Genesis 15 vs 6 Powerful verse, Abraham believed God, he didn 't question or doubt Him, he looked at the stars and believed God 's promise, that his seed would be as many as the stars, and that touched God, 'and he counted it to him for righteousness this is so heart warming. If we had similar faith or even as small as a mustard seed and believed God, He would still be pleased with us like He did to our father of faith Abraham. Am so encouraged by this verse.

Gen.15 12 16 this is possibly why our dreams from God are in part. When we learn what our dream and direction from God means, then we are ready for that season of our life.
  • Salomo on Genesis 15:21 - 9 years ago
God 's forgiveness is always accompanied with special grace, God confirmed to have given to Abraham and his seed the land of cannan, and when David was forgiven of his sin of numbering the people, God gave him a specific command " Go up, rear an altar unto the LORD in the threshingfloor of Araunah the Jebusite ", Forgiveness and favour!

I believe God would not find much Joy on Eleazer Abraham 's servant Although Eleazer was a faithful servant to his lord , but God wanted Abraham seed, something that was connected to Abraham his chosen to be his heir. God our fathers served you and you attended their deep fears...Remember me also in Jesus name!
  • Bruce (not almighty) on Genesis 15:5 - 9 years ago
OK, I know that Morgan Freeman is Atheist but... picture him when you read the interaction. Abraham isn 't the dimmest bulb on the planet but he 's not the brightest either. Much like Bruce. Give God the credit, and perhaps he had attitude when he said this to Abraham, "You will still be counting when you die before you can count the number of stars or your offspring! " So are we good Abe? See if God, our loving God is truly God then he has surely earned the right to have a little fun and attitude with our dumb asses! My God is an Awesome God and He blows our puny awarenesses away. We will never be able to comprehend the mind of God, we 're not built that way. But the simple things will confound the wise...

  • Sara on Genesis 15:5 - 10 years ago
If you look at this verse very carefully its talking about how if we look up at the stars we can't count them all. So therefore God is telling Abraham that even after his death his family will continue (the Israelites) Jeff as long as God allows humans to exist we will exist. Yes we will be judged one day for what we have done, but if were christians we will only be judged by the things we do since we got saved and those that are not saved will be judged for the things that they do and in determination whether they go to hell or not. which if their not saved they are going to hell

Love always gives of itself to its beloved.
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son..."

The self-giving love of YHWH revealed in Genesis 15:1 appears to be an Old Testament example and precursor of that same sentiment, later clarified in John 3:16. God loves His Chosen people and gives them not just objective blessing from on high. He actually gives them Himself, in order to bless, as any true lover, following His example does.

Promises, before the law of Moses, God instructs Abraham making him a prophet, priest, and father of the faith, and many nations. The foundation of faith is laid for the Stone which the builders would refuse, Jesus Christ will become the head of the corner by the power of the resurrection from the dead. We build our lives on this Stone, as Abraham took action by faith, so we today place the full weight of our faith on The Stone our Lord Jesus Christ which the builders refused, He is the Head of the Church. Only Jesus can give peace to the heart and soul of man, if your angry at the truth it shows your unbelief and rebellion.

Johnkutty, because the hebrews were strangers in the land before they disappeared. They were seed of Abraham but they were not native to land.

The israelis today are not israelities or hebrews but ethnically khazars invading the land. They are jewish because of their creed but not the biblical jews.

It's strange how their zionism (political ideology) uses the bible when it fits and doesn't use the bible when it doesn't fit. In all glory the last verses of this chapter says it's to be shared and that it will be.

God is the same.yesterday, today and forever.
Nothing is too hard for Him.i believe He'll soon bring it to pass. if anyone tries to interfere, that individual, nation or religion will simply become a historical statistic.

The Judgement of Nations? Who will suffer Greater, a free country that rejects the Truth, or a country with leaders that reject the Truth. Also Judgement is good when the Truth is sought and those that find it and are directed by it.

    @Pr.K.G.Johnkutty,
If you will read Exodus chapter 6 through chapter 12, you will see the children of Israel were captives and slaves in Egypt for 430 years. Until when God sent Moses to deliver them and bring them to the land He (God) had promised to Abraham!
  • Mas on Genesis 15 - 10 years ago
    @Pr.K.G.Johnkutty,
Here, God is telling the course of things. He is not actually the one sending Abrahams descendants into captivity, but is just telling what will come next.
The reason God is telling that is because He promised that land to Abrahams descendants, but could not give it to them unfairly; the actual occupants of the land, the Amorite were sorely misbehaving. However God was not yet in the right to take them off that land, because their iniquity was not yet full ( Genesis 15:16).
And God uses no favouritism, because even Israel itself faced same punishment when it disobeyed God.
  • Pr.K.G.Johnkutty on Genesis 15:10 - 10 years ago
I have a doubt on Genesis 15:13. Why did God say to Abraham that his descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs? Kindly clarify the exact reason for this.

For all you smokers and drinkers out there. You all turn and the guy upstairs for alcoholic and drug addict and sex offender Turn and dedicate your life to the lord. If youre one of these people the only reason youre still living is, because God is trying to give second and so face the lord.
  • Robert on Genesis 15 - 11 years ago
In verse 15:13, I dont believe it was a punishment but a course that had to be taken for the people to get what God had promised Abram, such as in our lives today at times we have to go through to get what was already promised, we dont know the exact way God gets us from point a to point b, sometimes we do know that it takes faith and works with obedience to move mountains as the word tells us. Think about it, the faith of the grain of a mustard seed, find a mustard seed and then the grain if that and tell me, this is part of what you need to make things change in life. Be blessed and pray for me as I pray for you.
  • Thabo Miya on Genesis 15:15 - 11 years ago
It is God commitment to Abram that surely he won't die still Crying for the child, or he will never die childless, He will die and be buried happier and blessed and peaceful because his wish has been granted......!
  • Feke aliki on Genesis 15:5 - 11 years ago
It comes down to "be happy with what you got". Be happy with the stars in your life. So if you only have one kid, that's one star that shines brighter then the others. Amen....
  • Princess of shalom on Genesis 15 - 12 years ago
this chapter is as plain as can be. it is true that the lord is our sheild and a rewarder of them that love him. but what is more important is the act of excercising faith. faith is a prove that he is god.
  • Kim on Genesis 15 - 12 years ago
Comment to Jeff's question. I believe the human body will die out but the spirit will continue on. So that is how we will continue on with our new glorified body.
  • Winston Piper on Genesis 15 - 12 years ago
I think the most profound aspect of chapter 15 is in verse 6.(And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness).

God is moved by faith and whenever we exercise faith in God he will respond. In some area we have faith , but in other areas we fall short.

I believe God wants us to believe in him fully so that he can truly bless us.
  • *CAPITAL PRINCESS* on Genesis 15 - 12 years ago
LOL. its so amazing how Proverbs 3:5 clearly reads Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and LEAN NOT unto thine own understanding but still people carry out these self interpretations. smh. Take a look at Ephesians 4:5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism. now out of all the lies, religions, and philosophies thats floating around the world always always remember that ITS ONLY, ONLY ONE TRUTH ABOUT GOD and if you don't know what it is then don't speak on it. if it applies be offended. simple as that.
  • Tunji Ososanya on Genesis 15:13 - 12 years ago
