  • Moses on Genesis 1 - 6 years ago
Genesis is the book of beginning and so it is, so it has been and so shall it be, the seventh day is a day of rest and worship, we should endeavour to keep it holy, in appreciation of the goodness of God, in creating us with all the blessings he has been bestoring on us each day as we wait for the coming back of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Bible has questions and answers let the BIBLE ANSWER THE BIBLE I have the anointing 1jn 2:27. No prophecy of Scripture is given by private interpretation. God means what he says. Only the saved understand kjv he must open your understanding FIRST!

  • Jeff Berry on Genesis 1 - 6 years ago
    1) "In the beginning" means in the beginning. This is clear. So God created the heaven/earth having no form/void (empty) covered with water and dark in the beginning. He could have spoke everything into existance in a word but he choose to start with a canvas (a process). (Why He choose a "process" is open for discussion). But He choose a process that only took 6 literal days!
  • Jeff Berry on Genesis 1 - 6 years ago
    2) vv 1-5 is one 24 hour period. "In the beginning...the evening and the morning were the first day." Moses (likely the author) chose his words carefully. We all understand "the evening and the morning" to be a 24 hour period or a day. vv 7-8 the second day, etc. (In fact, scripture makes the age of the earth very clear). The earth is young (literally only thousands of years old).
  • A disciple on Genesis 1 - 6 years ago
However Jeff, the Word of God is not for us to put whatever meaning we want on it. Otherwise He would just be speaking into the air! Didn't the LORD speak clearly many times questioning the teachers of Israel; Have you not read? Have you never read? and, You are the teacher of Israel, and these things you know not? If He doesn't use words easy to understand what can He expect for a right response?
  • Jeff Berry on Genesis 1 - 6 years ago
    3) If we allow for "millions" of years we are trying to make God's Word "fit" man's science. If (in spite of how clear God's Word is) we say it is open for "interpretation" all of God's Word is open for interpretation. We can take any part of His Word and make it say what WE want it  to say.

    Disciple; how great indeed!
  • A disciple on Genesis 1 - 6 years ago
Stephen; How did we all miss that part? Now I read the Bible, and it says God created the heavens and the earth in six days, and rested the seventh day and sanctified it. Chapter 2 is a further expounding of the beginning of man. If we cannot speak and command anything into existence, that's because WE ARE NOT GOD! Why do the heathen rage and the people imagine a vain thing? His NAME is I AM!
  • A disciple on Genesis 1 - 6 years ago
Dear Jeff; How are you? Nice to see you posting again. I like the way you brought that out about how God created. Many have had funny ideas about the meaning of "void and without form, and darkness upon the face of the deep;" but I agree with you that it simply but profoundly means He created everything out of nothing! Oh how great is our God! And His divine knowledge and understanding and power!
  • Jeff Berry on Genesis 1 - 6 years ago
Verse 1 is the beginning of the first literal day. There is a reason why God created the earth in 6 literal days and rested on the seventh. And there is a reason why He created the earth without "form" (as a Potter forms his clay or an Artist creates on his canvas) and it was not to allow time for "evolution" to occur. In the beginning means; in the beginning.
  • A disciple on Genesis 1 - 6 years ago
Jessi; I too have heard this rather obscure interpretation, and did give it some credence for a time; until it was better revealed. Some have taken potions from Isaiah and Ezekiel, and come up with the idea, that because of Satan's rebellion the earth was turned inside out; hence the [supposed] meaning of "[became] void, and darkness on the face of the deep." I've since changed my mind about that.
  • Jim on Genesis 1 - 6 years ago
Pray for Stephen. (his comment on Genesis 1 and 2)
  • Jessi Chapman on Genesis 1 - 6 years ago
Void means it was once useable but then became of no use which means a new beginning for the Earth. So, this is a story of a new beginning from a previous Earth.
  • Sam on Genesis 1 - 6 years ago
    I believe the word
  • Peter on Genesis 1 - 6 years ago
The book of Genesis show that we have to respect GOD!
  • Jeff Berry on Genesis 1 - 6 years ago
Creation began in Genesis 1:1 and ended in Genesis 2:2. EVERYTHING we believe is determined by our interpretation of these verses! Only a literal interpretation gives us a standard (an anchor) for everything else we believe. If man's science seems to contridic God's Word, man's science is simply wrong.
  • Will on Genesis 1 - 6 years ago
To Stephen and anyone else confused on Genesis from the to of Nimrod back time was measured differently. I am no scholar but if you read the Bible from what written Genesis 1:1-19. I can prove it was not millions of years but only a few thousand.
  • STEPHEN on Genesis 1 - 6 years ago
Genesis is very interesting. Between Genesis 1 and 2 there are millions of years.
  • Donna Cromb on Genesis 1 - 6 years ago
Jone, it reads that plants were the meat at first, which would make vegetarians happy, but after the flood with Noah God let us have the flesh of animals. Is that what u wanted to know?
God created the perfect world and we messed it up but I don't think that's why He let us have the flesh after Noah. Interesting that u caught that.
  • A disciple on Genesis 1 - 6 years ago
Christine; What is the point of your questioning? God called the gathering of the waters together, Seas; and the dry He called Earth. He made the heavens and the earth by His own power and understanding, for He is God Almighty! We have been made in God's image and likeness to be His children; but the wiles of the devil and our own sinning has kept us from ever being able to learn what that means.
  • Bruce on Genesis 1 - 6 years ago
Jone: For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with Thanksgiving: 1Timothy 4:4.
  • Christine on Genesis 1 - 6 years ago
Why is land called Earth? Land is land and Earth is a planet.
  • Jone on Genesis 1 - 6 years ago
Bula - What really strike me is the verse 29 on the food that God command us to eat, can we elaborate on these type of food please..
  • Micyest on Genesis 1 - 6 years ago
I don't know who he was talking to , maybe hisself. I think when we get there we will all fall on our faces to one God., Jehova Elohim Eshua is Jesus who is the Father who is the Son who is the Holy Ghost.., but don't let this mystery stop you from loving God..., heh .., he doesn't let it stop him from loving you..., hehe
