thought I d share my point of view. God bless

Hello den! as christian people, we are very limited in what He wants us to know in the bible. the thing not to do is to "read into" something that God didnt say. a created thing means he made it from NOTHING, he formed something means he made it and shaped it. lol...does that help? the word of God says that man is "fearfully and wonderfully made" and there is no creature special apart from man.
  • Den on Genesis 2 - 5 years ago
I believe there is a difference between "created" and "formed" as to 'man'... in the Scriptures, ie.. "created" being in spirit and "formed" being in "physical". It will always be a "mystery" to man until God reveals "its truth", in 'His time'... ..what do you think?
  • Rich Hiett on Genesis 2 - 5 years ago
The fruit that they ate is a form of the lusts of this generation. Who makes sin desirable. Not GOD. Free will is being used more in this generation than any other. 19 - 19
