You know what gets to me about when it comes to argumentative conversations about the Bible is when people say and try to critic verse's in the Bible to fit their life style or their beliefs and they complain about who wrote the Bible and say things like "only the red writing is true", God is real and Jesus died for all humanity so that we can go to Heaven but remember we must be born again.

Manny: You are right that the word trinity is not in the bible but if you read with understanding it is all thru it. Def. of trinity--God three in one. Mat 28:19, 1 Cor. 12 3-6, 1 Peter 1:2, That is only 3 of the 52 places mentioned. Good reading and bless you for studying the WORD.
  • Manny on Genesis 1 - 6 years ago
There is no such verse trinity in the bible. The 'us' refered to the Father and Son.
  • Donna on Genesis 1 - 6 years ago
Mr. Curious, you r right 😊 it does say "let us make man in our image". So is the "us" and "our" meaning the Three Persons in God or the Trinity? Or am I missing something here? My experience with Jehovah's witnesses says there is no place in the Bible where it says there is more than just God Jehovah, but this would be proof right here they r wrong. Verse27 is where it says "in His image".

Mr. Curious; what are you looking for? MANY came to Jesus all through the centuries, for AS MANY different reasons. We come to Jesus because He loved us and died on the cross for our sins to reconcile us; and if we continue in our sins and a life of indifference to God and don't repent; it will mean hell for sure! The wages of sin is death; everyone must give account of himself to God in the end.

Donna Everett; 1 Timothy 2:12 "But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence." Genesis 3:16 "Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee." That women are to be subject has always been, up until modern times.

I need chapter and verse in the Old Testament that talks about a woman not standing/speaking in the congregation or assembly. I am not sure of the exact wording. But in other words, women are not to preach. They can teach but not preach. Please help. I have searched and searched but can't find it. I know I have read this and I don't want to misquote it. Thank you.

Donna Cromb, it clearly says right there, in verse 26 of the KJV, "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness . . ." Is this the royal we or something? Is he referring to angels as well?
  • Donna Cromb on Genesis 1 - 6 years ago
Adrienne Baxter, it says in His image, not our own image, check your Bible against the King James version here. "We were made in His own image", and notice own is in italics. That means the original Hebrew didn't have own in it, it was added by the kjv translators. As to what happened.? To who? Do u mean Adam and Eve? They sinned and got evicted from Eden later, not in this chapter.
  • Adrienne Baxter on Genesis 1 - 6 years ago
    In Genesis 1
The Bible says God said let us make man in our own image. What happened to those people.

Jeffery in regards to your comment. Determining the correct temperature of the Sun is tricky wouldn't you think? The Placement would have to be perfect for correct light and heat. Genesis is an amazing book.

Before there was light he seperated the light from the darkness Satan was cast out of the heavens into the darkness let's do some research to see how this really plays out

Jeff; Maybe it was because Patrick was the one who brought the Word of God and the Glad Tidings of Christ to heathen Ireland, that is meant by "getting rid of the serpents." I don't know who Bridget was, but maybe the story around her was symbolic [as well]? What Prophecy are you referring to?
  • A disciple on Genesis 1 - 6 years ago
Dr. Gordon; I don't understand; what are you talking about? How do you think, 1) that your opinion doesn't matter? and, 2) that the holy Narrative of the account of Creation, is somehow only to be interpreted as from "ancient near east" thinking? Please explain.
  • Jeff on Genesis 1 - 6 years ago
The prophecy is not true cause how can st Patrick drive all the snakes out of Ireland. How can st Bridget have a small cloth and spread it on a massive land iT MAKES no sense. AT ALL
  • Dr Dennis Gordon on Genesis 1 - 6 years ago
What do I think of Genesis 1? Frankly, my personal opinion is not what is important. What is important is what GOD wants us to understand from it, which, in turn, is based on what the Israelities were supposed to understand from it because it was written in the context of the ancient Near East.

In Genesis 2:4 it says in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heaven's . in verse 5 it says and every plant of the field before it it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not man to till the ground. Thete a very distinct difference between the field. And the earth.

He shall teach us all things: John 14:26. Has He Tugged on Your Heart? John 6:44 / His Sheep hears his voice they won't listen to strangers: John 10:3-5 / Your voice is strange. / Is Your Name in His Book? Revelation 20:15

How did the word get out? Who disclosed the books. Who is the reader? Who received the Revelation of Jesus Christ? What is a man? God Created on the sixth day but The Lord God formed on the seventh. Then there is another Day. The eighth day? Who is he who is Ordained by God who bears the sword? The Lord of the earth?

I appreciate the Holy Spirit leading me to this site and enjoyed listening to the readers voice. I am thankful for the Bible. Especially in any assistance it gave me in being able to believe and receive the love of good Holy Spirit forevermore, who put me on this Earth to be loved by Him and made to be holy by Him. I love that we were made to be holy like Him. Made in His image in this way.
